My girlfriend/wife type thing wants me to find ..

  • Something that will look good/work with her Protank 2s. I can't tell if the airflow system will work well with them or not..
  • Something that uses 18650s
  • Something 'colorful n' cute'.
  • Something very simple --> So there are no cheap Chinese boards in there to worry about dieing.
  • Something very cheap --> So she can buy 4 or 5 and not care if she drops or loses 1 or 2 (This will 100% happen).
  • Something that vapes pretty good, but not insane. That's up to her really, i guess. I'm thinking 1.2 on a mech would do it (She knows how to rebuild them)?
.. Anyone have any experience with these? Is there anything else that fits the above requirements i should be looking at?

The polished SS version of the link OP posted arrived with my vapemail yesterday. It is a pretty solid piece. Doesn't get much less complicated for a mech mod. Low profile top cap, 18650 tube, silver plated top and bottom pins (both are adjustable), a spring and insulator for the bottom button and that's it.

Had to do a little bit of fiddling (less than 10 mins) with the top and bottom firing pins to get my Igo L flushed and firing, and to alleviate slight battery rattle but now that it's set up correctly it hits pretty hard and is quite the looker. I'd imagine a Protank 1-3 would look awesome on the polished version.

Definitely worth the <$20.

Thanks for the reply. She says "those are all ugly" :p

The 18650-only polished JM22 clone arrived with my vapemail yesterday. It is a pretty solid piece. Doesn't get much less complicated for a mech mod. Low profile top cap, 18650 tube, silver plated top and bottom pins (both are adjustable), a spring and insulator for the bottom button and that's it.

Thanks. What batterys are you using?

I've got the polished SS one as well. It does look very good w/a Protank but I have an AGA T2 sitting atop mine - looks like they were made for each other.

Good solid build, threads are smooth too. It's a very basic, no frills mod, short throw on the switch as you can imagine from the pictures. The spring is strong enough to set it down unlocked with the AGAT 2 and not fire.

I don't know about the silver plated contacts, they can't really have a very high silver content at that price. I am debating whether to take it down to bear brass or not. A pretty solid beater when it comes down to it.

I'm using the Panasonic NCR18650PF (flat top) in it, I don't do sub ohm.

To adjust the center pin:

- Take off the top and remove the jam nut from the center pin.

- Back the center pin off a little and screw the atty on till it's flush. If the atty doesn't sit flush, back the center pin off a little more.

- Once the atty sits flush, screw the center pin back in until it stops.

- Put the jam nut back on and adjust it until your battery fits snug.

If yours comes like mine, the jam nut is loose in the battery tube, don't lose it when you take it apart.

The Origin clone is calling my name... but the Caravela clone winked at me :)

Thanks for all the info :)

Hows the airflow with the protank? Hate to ask, but could i trouble you for a pic of the protank on it? hehe

To be honest, my Protank is a FT clone, but between the channels on the JM, which are as deep and wide as those on the Protank - they have to intersect somewhere. If your asking if you get an "airy" vape - yes.

News to me.
(2)eVics
Vamo
JY Lava Tube
(5) Kick Modules

And not a single failure to Date - Several pieces are 1 year or older. Heck, I have knock-off Egos(w/pass through) that still work like New after 14 months.

Nemesis is #1 in function
KTS Plus is also a very good performer once the contacts are cleaned.

The only thing on your list that approaches that is the Vamo or fasttech nemesis. 4 or 5 vamos/nemesis'? Not cheap. The Vamo is extremely ugly and long. And does randomly die. Maybe yours doesn't because you have so many other things to use hehe. Meaning your not going to use it all day every day. Nemesis is ok i guess.

Yeh, my FT Vamo 5 died on me 10 days after receiving it. Never left my desk where I have a mod stand and it wasn't my goto mod - I won't buy another cheap vv/vw mod. As a matter of fact, I am off to the PO to send it back for store credit.

The Nemmy clone, on the other hand, is more than OK in my book and it is my goto mod ATM. It has a lot going for it. It does 18350, 18490/500 and 18650 batteries and you can add a kick with any of them. It's very well machined and the switch alone nearly makes it nearly worth the extra cost over the JM clone - upgrade it to use magnets (making for a smoother throw) for around $10. It's only about 1/16 taller than the JM clone and yet it has an adjustable air flow control built-in. And, no jam nut to fool with.

It is not as rugged as the JM cone tho. If I dropped them both on their switch from 6'on to a sidewalk, the Nemmy's switch would most likely be toast while the JM's would probably survive. You might have to take some pliers to straighten it out but there is enough solid metal there to keep it from being destroyed, it's pretty heavy duty, the plinth where the neg post screws in is about 16mm wide. It just doesn't have the "elegance" of a lot of other mods.

I'm talking about the ss version of coarse, the anodized aluminum tube version has chrome plated brass end caps which are softer.

I have had the below mod for a week now and it works great. I love the size with the 18350 tube it is a few inches shorter than mt nautral and magneto with the RSST. In fact using a 18490 tube it is the same size as my other mods in 18350 mod.

$19.64 JM Mechanical Mod Kit - 18350&18500&18650 tubes at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I own a Natural as well, but lets be honest here, there is no way 18350/18350 comparison, that mod is "a few inches" shorter... Conceivably maybe an inch at the most!!!
