Had to reply to this one. I don't post much because as a non-smoker/vaper, what was I going to say? I thought it was good netiquette not to post random nonsense just to gain higher post count?

And if there's nothing good in vaping beyond being better than the analog alternative, why do people go to so much trouble to make attractive and interesting mods to e-cig bodies or buy interesting-looking ones, instead of just sticking with the versions that pretty much look just like a regular analog? In other words, why make an effort to enjoy this more than you need (Come on, who really needs a pink, rhinestoned e-cig casing/body? Really?) if you just want to escape it anyway?

the cigarette is merely the medium, what's inside is the addition, to get away from an addition, one needs to/wants to/has to avoid the common link... the fanciful exterior and all are due to the fact of addiction and if a mind is occupied, it can be controlled

I give up. I have tried to make it clear I'm a consenting adult who made this decision with lots of thought and just want the advice I asked for and not to be proselytized against. Out of all the replies, only one of them actually answered my question, and you'll likely damn him for not trying to exorcise my decision out of me as you folks have tried to do. To the one guy who gave me actual advice, thank you. To the rest of you, this isn't high school anymore and you're not my parents. Don't get me wrong. You're well-meaning and it's kind of you to care about a stranger. Why not go the extra mile in caring and instead allow me to be an adult and make my own informed decisions? VG is vegetable glycerin and can be used in place of PG and is a natural substance that is much safer, is it not? See, I've done my homework.
Don't give up, your objectives are romantic coming from your memories and feelings. I can indeed "see" what you are saying, you must of course top the over-all look with a crackling fire, silken house robe, and a divine liquor in a sniffer glass....
I can send you my info to give me money for nothing, because that is what this 'mind vision' is going to get you....vaping is the alternative to being hooked up to an oxygen tank and still puffing a cigarette through the tracheotomy port.... and I'm NOT kidding
Your memories aren't going to be sparked by much of this endeavor, because the "flavor" you will taste is not a SCENT - ergo, triggering your memories will not happen! the input of flavor and output of odors can be adjusted, but it is just not the same thing and thusly, not offensive to anyone, however it can assist cripples/addictees/cant-do-it-ers in doing SOMETHING positive for themselves and offers them a smidgen of control.
Frankly I would suggest locating a (REAL) health food store that also has essential oils... these oils have been used for centuries in multitude of ways; perfume, colognes, aroma-therapy and healing wraps. -disclaimer here these oils CANNOT be used for INTERNAL anything! can't smoke, vape, eat or drink-
You can store selectively chosen clothes to expose to a certain smell and they will carry it. You can create a very special-one-of-a-kind potpourri just for this. Buy a Sherlock Holmes type pipe and waltz about with it empty except for a pouch of your own scented oils. Even the act of placing it in your mouth will create looks of anticipation as to resulting odors if you should lite it up.... when you don't... you merely chastise your audience by saying smoking is like raking a pile of leaves up and not jumping in it....

The OP is an adult, we have all urged him not to do this. He is determined and has made the choice and has already bought a kit. While we do not agree and while it may be offensive to some of us, the best thing we can do for him is to give him the best advice so that he exposed to the least risk.

You do not need to inhale to appear like you are smoking the pipe. When people blow smoke rings they only inhale into their mouth and the push the smoke out into rings with the tongue. There is no need to inhale into your lungs at all. Below are Lorann's flavorings along with the "RELATIVE" safeness. Please be as safe as you can and once again I urge you to rethink your decision and at the very least do not inhale, just puff on the end of the pipe. No one will even know you are not inhaling.

The Humco VG at WalMart is great for lots of vapor and you know there is no nic in it.

Good idea! It reminds me of when I bought 3 little bottles of oils from a health food store to help with a bad case of bronchitis I had four years ago. Yes, it helped a lot, but heating those oils in a little water on the stove left a lingering smell in my kitchen. The three oils were: Eucalyptus, Clove Bud, and Cinnamon Leaf. Paid $40 online to get this formula.

The Humco VG is actually called Glycerin USP and can be found at Walmart in the pharmacy section in the aisle where the rubbing alcohol is located. At my Walmart stores, it's in a 6 ounce bottle on the shelf above the rubbing alcohol products and sells for $3.00. I use it all the time and add it to my e-liquid mixtures. 20-25% Glycerin and 75-80% e-liquid(s)

Best advise is to not start. You won't be any cooler, better, hipper, anything, you'll just be putting something into your body that it doesn't need. The sole reason I vape is because so far it has successfully kept me away from smoking. If I had the willpower to stop both I would. I do enjoy vaping more than smoking, but I'd enjoy more when I'm not an addict of anything. The overwhelming response here is for a reason.

oils can clog the attys -- note PIPEs attys are not cheaply replaced, so aware of what you put into them.

