Hey guys, I thought I would join in on the action in this site.

I'm a pack a day smoker of 11 years who believes he has found the holy grail of smoke cessation! I started on Marlboros when I was 16, and now at the age of 27 have quit for good.

Let’s say I had several good attempts at quitting in the past. Quit for 2 years when I met my girlfriend. Quit for 9 months several years later. And most recently, quit for 3 months about a year ago... so you can see a negative trend forming lol!

Anyhow, a friend of my father whom I was introduced to had shown me his Golden Greek PV collection, and after allowing me to vaporize with one of his older models for the whole of a day, I set about doing the research and saving money for the initial purchase of one for myself.

It has now been almost 3 weeks since my last pack of Marlboros ran out, and there is no looking back. I had made the decision of purchasing the Golden Greek SS GGTS (#812 by Imeo) and 6 flavors of juice, a couple AW 18650 2900 mAh protected Liions, and a charger. I also bought two standard and two low resistance Joye 510 atomizers, and have decided I like the standard at 3.7 volts afterwards.

The true test of the effectiveness of the personal vaporizer was confirmed when I stole a cigarette from my step mother a week ago. I had read of people truly coming to enjoy vaporizing over smoking, and sure enough, her cigarette tasted awful and was not at all the joyful reunion I had come to expect when lighting up a cigarette after being deprived from one for a while.
So, that’s my story. Now I’m trying to convert as many smokers that I know as I can! :toast:

Welcome Stinky Uncle Ed!
I share your same story. I too tried to have an analog in a social setting. I took about three drags, apologized, put it out and immediately reached for my PV. The reunion with tobacco is hardly what I expected and, like yourself, am pleased to say analogs pale in comparison to vapeing.

I am also on a mission to convert any analog user I can. I work in the healthcare industry and not a day goes by that I print up information about the ECF and the ordering page for the Joyce Ego (my preferred PV) from altsmoke.com. I have done it for co-workers and even patients on the down low (heaven forbid I give someone an alternative to taking prescription meds like chantix or zyban most of which are mood altering drugs with far worse side effects than smoking ever could be).

Again welcome to the ECF and please keep up the good fight!

Welcome stinky.

Quite the "starter kit" you got there. Congrats. Best of luck on your conversion quest. I've only given info when people ask. I think they're just being nice to me. Months later, they're still smoking.

Sometimes I wish I had extra dough to buy these people a starter kit. I think these people just need a little prodding.

Welcome to the forums! I'm sure you'll love your journey through the strange world of vaping.

That said, you're going to miss out on all the fun of trying the cheaper models. I, myself, had an issue with that when I started. My first PV was an eGo-T, and it was just about everything I needed, and it worked quite well. I did miss out on the chance to try out a KR808, and the smaller mini style cig-replicas. Now I'm moving into the more advanced market, so I'm getting an opportunity to stress my wallet. ;)

Best of luck!

Welcome, Stinky Uncle Ed! Although I suspect that having given up cigarettes you're probably not quite so stinky anymore. Now if we can just do something about that aroma of cabbage...

But anyway, congrats on quitting! Looks like you went straight for the high end stuff. Well, if nothing else it gives you plenty of options on how you want to vape, and a classy-looking mod to do it with. You've already done the one-week cig test (or whatever the interval between switching and trying a cig was for you) so you've already confirmed: Smoking sucks and vaping rocks. It's all smooth sailing from here -- apart from the spending you'll be doing on juices, atties, cartos, and whatever else appeals to you to chase that perfect vape. :)

Welcome! New myself, this place is FULL of help!

Thanks, you too! It certainly is, I have spent hours on this site allready!

Hello Ed,

Good story and I am glad it is working out well for you. You certainly skipped some of the missteps that I made along the way.

Thanks. It helps being having an experienced mentor that steered me in the right direction.

Hi Ed from Peoria area and welcome! :)

Hey there! Run into any vapers over there yet? I have only seen a couple people on cigarette look-a-likes over here.

Welcome. You picked a great PV to start with. You're lucky to have been able to use one prior to investing in it.

I also had a chance to try a coworkers cigalectric (cigarette look-a-like) several months before trying out my dads friends GG. I am fortunate in skipping straight to the good stuff :)

Hello Ed and welcome to ECF. This forum and it's people ROCK!!! It's been a month today for me and my better half :) . The support here is top notch.

Congratulations! My girlfriend was never really a smoker, but even she can appreciate my PV and some of the flavors. I'm glad the two of you can enjoy the hobby together!

welcome to here. your story are very nice

Thank you! That vampire bat is huge

Lol, nice name ed and welcome :D

Thanks, it's a nickname I came up for myself while being uncomfortable around my brothers baby when I was still smoking

Hey thanks alot! My dad is actually a doctor and his friend was able to quit using a PV so my dad had me meet him. My dad didn't buy me one though, he said I would have to buy it myself otherwise I woulden't be commited to quiting. It's nice to know multiple people in the medical field are embracing the validity of these devices! Good work letting your patients know about these things, it's the right thing to do! And yes, analogs suck

Yeah, I try not to be the anoying guy, you know, the same type of guy that gives advice in the gym when nobody asked. For the most part, alot of people at work ask me why I'm smoking a crack pipe and from there on I give them the speil and some of them even ask to try taking a hit (vape) off mine. I'm not bashfull though when trying to convert friends or family, screw them, I care about their health!

Yeah, I'm enjoying my mod, and yet still miss not having had the oportunity to try the cheaper ones out there. But I still know I will need to buy some smaller e-cigs for not attracting attention at airports and what-not. Probably something with a blue LED that trained TSA agents will know to leave me alone for lol.

Ha ha, rest assured that even as a converted vapor who billows forth clouds of butterscotch, I will still remain stinky in one way, shape or form, even if it's a good aroma :vapor:, but yeah, the cabbage e-juice was a horrible, horrible idea :p

Yeah, the one week test (about two weeks for me) really spelled it out in easy to read lettering; SMOKING SUCKS! Its a great new world here, and I can't wait for all the mods that await me and the people I may meet on the street.

Welcome Ed!

I had to giggle at your name. When my husband and I were first married we lived in an apartment in Knoxville. We had a downstairs neighbor we called 'Uncle Stinky' because he would go out on his patio and smoke one cigar after another.

lol, thanks! Your neighbor sounded like a fine, stinky fellow! Maybe he had a cigar-shaped mod in his future?

Welcome to ECF!

Thank you!
