Okay, I guess it's time for me to give this a try!!! I have been putting it off since new coils are so cheap, and I'm lazy ...But if they work and taste better, then I will have to give it a shot. Anyone here that can recommend what size wicking and kanthal is best for the protank coils? I sure don't want to leave enough room for them to leak, that will end this foray really quickly!
I am using 2mm Ekowool for the coil with 32 gauge kanthal wire. 6 wraps has been registering for me at about 2.1-2.2 ohms. to prevent leaks I am finding placing one 1 mm silica wick over the coil seals up the protank coil nicely. Because I didn't have any I just use the stock silica flavor wicks that came with my coils. Yes I Peter and Paul to pay Mary. But rectifying this by getting me some 1 mm silica wick which hopefully will be here soon!
Because the braided 'hollow' 2mm Eckowool looks thicker I think it is probably closer to 3mm in size. But It looks like 2mm regular silica is what is standard for the coil and 1mm silica is for the flavor wicks. That's what it looks like to me from my observation.
