I've done a bunch of research and have decided on getting a joye 510 w/ cartomizer. I smoke about 3 cig's a day and am just looking to replace smoking cig's with the e cig.

The reason I like the 510 is because it's small and it can look like a normal cig (I have no interest in drawing attention to myself in public)

I have been reading that the low resistance cartomizers are better than the normal ones and I was wondering what battery I need to get to use a LR. 90% of the websites don't say the mAh of the battery or the ohm. I def won't get the LR if I have to use a fat battery.

Agreed with previous poster. You will use the charge faster and have less vaping time between charges. I am going to differ with you about 'not drawing attention' while in public. If john-q public sees a red or blue or pink stick that looks like a cigarette then that is exactly what they think it is. An ecig is a personal vaporizer. Since smokers are considered societies 'step-children' anyway, why would you want them to think it was a cigarette? just my 2 cents. If you got something that looks like a sharpie(Riva510) then they would be more inclined to think differently about it. Especially since they would not be able to smell the 'smoke'.

Normal joye attys run from 2.1-2.3Ω You get a lot of 2.1's too. If you're vaping the Boge 2.0Ω cartos you should be good on a mega 510 - I know it's not recommended but I've seen some vendors say 340mAh and others say 440+. The mega is at 280. The battery will run out of charge faster and hence the total battery life will decrease but I wouldn't worry about anything else. If you're running 1.5-1.7Ω then that's a bit different. On any vaping - refill/redrip at the first sign of decline in flavor - ie keep it wet and you should be good. If you vape it dry - you'll burn the carto internals and stress the coil and the battery.

Well I wouldn't smoke it in a restaurant. Just in bars, where smoking here is legal.

But that is the point I was trying to make. Ecigs are not illegal.....it is not smoking. There is nothing that burns on an ecig. the definition of a cigarette or cigar or pipe includes burning tobacco...that is the part that is illegal......

Yes, most kits usually have 2 attys plus the cartridges, Just make sure that the the threads are the same so they fit..i.e. if you buy a Joy510 reg kit, then you must buy 510 cartomizers so you can screw them into the battery.
Sometimes you will see things like 901, 808D, 510.....these all refer to the threads on the battery. Hope this helps.

You should not use a slim 510 battery with LR cartos or attys. 510 battery is 180mah and 510 mega xl is 280mah. You will damage the battery and eventually kill it. People tried. There's a whole thread somewhere on ECF - they tried and after a few weeks their batteries died.

You need a fat battery model or a 3.7v mod that has a 510 connection. Fat battery models are Joye Ego or an Ego clone like Riva 510. And the places I shop certainly list the mah. Like check Liberty-Flights.com and remember to first click the 20% in the upper left corner of the front page. I got a Riva 510 Lite Bundle there for under $30

And if you want to use the decorative cone over cartos then you need to get separately a Riva 901 cone which is shorter with a slightly wider hole and it will screw on the outside of the Riva 510 and fit over a Boge carto. And I recommend an Ego battery clip aka button protector which you will find with the Ego batteries.

Re Boge 2.0's being "better"? It depends on what you want. They are hotter and heat enhances hit.

Honestly...what I want is to smoke "cigarettes" without my hands smelling horrible. My wife is about to start keeping kids and she wants us to quit so we won't be smoking in a kid infested environment and so we won't smell like smoke. So here I am looking for an alternative, I would not say I'm a hard core addict or anything. I just enjoy smoking a few cig's a day, so I am looking for a good alternative without getting into this too deep.

Dormouse has correct info. Small cap batteries like the standard 510 (180mah), and the 510 mega (280mah) will cause you much frustration trying to use LR cartos.

If you are just an occasional cig smoker, a regular carto *should* work just fine for your needs.

If you really want to have the most analog-like experience, my recommendation would be for a KR808 with the standard size (280mah) battery with normal cartos. They also have mega 808 batts that are 380mah, but anything bigger than that will put you in "fat" batt territory.

A moderate vaper may be able to get thru a day with just 1 or 2 KR808 batts, and could prolly use up 1-3 cartos. If you're good at keeping your cell phone charged you may have luck here. I've gone the 808 route myself and was in charge-management hell. I vape all day, and can drain a 280mah KR in an hour or two. I couldn't afford to keep buying cartos at the rate I was using them, had to start topping off.

Then I discovered the Riva, which is about the size of a sharpie in barrel diameter.
