I think that's called "tail piping". It won't harm anything, but if you like it you might want to get a drip tip to put on the end and make yourself a bit more comfortable: Driptip

If the PV works as long as there's no cart on it, though, then there must be something wrong with the cart filler. try using it like you are but take the stuffing out of the cart first (just to see what's wrong with it): so take the stuffing out, drip into the atty, put the cart back on and see if that works.

If that works then you have some thick, horrid filler in it. You can either snip some of it away so it's not so thick or else just toss the filler and put a little square of this stuff in it: Marineland Magnum Foam Sleeve "Rite-Size U" 3pk. you can get it at any pet store that sells aquarium stuff.

FWIW: I mostly just use a drip tip now, it's just so much easier than fiddling around with the cart filler. I guess the technology is still new and all the kinks aren't worked out yet. :)

So the drip tip is basically something like an empty cart, that you drip your juice into, and it hits the atty directly? I've wondered what they are for and how they work.

That's exactly what they are. So you don't have to take them off if you want to drip directly into the atty. Just drip down the hole and it funnels the juice into the atty.

I always give mine a little blow to help the juice go down, but they're so easy!!

A bit of advise... When blowing out our atty into a paper towel, close your eyes! I made the mistake of not closing my eyes one time and got a drop of juice in my eye. If you think smoke from an analog in the eye hurts... LOL

LOL! I've done that too... man that smarts! Talk about eye-watering, my poor eye just kept watering and watering and watering. LOL.

But until I get drip tips, from what I am reading here, it wont hurt to forego the cart altogether and drip a couple drops directly on the atty? It just seems a better hit for me. It isn't just my filter filler material as was suggested as its the same way even when i am using a brand new filter. Just seems to work better w/out it. Just wanted to be sure i wasn't seriously killing the life of the atty doing that.

yes, but what about with no filler in the cart - just drip on the atty, put the empty cart without any filler in it back onto the atty and try that. (I mean, it shouldn't make a difference, but doesn't it get HOT?)

Or - to be more clear- no, it won't hurt the atty at all, I'm just worried that you'll burn your lips. :)

I just got my DSE901 after reading that it has GREAT vapor, about this same time I read a post that the 901 vap is not that thick (vap volume is MOST important, after nic. & TH of course). And true to the post, the 901 does not have enough vapvolume for me (others may be fine with this).

Now, I am afraid to TRY returning it, (100% satisfaction guarantee is on their bus. card). I have had nightmares with returning internet ordered merchandise in the past. I don't know what to try doing first. Call them, email them, whatever. I can hear the rebuttals now: Did you assemble it correctly, did you this, did you that, Are you sure you're (not)... (fill in the blank). Since NO company wants to take their product back. It should be: If you're not completely satisfied.... Well, does anybody know how to approach this? It's not like I want to use it up and return it for my money back. I REALLY want to find a product I like that can help me quit the analogs. I just need a lot of vapor, TH and nicotine (heavy smoker). I don't think that is too much to ask. Anybody...?

BTW: Are all 510's the same from company to company?

You won't know if it's going to be a hassle to return until you give it a try. Call them and if they don't answer, email them. You could always tell a little white lie and say you tried your friends eGo and liked it much batter. Or you could go with the truth and say you just aren't satisfied with the TH and you think you'll have better results with a different product. Just don't take 'no' for an answer!

The card says 'satisfaction guaranteed', right? Are you satisfied? no.

As for the 510's; some people swear you have to get a genuine Joye product, but I personally think they're all the same. HOWEVER, that being said, I would highly recommend getting an eGo (or the like; tornado, riva ego, riva 510) because the battery life is much better and you won't have the frustration of having to switch out the batteries every couple of hours.

Good Luck!

What holds the juice in the cart if there is no media to hold it? Or does the drip tip have media (or something similar) in it already? And are these drip tips a sealed unit (you can't get into them to clean them), what have you (basically disposable)?

The drip tip is just sort of a mouthpiece. There's no filler.

Here's the thing about carts vs. drip tips IMO:

When I used carts, I was always fussing around with the cart filler! First I had to replace it with blue foam - that works a little bit better than the stock filler for making sure the juice gets up to the atty. But it still wasn't great. It seemed like all I did all day was pop off the cart, mess with tweezers, drip stuff in, fluff up the stuff or squish it around, wipe it, put on the cart, take it off, drip into the atty, put it back on..... on and on and on.....

I thought, what's the point of having carts if they don't help the juice get up to the atty?!? It got so frustrating! Yea, not a very patient person... but after all, I'm trying to quit smoking here, why make it harder than it has to be!

