Hi 8-ball -:)

I have been told by Janty that all kits are tested before they go out...

From my personal experience, I have been using a Dura from this batch straight out of the box with no apparent problems. The battery doesn't seem to have a cutoff either.

I put the first battery on charge and have been using the other straight from the box since midday without problem (until it flashed 20 times to let me know it needed charging).

The vapour production is excellent - as good as my e-pipe if not better and the responsiveness and overall lack of delay is very impressive. The battery life also seems to be good although it's still early days. It is certainly the most cigarette like in terms of performance that I have tried.

This has been my experience so far with the auto switch Dura and so far all I can say is that I am impressed. :)

I will update as the days go by...

Some tips that seem to be working well for me :

- If you do put the Dura in your pocket or in a vertical position, make sure it's battery end up to prevent liquid seeping down into the battery.

- Don't drip smoke. In fact you really don't need to drip smoke with the Dura - 2-3 drops into a full cart after you've used it for 15-20 puffs is ideal. So the process would be: fill cart and vape for 15-20 puffs; when ready for another cigarettes worth, top the cart with another 2-3 drops.

- Make sure to keep the cart topped up nicely with liquid while vaping to keep the atomiser from getting too hot, but make sure you don't over fill it.

- Before you replace the cart, use some tissue paper to wipe any excess liquid from around the area where the cart connects to the atomiser. This will stop liquid squeezing out.

- If you are travelling or not using the Dura for a longer period, remove the cart and atomiser from the battery to prevent any liquid seeping into the battery.

A further note on the cut off of the Dura:

After charging the second battery, I noticed that the battery had started cutting off a little bit earlier than I was experiencing before. At first I thought that it may be that charging the battery had caused this.

Anyway, after some testing by adding more liquid in the cart I noticed that the cutoff problem was indeed longer. To test this theory further, I decided to carefully drip a drop of liquid directly on the atomiser (not recommended) and this time, the led continued to light up for 1 second after I had stopped inhaling.

So in conclusion, I believe the cut off issue is directly related to how wet/dry the atomiser is. If the cart is topped, up the cut off is almost eliminated. If the cart (and hence the atomiser) is running dry, the cut off will shorten. This would also explain why my experience with the Dura straight out of the box was so exceptional because of the combination of the atomiser being primed in the factory and using a brand new full cart of liquid in it.

I can only assume that this is a precautionary measure that JOYETECH have taken to prevent the atomiser from burning out...

Anyway, now I know this, I will definitely keep the cart well topped up with liquid and try and make sure the cart wool is pulled out enough to make good contact with the atomiser! :D

Perhaps some people have already commented on this - has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, I've noticed this as well with the early Jan release batteries/atomizers as well.

It kind of defeats the purpose of having such a large cartridge I would think though. I'd much rather see a shorter cartridge (making the overall length shorter), and just top up more often, rather than waste the extra liquid we end up putting into a cart for no reason.

Just my opinion from use. And I'm really looking forward to the Dura-C's manual capability.

Greg

Hi Greg -

Yes it is the technology and also peoples demand for a cigarette-like device that throws in some design limitations unfortunately. The cart itself is probably the size it is because it's just imitating the filter of a cigarette.... halve the size and it just wouldn't look right to most people.

Still, we'll probably look back at these early devices in years to come as prehistoric relics of the vapourising revolution that we're all part of today... people will gasp in museums at the crudity of the very first atomising chambers!!

Technology will advance fairly quickly on these things - that's for sure....
Year 2020: nicotine particle colliding vapouriser system... coming to a spacemart near you! :D

Okay so the name needs a bit of working on!! :p

Hi Shakey -

Sounds as though your atomiser may be defective and might need replacing... as long as you were keeping the cart well topped with liquid so that the atomiser is being kept well primed, you shouldn't have this problem.

Thanks Deuce. This problem occurred on both atomizers. Maybe they were overheating, burning the juice, or burning the wool. I was keeping the carts well topped.

It seems odd that both atomizers would have the same problem at the same time. Anyway, they both retained the burnt smell. I washed them and will try again.

Hi Gabriellyon -

I believe that the auto switch batteries will remain an option for the Dura but improvements will constantly be made to iron out any issues that people have been having.

I also haven't had any issues with the auto-switch battery to date, but find that the Dura does require a regular top up of liquid to maintain its thirsty habits!

Updating: the Dura works fine. I was over working it. As long as you don't overheat it and keep the cart topped up it's fine. It produces a lot of vapor with very little effort, i.e., if you try to puff away on it like a 901 it over-performs and starts getting too hot.

Also, I think the extra heat makes for a very good throat hit.

Shakey, I have the Joye510 which is the generic Dura. I've had a total of 5 atomizers for it, and at least 3 of them have always had a horrible burnt taste. Sometimes it tastes like the smell of solder, if that makes any sense?!

I love this ecig, but the quality of the components is very hit and miss. It really is a lucky dip whether you get good parts or not.
