Hi all,

Yes I am another confused person trying to dig through the mountains of info about vaping.

I've smoked since 1998, i started with swisher cigarettes, then move to camels, and now smoke Marlboros (because I don't like the taste and I usually don't smoke as much.

I enjoy tobacco plain and simple, I smoke a pipe when its warm enough for me to be outside or driving long distances, use chewing tobacco every now and then, and smoke up to a pack of cigarettes a day (a lot less now that I can't smoke in a bar)

Lately I have been having trouble breathing, I think its a combo of dust from my job and smoking. I'm athsmatic and don't want to push the issue. Ive quit several times and actually can keep my hands busy and do other things. My problem lies within a few areas: I have a mild a.d.d which I self medicate for (way better than pills, oddly enough) so I do struggle with the nicotine absence but the big problem is my chest, when I'm working in my shop, playing a video game, driving a car, riding my motorcycle and even laying in bed I get a sensation in the center of my chest that is uncomfortable to say the least and can be quite painful at times. I assume this is the withdraw from draw. It happens after the nicotine withdraw starts at the brain level. This is when I drop everything and go smoke. Unfortunately this does not always solve the problem. Sometimes it takes two cigarettes or more which causes a problem with the whole breathing thing. Ive developed habits around most of the triggers but I can't stop this.

Like I said, I do enjoy smoking, its hard for me to quit something I'm good at but I need to start changing this. If I could just smoke my pipe when relaxing it would be great but I've had this chest sensation while smoking my pipe and big cigars.

I'm hoping that vaping will help that, I'm not sure, pills and patches don't stop this sensation. So I've decided to look into this to see if it will help. What I need is some direction from you folks.

I have tried an ecig at the mall of America a few years ago, it tasted like chocolate and burning antifreeze (marlboro flavor) the salesman saw me frantically trying to find a way out to smoke and stopped me. This device did nothing for me but make my chest sensation worse. I've not read much on the issue of an antifreeze taste, After working in a garage for seven years I want nothing to do with that smell or taste. Is this common?

Looking at ecigs the 510 looks right, it round and looks like I can keep it in my pocket, I'm already staring to look like bat man with my belt so I have to think of carrying it. So I made a list that maybe you folks can help me sort through.

1: I'm often on the go and will hang a cigarette (size 100) out of my mouth while doing so. This also happens occasionally when I don't wear a helmet on the motorcycle. (lanyard?) I also carry to much now so I have to consider the size of everything. I'm a guy so I usually don't carry a bag.

2. Because of my mobility I often don't have charging available, I also have a smart phone which uses up my car charger. I have to carry a spare battery for hunting and the bike? Is there a happy medium here?

3. Are these things as much maintenance as I think they are? One of the reasons I don't smoke a pipe regularity is that it takes to long o do maintenance & packing. My current job give me 3 breaks 10,15,10 minutes per day just enough to choke down a half of cigarette and choke on a sandwich. So if I could clear it with the powers that be (medical stuff is around) it could actually save me 4 minutes.

3. Is it really worth it? I mean does it replace the cigarette? I've only tried one and it failed. I will have to work a 12 hour shift to buy one of these so I want it to work.

4. juice isn't an issue, we have a local company making it, just the using a syringe and all that. I quit rolling my own cigarettes due to the time it took, so I'm a bit leery of this practice.

5. I'm willing to try this, I see some companies have a box that works as a charger and all that, if its the make size as pack I can manage it. Are there any brands that this will all kind of fall into place? Like I said, I would have ordered the joy e 510 until I read that noob sticky. So I need some good noob starter set ideas under 75 dollars. I think having an auto and manual battery would be best. I like the strait tube design and don't want a whistle style. If it doesn't look like a cigarette its ok, I just don't want it to looked like a nicotine inhaled cessation product.

