Joy E 510 coming today!! Now what?

For those of you who use the Joy E 510:

I ordered mine on Monday and according to USPS tracking I should get it today. This is my first e-cig and I am very excited and hope to enjoy it as much as many of you do, and also hope to never smoke an analog again.

I ordered a kit with 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, 5 cartridges, a PCC and a 15ML bottle of Marlboro juice.

When I get home and open my box, what do I do?

I know I should charge the batteries for 8 hours. I have read about cleaning the atomizer out...how do I do that?

Any hints, suggestions would be great.

I ordered a Joye 510 that will be arriving to me today too. Going to be first-time vaper too.

From what I have heard on other forum posts, you rinse it out with hot water, make sure it is dried thoroughly before using it again (with cart on, it needs to be wet from the cart, can't be just the atty and the battery).

Also, I read that you just need to wait until the light is green on the charger, no need for 8 hour wait.

1st) There is absolutely no need to charge the batteries for 8 hours. You'll drive yourself insane and will be wasting your time. Once the green light comes on, you can start to vape. That's a FACT. You can actually vape before that, but you will get less vaping time before you need to recharge.

2nd) Rinsing out the primer is a personal decision. It does not need to be done. And if you rinse it out with water... it can literally take many, many hours for the water to evaporate from the internals of the atomizer. And you won't get a good vape until all of the water is gone.

Keep it simple. Charge a battery. Screw on the atomizer completely. If you have some e-liquid, put a drop or two on the tip of the atomizer bridge... if you don't have any e-liquid.. don't worry about it.

Open up a cartridge and put it on the atomizer. It's not a bad idea to align the flats of the cartridge with the atomizer bridge.. although many don't.

Take long, light drags. At first, you may not get any vapor at all. Or you might get some "interesting" tasting vapor. Just "mouth inhale" (don't lung inhale) until you get decent vapor production and it doesn't taste bizarre. And go slow with the "puffing". If you puff, puff, puff you're just going to overheat your atomizer.. burn your liquid.. and ruin the experience.

Vapor production should increase the the flavor should normalize in a short period of time. But that being said, the vapor production and flavor will usually continue to increase over the course of the first day or so.

Be patient... take your time.. don't jump to conclusions... and don't start "straw modding" or "PTB'ing" or any other dayum thing until you've got days if not weeks under your belt.

Right now you don't know good vapor from bad vapor, good taste from bad taste, or if a "problem" is due to a cart issue, an atomizer issue, or a battery issue.

It's "between" the atty and the cartridge.

When you look down into the atty from the cartridge end, you will see a "hump" sticking up covered in metal mesh. That's the "bridge".

Congrats you guys! Good luck and I hope you enjoy vaping as much as many of us do. Just remember if you have any problems right off the bat just ask questions and keep at it. Whatever you do don't give up.

I've found that even after blowing out a new atty, the nasty flavour can linger for a day or two (depending on how often you vape).

It will go away after a few days though and the true flavour of all those yummy juices you've bought will come through.

I would personally leave the batteries to charge for at least a few hours, make sure they are good and ready.

Bottom line don't make any judgements on your kit until you've been using it for three or four days and the atty is properly broken in and the primer taste is long gone.

If I were you, I'd charge the battery until it's green, put 2 drops of juice on the atty bridge and 5 or so in the cart, and fire that baby up.

But I'm not you.

P.S. There are lots and lots of juice options out there. Don't get discouraged if you dislike the "Marlboro" you ordered. There are other tobacco-flavor options, and a whole world of flavors beyond tobacco.

(Be careful with that "adding drops to the cartridge". Often the 510 factory cartridges are overfilled to beging with.. adding liquid is just begging for a flooded atty)

I am getting 5 "filled" cartrdiges with my order. How do I know when they need to be filled? DO cartridges ever go bad, meaning is there a limit to how many times they can be filled?

Thje best thing you can do to make your 510 work great is buy Lypton Pyramid Teabags and learn how to use themm to replace the Polyfill cart filler!!!

You will know that they have run dry when the vape starts to get thin and tastes a bit "burnt".

There is virtually no limit on how many times you can refill a cartridge. After a while, the polyfill gets a little nasty and will not wick the e-liquid as well. At that point you can try to clean the polyfill, replace the polyfill, or find an alternate substitute for the polyfill (i.e. PTB).

Your mileage may vary... but this is your first day. DO NOT concern yourself with stuff like PTB and other mods yet. You honestly don't know what you are doing and don't know what a "good vape" is.

From my experience you really don't need to do anything fancy. I'd just charge the battery until the light is green, put it together and go.

The primer fluid went away quickly for me and didn't taste that bad anyway.

Do NOT rinse with water. You don't want fluid in the atomizer which will not vaporize. If the primer fluid is an issue you can blow it out by blowing into the battery side of the atomizer. You can also gently poke a napkin into the atomizer to soak some of it up.

As the cart dries the vapor will get a little harsh, dry, and thin. You can just add drops to the cart until it is full. When its full the fluid will pool at the top and no more can be absorbed.

If you use it heavily you'll want to charge batteries early and often. When a battery is done charging I go ahead and swap it out. With heavy use you can drain them faster than they charge.

If you find you like it, and you probably will, your next mission will be to decide on more juice and parts. The juice is a matter of taste of course.

For parts I'd recommend having at least one extra atomizer and one extra battery on hand. After a month of heavy use and cleaning my atomizers still work, but they still needed to be replaced. My batteries are still good after a month but I have 4 of them.

You'll have to kind of eyeball your juice and estimate how much you use and need. Buying a few different flavors helps create a backup supply and is fun.

The PTB mod is great if you great if you want to play with it.
