The hubby and I had a HIGHLY stressful day today. I am finding that I am jittery most of the time and with the stress today, it was really pronounced...hands shaking and feeling generally anxious inside. My question is: Did anyone else experience when they were first transitioning from smoking to vaping and what could be causing this? Am I overdoing the nicotine and therefore jittery due to that or am I suffering some withdrawals due to not enough nicotine or a little bit of both? Any insight would be much appreciated. THANKS!!! :(

jj2, I didn't want to kill anyone, but I sure as hell felt like I might have an emotional meltdown! Today was a HUGE test, but we did pretty good and actually were supportive of each other instead of tearing each other to shreds. I can't promise that wouldn't have happened if we weren't both getting some nicotine in our systems. Needless to say, though, we were pretty much on a constant vape-a-thon! ;)

See then it wasn't such a bad day after all.

When smoking analogs there are a lot of tiny particulates in the smoke that traps nicotine or otherwise keeps it from entering the bloodsteam via the lungs. With vaping, there is nothing to inhibit the uptake of nicotine at the exchange site. So technically vaping is a more efficient way of getting nicotine into your system, but its a lot easier to get too much, and therefore cause the jitters, increased heart rate, feelings of anxiety, etc... So lower nic mg's or less frequent vaping and see if that helps. If it doesn't then maybe there is an underlying cause not related to vaping at all, so keep that in mind too. Good luck and keep us posted :)

I am using 18mg and have to admit that I was pretty much vaping constantly. My husband is on the 36mg and still feels somewhat unsatisfied at times but we have only been at this for a few days.

I'm not always satisfied by the e-smoke, but I've had problems with my vape (recently corrected).

I was smoking full flavored american spirit menthols which pack a significant punch. I haven't had too bad of withdrawls because I'd cut back my smoking again (after recently starting up again).

I also take a TON of supplements to help me with mood and such. I take SAM-e, Maca, Mucuna Dopa and other supps to support mood and am not prone to too much anxiety as such. I have noticed that some of my general sourness I was getting when quitting is all but eliminated by the e-cig.

Not sure if this is helpful information or not, but I'm sure you'll adjust over time.

That's the drawback with vaping...there is no start and end like a cigarette. I vape constantly and have to make myself put it down. The jitters can also be a result of your body adjusting to not having to process all the chemicals and carcinogens you were getting with each and every cigarette. Your body doesn't know what to do with all the extra life and energy reserve...maybe a romantic interlude can take the edge off...might work:)

Hmmm...that sounds like a GREAT suggestion AND I think you might be hitting the nail on the head with the adjusting to not getting all of the chemicals and carcinogens. Unfortunately, we are both physically and emotionally drained after the taxing day and the hubby is already passed out and snoring. We will definitely give your suggestion a try though, and see if that doesn't help! Thanks for the input.... Both ideas sound like viable reasons/suggestions. ;)

I'd bet those jitters were withdrawal from the other stuff in your cigarettes that you're no longer getting with vaping. Hang on and it will pass. It might jump back up again a couple time in the next few weeks but vape your way through it and it will stop happening.

Congrats to you and your husband on vaping. Expect a few bumps here and there as you find what works best for each of you but know that those bumps are all worth the effort in the long run.

Could be either. Too much nicotine is often accompanied by rapid or irregular heartbeat and/or headache.

Too little nicotine or vaping juices that don't calm you can also cause jitters. When I started vaping I discovered I could not vape food flavors - they left me craving an analog as if I had just eaten. I had to vape tobacco juices with good TH and food aroma. Around the end of the second month I started adding cocoa, chocolate, vanilla or caramel juices to my tobacco juices and that seduced me over to vaping non-tobacco flavors alone. Especially the cocoa since most US cigs have cocoa in them. Other people may find vaping tobacco juices gives them analog cravings and they have to only vape other flavors. And some can vape anything right away. So pay attention to how your various flavors make you feel.

If you recently started vaping, you could just be getting over the 4000 other chemicals in analogs which include things like MAO inhibitors. Remember to drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration and take vitamins.

If you are not getting enough TH to satisfy you then use juices with more PG to let the TH through, or with more nicotine, or buy a better ecig. Around 3-4 weeks many people end up buying a different ecig to try. KR808D-1 (like Vapor4Life and SmokelessImage Volt) are real 3.7v slim minis and can give a hotter drier hit with some cartos. I use Vapor4Life WOW cartos. To get a bigger hit than that you have to skip slim ecigs and use fat battery models like Ego or Riva 510 or mods, either with the hotter LR low resistance atomizers or cartomizers.

i have an anxiety/panic disorder and i found that when i quit i went through a few months where my anxiety was a little heightened, and i've always been at either 6mg or 0mg nicotine when vaping. the doc told me it very well might have been because i gave up one of my major "vices" for dealing with my anxiety, even though i was substituting it with vaping. if you were never prone to panic or anxiety before though, then it's probably just too much nicotine.

try switching to a lower nic level or give yourself more time between vaping. it's very easy to over-vape, because you can do it almost anywhere since it doesn't stink up your home or work place and is generally accepted by non-smokers. instead of just chain-vaping, act like it's a real cig. go outside on your porch for a vape break or wait until after you eat instead of just suckin' on the thing all day just because you can :)

good luck!

Madison, you have to give it time, your brain needs to reset and resolve it's need for all the chemicals. Once it gets used to the E-cigs..things will calm down. Right now all you are thinking about is E-cigs and how to stay off analogs. Try to refocus as best you both can. See a movie, do some crafts or paint the house! LOL
Good luck!

HAHAHAHA!!! Thanks, Mary Kay. I think that I will wait until after the extreme heat of summer to paint the house.