Any help you folks can give me trying to sort out the above is appreciated. A lot of folks have been asking me if I knew any thing about e cigs, and the local talk radio host often raves about hers, and the fact that I'm not breathing like I should and get winded easy seams to be a good reason to pull the trigger on something fast. Thank you!

i understand the wanting to quit for fear of a health problem...i hope you make the change as easily as some of us have and that it starts to get better soon...i am still new but am shocked at how much has changed for me already.

hang in there, you are well on your way. just hang out for a while here, do some reading, maybe watch a few vids...think about what will suit you and jump in buddy, because the water is warm...

i love my V4L. but others will have diff suggestions, and you will have to figure out what is right for you. is it worth it? YES!! yes yes yes yes yes...yes yes...yes yes yes...get it? lol YES YES

There are suppliers that have a "PCC" case. It contains a 510 ecig, a spare battery and two atomizers. The great thing about the PCC case is that it is a portable charging station. You can charge up the box and it will hold a charge for a few weeks. That should take care of your transportation difficulties while traveling.

damn, you sound just like me. that is until i started vaping. i used to love tobacco, didn't matter what type. anyway, the set up that works for me is a sit N Go from madvapes.
Mega 510 Sit and Go USB Passthrough

it is great cause i never have to wait an charging batteries. while i am driving i just plug it is to the lighter and it is charging while you vape. I have been tobacco free for just over a year. best part is my lungs feel great.

A couple of problems...

1. E-cigarettes that work well are going to be too heavy to hang out of your mouth. The ones as short and slim as a cigarette are the weakest models with the shortest battery life and the tiniest juice carts, and aren't going to give much of a hit. However they do exist. The lightest might be M403. But I don't know if the cart would hold on well enough to not lose the rest of the ecig while cycling.

2. The PG part of the eliquid base (for most people that is most of the base) lets through TH the best. The other part VG dulls TH. the problems is nicotine+PG alone can be harsh and drying and can sometimes cause fairly extreme irritation (mouth, throat and even lungs) for people who vape excessively or already have breathing or lung issues. So you might not be able to handle the PG.

I think to start, maybe you could buy a disposable type of 510 model online (that's an atty+cart model) - that will probably come with prefilled 100% PG carts. but also but some eliquid that is all VG or heavy on VG and try that in the carts too.

$10 for a disposable 510 here w/ cheap shipping
But they don't have any VG liquids
Disposable E Cigarette & Disposable Cigarette Filters | Disposable Eletronic Cigarette Refill Cartrdiges at LiteCigUSA

Liberty-Flights has some VG liquids - not the pinnacle of eliquids (probably Dekang)
E Liquid - E Liquid 5ML - VG - Tobaccos

If you can vape 100%VG then you could try maybe 50/50 or even 70pg/30vg - see what you can tolerate. I vape 70pg/30vg - it's a popular base.

And yeah - vapor feels foreign for the first couple of days. But once you get used to vaping then a cigarette will taste awful.

You'll like the eGo. It looks more like a cigar than a cigarette, but it's still small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. You might want to check out the Riva, too. It's sort of a cousin to the eGo, about the same size and less expensive. That was my first PV and I quit smoking the day I got it.

You can also buy lanyards for them from CloudsOfVapor.com, which would be great for you while riding your motorcycle!

I'm not sure that that would work... I wonder if drawing through the lanyard would cause problems... Also does any one know if the pvs can handle being operated at 65 mph with varrying speeds up to 85 mph?

I have a joye 510 and Riva 510, I love both of them. The Riva allows me to be gone from the house all day and not worry about a recharge. The joye I use at home and use the drip method with. They each have a perk so I got both, lol.
As far as the 65-85 speed, vibration, etc. It should not affect them because they are manual batteries (have to push a button on them). You might stay away from the automatics, I understand noise, vibration, wind, etc can activate them.

The lanyard is basically only to hold it while not in use..I use my ecig on my bike all the time..You get the hit and taste just not much vapor at 70 mph..Well not that you can see at least..Where in wisconsin jbird?
Baraboo - Dells Area north of Mad town. I rarely go south... How do you keep from dropping it? I've lost cigs out of my mouth, hand, and pocket.

My current set up until my Provari gets here. When it gets here jeweler is going to solder a silver ring on it so that it can go on a necklace as well. I vape 6ml a day and love it hanging around my neck for quick easy access. XL e2 cartomizer and fat bat mod for all day vaping.

Grats. order yourself some good PG/VG juices too and remember what I said about too much PG making some people's lungs sore. You probably don't want that so maybe try some juices with decent amounts of VG in them - maybe try a 50/50, and maybe a 70pg/30vg as your highest PG for now given your problematic lungs. At FreedomSMokeUSA in the tobaccos section you can choose a variety of ratios for most tobacco juices. They were having 30% off on flavored juices (try code flavors during checkout). If "flavors" discount doesn't work anymore then use freedomsmokeusa for 10% off your whole order. I like their Desert Ship (Turkish Blend).
