It's the opposite of what it says it is.

Why Mentally Ill People Should Have Access to E-Cigarettes - Pacific Standard: The Science of Society

The idea of breaking links to avoid giving google juice to negative articles, not positive ones.

Very good article. The last paragraph says it all-

More research is needed on the long-term effects and safety of e-cigarettes. But we cannot wait indefinitely—until all the scientific evidence is in—while hundreds of thousands of people remain at high risk simply because they cannot, or do not want to, achieve total abstinence. Close to half of these people are mentally ill, a group for whom cigarette smoking has a special significance. It is unethical to deny them access to a nicotine delivery device that could save their lives.

I've always had a problem with this association between the mentally ill and nicotine. On the one hand, it is true that many mental disorders are alleviated by nicotine, and people who suffer from them self-medicate. However, I see this as a ruse by the ANTZ to reverse the causality and eventually claim that, if you're using nicotine, you must be mentally ill.

Thank you. I'm new and don't really know much so didn't want to do anything wrong. But the main reason I posted it was because it's the opposite of what it says. On Google and the title in the url it says shouldn't but the article says should which I thought was odd. I thought it might have some significance. I guess I should have been clearer about that.

During my pshychology clinical rotations for an RN degree we were told that the cigarettes kept the patients calm, those that already smoked that is. To take them away would make them edgy and hard to bring them into compliance for their medical care. There was no mention of the MAOIs that could be of relevance to their well being or nicotine for that matter.

I totally understood your reason for splitting it and noticed your post count. An easy was to think of it, if it's a possitive article on e cigs, we want it hit as often as possible out of here. Negative, not at all.

When the url was created, someone may have had a Freudian slip or they wanted a lot of our opposition to link to it. :)

I despair when ANTZ say that mentally ill people smoke because they are mentally ill, when in fact many of them smoke for the benefit of nicotine. Of course, ANTZ can never admit to nicotine having benefits...

Let's not forget the next step in ANTZ's logic: Smokers smoke because they must be somewhat mentally ill... :(

Exactly right and this approach is prevalent in mass media presentations.
