nice one, but did you really complain about the short length of the usb chargers cord ?:D

i had a bit problems to understand all what you said on my tiny laptop speakers.

Haha, hey...I had to find stuff to complain about. It's not a huge deal, but it is kind of annoying.

Yeah, I was speaking quietly...it was like 4:00am, I was tired.

Well done review, St_Francisco!

Other than more puffs per battery charge (the 600 mAh), how would you compare the eGO to an unmodified 510? The vapor production looks similar.

Also, have you ever used a 3.7V mod, e.g., Chuck, Spade, BB, Protege, Bartleby, etc.? If so, how would you compare the eGO to it?

In summary, why should one spend 80 bucks for it?

Thanks!

I can tell you that this is my first e-cig...kinda. Years back, I tried a pack of throw away e-cigs with those little charcoal tips. So yeah, this is my first e-cig. So unfortunately, I can't compare any other devices to it.

I can tell you that I am five days into vaping, and I was a pack a day menthol smoker. Since receiving my eGo, I have not had a single analog cigarette. But most importantly, I haven't even WANTED one. That's really quite amazing considering that I'm been a smoker for seven years, am surrounded at work by analog smokers, and have about four packs of analogs at the house right now. The desire to have an analog isn't even there, which is just absolutely wonderful.

I did a ton of research before deciding on this model, read the pros and cons of each, and of course read your wonderful "Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping". Five days into it, I'm still using the original atty, no problems whatsoever. One battery lasts me all day, and they only take an hour or two to charge back up. Plus, the charger has a cut-off, so I just leave them on the charger until I'm ready to use them again with no fears. The battery I'm using right now has been going since noon yesterday...that's over 24 hours! The flavors of my RY4 and Polar Mint are amazing, and I can't wait until my massive order of 12+ flavors comes in this week. The throat hit is superb, and the vapor production is adequate.

The design of the unit is just really sleek. I work in the oilfield, so I do a lot of physical labor. No problems setting the unit off when it's in my pocket. I've dropped it a few times on the carpet, or accidentally knocked it over on the table...no problems. It didn't scuff the outside, or damage the e-cig in any way.

This will be the unit I recommend to all my friends as I try to switch them to e-cigs. For 80 bucks, you get two batteries which are supposed to hold 200 charges each. That's 400 days of vaping, which works out to 20 cents per day (plus the cost of liquid per day). Way cheaper than 6 dollars per day for a pack.

All in all, I couldn't be happier with my first purchase. The durability and performance are exceptional, and yet it's very sleek (unlike things like the chuck, screwdriver, etc.), and easily goes where you go.

@DDBV, its small, nice and for now, reliable and packs at least 2 1/2 mega batts in itself.

and it vapes warmer than a standard 510, and even lighter to draw if you don't screw the "cigarcap" on. thats why my SilverBullet gets a bit jealous now and then.

the SB has still the bigger battery and the most secure button. but the eGos button seems not to fire up as easily as most others.

it could be a bit bigger, according to mik from janty XL batteries with 10mm more length and real 800mAh are almost ready.

i think for some it will be an addition to a bigmod, for others an addition to their titan.
others may be comfortable just with eGo sets alone.
i like it as the tiny part of my e-cig family... for now.

ok, there is always a group that just don't like a closed design or just the looks.
well.... :p

sorry to jump in, thats my thoughts currently for the eGo.

Thank you both!

St_Francisco, I am hearing you say that you really like it ... and that is what is important! Commendations for leapfrogging over most of us (with our e-cig choices as newbies) to what is the latest and appears to be at least one of the greatest models. And thanks for that comment about that doctoral dissertation* of mine.

*Not literally. I'm still only Mr. DaBoomVape and I have to call my wife "Master" (because she has an M.S. degree to my B.A.).;) [You better know that I'm teasing. Our respective degrees are factual, but we address each other with cuddlier names. And if you call me "Mr." I'll bop ya!]

Kelemvor, I certainly don't mind your jumping in, since you answered my question. St_Francisco can speak for himself, but I suspect he doesn't mind hearing more about his own e-cig model and how it compares with others.

I'd like to know what kind of battery is inside. Is it something special or just a typical off-the-shelf Li-on that can't be cheaply replaced. The typical Ultra/Trustfire 14500 900mAh batteries really don't work as well as their ratings would suggest with true Joye 510 atties. The initial voltage drop is fairly rapid. They may outlast a 510 Mega Battery, but the Mega seems to maintain a higher voltage longer.

I can't tell you what kind of battery is in it, because I don't know...I can tell you that they aren't replaceable (in case you didn't know). I can also tell you that there is ZERO drop-off in battery performance as you go through the charge. In fact, it's one thing a lot of ego users rave about. You'll never know your battery is going dead until it goes dead. You don't get any hints. The last hit is just as good as the first hit.

dude, +1 on the Opeth intro. I like the relaxed review style too. The eGo looks pretty cool, I've been reading about it and was about 2 clicks from buying one when the price was lower. Im also curious about how long these batteries will last and if they will be available later for non-kit re-up purchases ( hopefully not 30 bucks a piece). I may have missed this if anyone said it already, but how easy is it to clean if the atty floods out the air holes?

Haha, thanks for the Opeth kudos...they're awesome.

Mik has said that the batteries will not be available for individual purchase...one of my complaints about the unit. However, each battery is supposed to hold 200 charges, so that's 400 days of vaping, which works out to 20 cents a day. For the vaping quality I'm getting right now, that's cool with me.

Yeah, definitely one of the best metal bands of this generation.

I hope they don't end up being like regular 510 batteries that seem to lose capacity as they get used every day. 2 months after I got my first 510 kit, the batteries would only hold charge for about 45 minutes of vaping. I guess maybe that's just a limitation of battery chemistry. I think I'm going to try it out and order next week. Thanks for the review, man!

Willy, there is no battery "inside;" it is the battery.

You've put a meter to it I assume? What kind of voltage to you get right off the charger? What's your meter show an hour later and then 3 hours later?