I find that with the drip tip, I am not really dripping any more often than I was 'topping off' with the carts, the difference is that A) I can't taste any cart filler, 'cause there isn't any.... and B) I don't have to take the mouthpiece of and mess around, just drip, drip, drip, blow the juice down the hole and vape. Three drips last me about 10-15 drags and then I drip a few more in there. So much easier.

As for the construction: they are basically like a straw. Hollow so you can rinse them out. They have a little gasket near the end that keeps them in place. They don't become loose with regular use like the carts did, maybe because I'm not taking them off and putting them back on again all day.

Good Luck!

rosa it's like you entered my mind! LOL That is EXACTLY my thoughts on carts. I am NOT patient either. I've only been doing this a week and was already just over taking them out, dripping, situating them with a paperclip, wiping it off, putting it back in, so I just said screw it and started dripping right into the atty. Did this all last night and it was a MUCH more enjoyable experience!

THe poster above mentioned not liking the ES901. is this the same as the Joye 510? its also mentioned somewhere here non joye 510s MIGHT Not be as good. How do you know if you truly got an authentic 510 product? Mine said joye 510 on the product description, that means its legit, right?

I truly think my battery charger is bad. MOst of the time after a few hours the red light turns to green and i know its charged. Put one on last night, went to bed, its still red this morning. I think that might be where all the probs are that I have iwth this thing not pulling decent hits like the other night. I suspect the charger just didn't charge fully. I think last night it did charge fully as it turned green and i vaped great all night, right into the atty. its a very cheap looking charger anyway, and the card is so short. Never have seen a charger with such a short power cord. All the probs I had in my orig post on this thread I do believe might come down to a fault battery charger. I even think the new PCC charger i bought is bad. I put the battery in and close it, the red charging light only stays on about five minutes and then goes off. Anyone know if that is normal? ( i know I am full of questions!)

I might just consider it money lost and lessons learned and buy an eGo. I am sure im not the first person to want something different than what they initially bought.

Rosa, the atty doesn't get hot...the only place it gets hot is where the battery screws into the atty, no where near my mouth really. I have the Mega joye 510 kit so the battery and atty are both extra long. I got a replacement battery and att in the mail yesterday that i ordered, and that is when i realized i had the mega kit. Replacements were both HALF the size of what i have now.

As for the charger: one time, I screwed in my battery to be charged while the light was still blinking. When I got up the next day, it hadn't charged at all. Now I always wait until the warning light (the one that flashes, like, 20 times) stops before I plug it in.

Also: here's what one vendor told me: "blah, blah, blah... charger. Blah, blah, blah.. reset itself. Blah, blah, blah... why you should wait until it's completely dead before recharging. Blah, blah, blah.... every one that you charge after it."

So, based on that advice, I always wait until the batteries are completely dead before recharging them. After I started doing it that way, the batteries seemed to last longer and I got better results from them.

Mine doesn't even flash like you speak of. It is green then turns red immediately once the batt is screwed in all the way.

I kind of think i was given a generic charger. It just seems cheaply made. I know that sounds weird to say but it doesn't look very well built.

Its kind of hard for me to wait until the batt is completely dead becasue i dont use it all day. only at night - approximately from 7ish to 11ish or whenever i go to bed. So if i dont go ahead and put on charge before i go to bed i am going to be faced at some point with having to wait a few hours before being able to use it.

The light on the e-cig flashes, not the charger.

I think they all look like that, fairly generic.

Please don't tell me you only have one battery! DANGER! DANGER! You simply must have at least two (preferably more) so you can have one you are using and one in the charger ready to go. PLUS, what if it dies?

My responses in bold:

No i have two batteries. I just am having a tough time with timing - being able to use them both until completely dead before charging. Kind of a timing issue. I guess I could use one until dead, then use the other, but right now it is VERY difficult for me to know if they are both really charged right, know what I mean? In other words, let's say i use one tonight until dead, then use my back up. The way this sketchy charger works, i fear that while i THINK it is fully charged, it might not be and then im stuck all night with none.

If i thought the charger was working right this wouldn't be a problem, but it is not appearing to work right as the other night when i had all those issues according to the green light on charger BOTH batteries should have been charged, but neither one appeard to be. So i am hesitant to use one until fully dead and rely on batt number two.

I know your frustration. And I just read your thread on biting the bullet and getting an eGo, so it probably a moot point, but...

When I was talking to the vendor, I think what they were trying to say was that the charger has some sort of memory or something, so if you keep recharging your batts when they aren't only half dead then the charger will think that it only takes 20 minutes to charge a battery ('cause that's how long it took to charge a partially full battery) so it'll start to only charge stuff for 20 minutes before giving you the green light.

I've had people here tell me that's just crazy talk, but I swear it made a difference!
