For those that own or have experience with using different batteries. The original Joye battery appears to be an unprotected flat top 2200 mah. I'd like to find a protected flat top replacement or like to know if I can use a standard post protected battery if it fits. I have read a few posts but its unclear exactly what type of battery was used or the charger.

Also if there is a mod to set VV in this unit I am interested. I have one on the way with the stock battery & thinking of buying a back up or two if I can buy safe batteries for this unit.

Thanks

i use these batteries:

AW 18650 2900mah 3,7v protected battery

and these:

AW protected 18650 3.7V 2600 mah

i also have one of these batteries (i have not used it in the ego-t mod yet. i pulled out an extra tube and switch. the battery fits in the tube and the switch screws all the way down. BUT, all i did was QUICKLY test it for size. I have not vaped with the 3100 mah battery in the ego-t mod so not sure how it functions etc.:

AW Protected 18650 3100 mAh

not sure about a VV options....sorry

Thank you Angel Wings! I've gathered more info while waiting for a reply. It appears it has to be a flat top battery like the ones shown in your links. The most important part is they are protected & fit. Can I assume they have a cut off to prevent over & under charged? I can ask the supplier but if you check this thread again can you tell me that & what charger you use. I know they can be charged in the unit but I might want to buy a charger. The VV was in another thread but it was not clear how it was done. Thanks, BTW I Be's an AZ kind of guy. LOL

Any charger that charges an 18650 battery will do fine. I have 2 eGoT mods and albeit the AW 18650 LI-Ion 2600mAh battery fits, it is a tad too long at 67.2mm (because of the protection circuit) vice 65mm for the LI Mn (IMR battery) that is designed for the unit.

If I am not mistaking you are talking about the T2 head for the eGoT mod. All that does is provide straight battery vice operating in PWM Pulse Width Modulation. This particular head is nothing more than a marketing strategy in all honesty.

It is true that the original eGos ran at 3.2/3 unloaded, which resulted in a 2.7V vape "loaded" Since, the battery algorithms have been changed. The eGo batteries now put out 3.3V "loaded". Therefore running on straight battery current results in a couple of hits at a slightly higher voltage than its counter-setting, but the main vape from the battery will ride at 3.4/5V in the beginning and diminish over the run time as the battery wanes. No advantage IMHO. I prefer PWM because the first hit off the battery will be the same as the last hit from the battery before it needs recharging.
