Johnson Creek just recently revamped all of their recipes in expectation of satisfying the FDA.
They talk about it on their website, and feel they are more than ready.

More that ready? Really? Cause unless they REMOVE nicotine from their juice completely, they will never satisfy the FDA unless they file and go through a New Drug Application process AND receive approval. And to be quite honest, I doubt the FDA will ever approve a liquid formula of nicotine in the current concentration level for general human consumption. If anything at all, it will be more the likes of a sealed cartridge type of system. So, I will state again, that any liquid containing nicotine that has not gone through a NDA process and received approval, is an unapproved drug and is being marketed illegally in the US, as far as the FDA is concerned.

The only way Johnson Creek is "revamping" their juice to satisfy the FDA is if they *remove* the nicotine completely. Otherwise, they can go through the New Drug process and hope for approval... Big Pharma is not going to allow some little wannabe juice company to come along and market nicotine and take market share from their NRT products without having to go through the NDA process as they did. Big Pharma will also fight very dirty when JC tries to go through the process, if they ever do...

I foresee one letter or visit from the FDA and that will be the end of Johnson Creek, unless they wish to sell their juice without nicotine...

I'm glad they don't share your views, and sincerely hope they are right and you are not.

I sincerely hope I'm not right either. But I'm pretty sure I am from an FDA point of view. :( It took Nicolite years and years to get approved for a nicotine homeopathic solution. It contains nicotine in such small concentration, that it is barely detectable. And thats no good to most of us vapers.

Pretty sure when JC revamped they went with lobelia instead of tobacco/nicotine. Plus they screwed up what used to be pretty good juice, imo. I sent the new stuff back, although it was a flawless return. A canadian supplier still has some of the old stuff - last I looked.

Kent, I never got to try the old stuff but I did buy some of the new and have to add vg to it to get it to vape right. It seems really thin. What is lobelia?

There's still some old stuff left here:

Johnson Creek Smoke Juice - Old Formula

.. but I see the tenn. cure is gone now. A true loss for the ecig community, imho. From many reports - new JC plus PTB means much leakage it's so thin.

Lobelia is a substitute for nicotine. Wiki has the whole rundown but the chemical lobeline does some of the same things - making some of the same 'neural connections' that nicotine does. It is considered one form of 'synthetic nicotine' that is not tobacco based or in the current legal terms it is not a 'product of tobacco'. Drew uses some of it in his lung juice.

You could search it here too. Lacey U was on to it very early on and has information - there was period where the side effects from misuse dominated discussion but that is not that much difference with nicotine, and now it is a viable alternative, imo. It is available at some health food outlets as an extract and I picked some up at a good price just to have but will have to do much more study before I incorporate it into my DIY stuff. Right now I have enough of the other stuff but if things 'change' ;-) I may look further into it - now it's in a safe location.