Like YEAH tweazee .... ESSENTIAL OILS CAN NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT BE USED INTERNALLY IN WAY SHAPE OR FORM and deback said nothing of the sort...rather it was using the oils as they are supposed to be used

I'll tell ya, though, breathing in the fumes from boiling those oils mixed with water (with my nose at the top of the pan) really helped to get rid of the bronchitis I had. And it was the worst bronchitis I'd ever had and hope I never have to go through that again!

Don't worry, I won't ever vape these oils!

I have read this entire thread with great interest. I know the majority of people disagree with your decision but I have to say this....before I ever picked up my first cigarette app. 44 years ago, I was warned repeatedly by people who smoked and people who didn't smoke to never try smoking. Did I listen? That answer is obvious. I wish I had listened and heeded their advice but all of us who are caught in this web know that no amount of begging, preaching, scolding or warning had any affect on our decision. We all had our reasons for grabbing that first smoke and I'm sure most of us knew there would be consequences, but at the time, nothing mattered except doing what we wanted to do. Having said that, from now until the end of time, gazillions of people are going to be facing the same dilemma. Just because we found something that works and have educated ourselves more thoroughly on the dangers of smoking and the pros and cons of vaping, we can't assume that the world is going to see things our way. Every single hour, someone is going to decide to start using some form of tobacco product. I have posted my position on this matter before and I'm going to repeat it. The best advice is always to avoid anything that can have negative effects on your life and well being. However, IF, after weighing and the pros and cons, someone decides they want to experience "smoking," we should be applauding the fact that they have chosen to take what most of us consider to be the safest route. Vaping is an alternative to smoking and this forum eventually will be populated with non smoking wannabe vapers. Do we want this to happen? No, but we must realize that in some cases, we aren't going to keep people from trying this, regardless of what we say or how many facts we can throw out. I would hope that our community here can be as helpful in helping keep people from ever starting to smoke as we are at helping those who are trying to quit. As I read these posts, I heard echos from my past and hopefully, I have presented a balanced approach to something we've seen before and will continue to see in the future.

Sometimes the "Just say NO" approach doesn't work. It would make me just as happy knowing I helped someone to choose a safer route to start as helping them choose a safer alternative to quit. I'll probably take a lashing for this post but that's the way I see it.

Hopefully you'll decide this wasn't what you thought it would be and it will be a short lived fling with the world of pipe "smoking" but if not, I'm thankful that you've been given some helpful advice about keeping it as safe as possible.:2c:

I agree Lynda and I will say something that will give me a lashing on here. Something I have thought to myself time and again, but I don't like to state it because Big Brother (FDA) might be watching; something very unECFish and un"vaperish."

I love my 16-year-old daughter, love her to bits. The thought of her breathing anything but pure air into her lungs hurts my heart. However, if she ever does give in to peer pressure and starts to smoke, I sincerely would rather see her use a PV than an analog. There I said it! I see teenagers smoking on the street all the time, for some of them it will be a peer pressure usage and they will give it up; we know what will happen to the rest. I would much rather have teens not smoke at all, but if they have to.....

Oh lord, let the lashings begin.

I have delved into the holistic/homeopathic fields at great lengths - I would *guess* 90% of the ppl walking around today have no idea that fruits, veggies, greens, weeds, seeds are all the basis / basics of ....let me say... "modern" LOL
medicines.... please not much response because it will become OT.....

If you are NOT a smoker, you should not vape...Period! E cigs are a reduced harm alternative to smoking...designed for smokers and ex-smokers ONLY. Do yourself a favor and save your money.

Breathing the air is bad.
Drinking the water is bad.
Eating food is bad.

Everyone has the FREEDOM to choose what to do with their body.

If ecig was designed for smokers and ex-smokers, then the 1st designer would have been more carefull when he started mass producing the ecig and making it available to the public.

Did the inventor of the PG & VG liquids say it was initially designed for vaping?

As with most things in life, everything evolves, so will the eCigs to the non-smokers.
