For the last few days I have started to have issues with my jaws being very tight/clenched and they are also very sore in the mornings. I assume that's from clenching my jaws and grinding my teeth in my sleep. I found an old thread on this issue and read through it but did not find any real resolution to the question there. My feeling is that I may need to reduce my nic level as it seems to become worse after a long vaping session and also worse at night. I've only been vaping for about 10 days. At first I used 24 mg in the morning then switched to 18mg for the rest of the day. Now, it's just 18mg all day long. I was wondering if anyone has had the same issue and, if so, how did you resolve the issue?

I'm not sure How Long you smoked before you switched to e-Cigarettes? Or how many Cigarettes you Smoked when you did?

But for Me, I went thru a Two Week period of Restlessness and Nervousness when I switched. Bad Sleep was one of the things I remember. I think that things will settle down for You. And I wouldn't change much Until you have 30 Days Cigarette Free.

Are you Drinking a Lot of Water? More than you did when you Smoked?

I smoked 1 to 1 1/2 PAD for 30 years. And, I'm drinking a ton of water. I feel much more hydrated than while smoking so I don't think that's an issue. I don't feel extremely restless or nervous in other way (maybe a bit more energetic?)... just have this annoying tightness in my jaws. I keep thinking about seeing people back in the old days (when I was in my 20s) grinding their teeth while on [MODERATED]. That's why I thought it might be the nicotine since it's a stimulant? But, I've never put the cigs down before so I also know it could be a side effect of quitting.

You Smoked about what I did. And for about as Long as I did.

Like I said, for Me, I had a Lot of Nervous Energy when I switched. And My Sleep habits Changed Dramatically. But after about 4 Weeks, things slipped back to Normal.

I think the Same will happen to you. Try eating a Bowl of Dry Cereal and Milk or a Snack before you go to Sleep.

BTW - Congratulations on Switching to e-Cigarettes.

First, congratulations on quitting!!!
I'm no doctor (my disclaimer...lol) but you may be experiencing a bit of withdrawal. Being a chronic pain pt I've been taken on and off more meds than I can remember as well as quitting cigarettes numerous times. They symptoms are pretty much the same. Your body is "looking" for something it wants and when it doesn't find it you pay for it. That is my simplistic way of saying you are "jonesin". It will pass. Drinking OJ helped me. Activity also helps.

Thank you both for the congrats and the advice. I'll just ride it out for a while and hope things settle at some point. I have just started having other withdrawal symptoms (sore and bleeding gums, tummy upset) so it makes perfect sense that the "nervous energy" would go along with it. Sometimes, just having a little reassurance from people who have been there before me is all that is needed :)

But really try sleeping on your side and if possible pick up a teeth grinding bite piece, if it persists for more than a month see a sleep specialist.

Oh man, I went through some SERIOUS jaw clenching after quitting. It was so bad, it caused my teeth to migrate and I couldn't close my jaw all the way because my teeth weren't lined up and my jaw muscles were so tight. Eventually, after about a week of this, I stopped clenching my jaw and my teeth went back to normal and now all is well.

Thank you for sharing this! It is very helpful to me to hear similar stories and to keep thinking that it is all part of the process and will pass....eventually :)

Geez.... wonder if that's why my bite is all messed up. Being terrified of the dentist, doubt I'll ever have any braces or whatever put in ....lol

It will pass soon, I wouldn't worry too much about it. As others have said you're body is going through a lot of changes, but will settle down soon.

Must admit, I've been a teeth grinder for years. But it tends to happen when I've had a stressful day. The dentist did make a bite guard for me a few years ago, but to be honest it was that tight I couldn't sleep when wearing it. If you've not been a persistent grinder previously, it won't be a continued problem. Try lowering the nicotine before bed, or vape a bit less. This should help too.

late night vapes definitely kept me up. its a stimulant after all.

Vaping has a lower efficiency than smoking. A 30 min Vape sesh on an evic using 18mg/ml liquid = complete 1.8% analog cig smoked in 5 mins. I hope this lets you gauge how much nic you are intaking vs cigs before you go to sleep.
I've always been curious about the math when equating vaping and smoking. Is there a reference you got this info from I could take a peek at? TIA.....:vapor:

Could definitely be a factor. Guess I will have to schedule a massage. Which is just TERRIBLE!!
