Okay, I guess it's time for me to give this a try!!! I have been putting it off since new coils are so cheap, and I'm lazy ... :) But if they work and taste better, then I will have to give it a shot. Anyone here that can recommend what size wicking and kanthal is best for the protank coils? I sure don't want to leave enough room for them to leak, that will end this foray really quickly!

I am using 2mm Ekowool for the coil with 32 gauge kanthal wire. 6 wraps has been registering for me at about 2.1-2.2 ohms. to prevent leaks I am finding placing one 1 mm silica wick over the coil seals up the protank coil nicely. Because I didn't have any I just use the stock silica flavor wicks that came with my coils. Yes I Peter and Paul to pay Mary. But rectifying this by getting me some 1 mm silica wick which hopefully will be here soon!

Because the braided 'hollow' 2mm Eckowool looks thicker I think it is probably closer to 3mm in size. But It looks like 2mm regular silica is what is standard for the coil and 1mm silica is for the flavor wicks. That's what it looks like to me from my observation.

What works well for me is to use 32 AWG wrapped 5 wraps (1.7 ohms) on a 2mm screw. I then roll the end of peaches and cream yarn small enough to fit easily through the coil and postion the coil on the yarn. I use a 2nd piece of the yarn for the flavor wick. The same procedure minus the flavor wick works well on Vivi Novas It works so well that I even recoil my new coils.

I really need to figure out how to make cotton work, so far I haven't had much success with it yet.

this is what I got: SMOKTech RDA Rebuildable Atomizer

the hole lines up with a hole on the base of the atomizer and a little air tube that is drilled into the base comes up under the coil. It's nothing like the IGO-L's I've been looking at. Maybe the air tube is blocked and I have to free it.

On my RDA like the one you linked I just had my brother in law drill a tiny hole in the side of the cap. When I put the cap on hte atty I line hte hole up with the coil. Fixed the problem. Unfortunately I can't remember what size hole. VERY tiny though

Thank you! I'm so excited.. I think I'm on coil rebuild overdrive! LOL I tried using Peaches n cream cotton yarn. I dunno.. the taste came out really funky. I must be doing something wrong! I boiled it once.... maybe I have to boil the yarn again?

I did boil mine twice - 30 minutes each time in separate pots of water. The boost in flavor over silica is definitely noticeable!
