Hey all, my Red Oak sample pack arrived so here is the 1st.
I like to spend a bit of time with each flavor so I'm going to do one flavor every twenty four hours (or so) until I get the entire lineup vaped and rated.
All reviews are being done on a newly broken in 510 atty with a fresh cart attached to the Janty designed TW knock-off Tornado battery.
This won't be about the service or the packaging or the colors on the website, this is about one thing and one thing only, the juice.
First up and without further ado.
Domestic 18mg:
The first thing that struck me was the lack of sweetness. Every liquid I have had in the past has had some degree of sweetness, most of the time it varied from very extremely extra obnoxiously super sweet all the way down to a low of super extra mega omg I'm sucking on a sugar cube sweet so to say I was stunned at the lack of sweetness would be an understatement. Now this is probably just my lack of experience with tobacco flavors other than Dekang combined with the way I like to pull the vapor over my tongue so you guys may know of dozens of tobacco flavors that don't taste that way. If there are non-sweet tobacco juices out there I have not found them yet until now and I am liking the experience if for no other reason right now than the novelty of it.
JCs Domestic seems to take many of the flavor notes popular in the Chinese juices that we are familiar with and by removing the sweetness from them make them an entirely new flavor. The tobacco flavor itself reminds me a bit of the "roll your own" brand Drum.
The caramel is still there as is the nut taste, in this case with the sweetness dialed out the flavor reminds me of walnut or maybe almond but think the skin of the nut instead of the meat. I also seem to get a tiny bit of coconut flavor but once again more like the smell of the husk instead of the fruit inside.
In some ways the flavor is just flat out bland or maybe plain but I hate to use those words because I don't want you to think I'm using them in a bad way, just.... different. Maybe the word is "plain Jane" but you use that term because all the rest of the flavors you have tried had Jane getting assaulted by Lorans flavor drops after she had bathed in karo syrup.
The vapor production is awesome on this juice, easily matching the best of the dekangs I have tried, great hangtime too. I tend to take pretty shallow inhales since I have found that it gives me a bit more throat hit and also leaves plenty of vapor for an enjoyable exhale. With this juice I found myself taking analog style deeper inhales filling your lungs while still getting plumes of vapor on the exhale.
The throat hit itself is nice if not overwhelming and at least on par with the other 18mgs in my juice stash. If you are a TH hound (and I am) it's acceptable. To be completely honest that in itself is actually a nice accomplishment for a zero PG recipe.
I don't normally do the number thing but just this once I'm going to try it out and see if I like it or not so here goes.
Flavor 7/10
Vapor 9/10
Throat 6/10
My conclusion is this is a pretty decent product, worthy of a place in your stash if for no other reason than when you are tired of the relentless sweetness of the rest of your juices Domestic is a nice little place to visit even if you would not want to live there.
thanks all, look for the next one tomorrow night.
