"It's Fake"

Was trying out my buddies new Volcano on 3rd St Promenade in Santa Monica where there is a ban on smoking (go figure. Welcome to California) when a police officer approached me (side note: the Volcano looks very much like a real cigarette). "You can't smoke here" he said. I simply responded with "Oh no it's fake" and presented it to him. "Oh that's COOL." he said with a hint of intrigue and then went about his business. No muss, no fuss.

Just thought I'd pass this experience along. Rather than going into any kind of long-winded explanation of what it really is, how it works, what emissions it produces etc. etc. I just boiled it down to "It's fake" and everyone was happy. Seemed to work wonders. Give it a try.

You'll probably be fine as long as you act calm. Don't be aggressive or act suspicious and I don't see most of the boys in blue giving anyone trouble over PVs. They're just doing their jobs and most of them are good guys and gals.

Yeah this would have been easier but since I did give the long winded version I've noticed three different campus cops using e-cigs.

Im the long winded in depth explanation kind of guy and if it turns out that they do smoke and they really want to try it I always have a sealed and prefilled cart (the ones you get with kits) to let them have a vape with.

One reason I left the blue led in my Revolver Elite is the thing looks pretty real from any distance at all (specially after my little mod to the cap to make it look more like burnt cig end). Once people see the blue led come on there really isn't any questions (negative questions that is).

I've used "it's fake." Even recommended it on the forums. No need to get into the long winded explaination unless they show interest. If all you're trying to do is get out of a possible bad confrontation, say in a non-smoking area, "it's fake" is a quick & easy way to do it!

I haven't ever had a police officer approach me before but im sure if one did I would say its fake and if they continue with it Id go into the long winded explanation... Plus im a criminal justice major, haha...

I do "fake" too! works like a charm. But since e-cigs have been on the news lately some people ask me if it's 'one of those electronic thingys'. I don't mind sharing info and usually point them to this forum but there are times I get tired of explaining...
