I should also say this unit, though called Mega Ego, is not an ego at all. Just because it has a cone does not make it an Ego. Calling it the 155D would have sufficed. I almost wish I got the 155C as well (the smaller version). I really wish someone at Bauway would acknowledge my emails and concerns. Even a reply of "Hey we got your email and our R&D team is working hard on fixing things." would sate my attempts at helping.

Who are you e-mailing Jackal? I can PM you the details for the couple of folks that I've been back and forth with the last few months.

Why did this device received a negative review?
  • They are cheaply built, but commensurate with their low price point $30;
  • one could have a serious problem trying to source replacement batteries for this unit;
  • proprietary native connection, sourcing replacement atomisers could be a problem;
  • finding replacement cartridges could also be problematic. The ones that came with the unit do not fit (hard tips) but the soft tips do, with minor effort;
  • the switch assy is unsealed and is open to the battery compartment, at a minimum the air inlet should be at the top of the switch assy (atty end) and the bottom positive switch post sealed. Sealing the connectors positive post will render the native connection useless, unless one uses adapters; and
  • the threads are far too shallow. They will eventually wear and can seriously be cross threaded in but a brief moment of inattention.

The two main problems I see with this unit is: sourcing batteries; and atomisers.

I see potential in the 155D Mega Ego from Bauway. The thought of a mass produced unit like this could shake things up with all the home made mods out there. The Chevy Chevette was very popular in the 70's and 80's, even though it was so cheaply made. I had 3 of them. Mass produced disposable cars with cheap parts and were easily maintained. However, the Chevette ran, whereas I can barely get my Mega Ego to vape. I'd like to see Bauway do good on this. They can, if they take the advice of its users, fix the existing problems, and provide fast, efficient customer service on their product. Getting no responses from my emails tells me they're not following through on these points.

Absolutely Jackal. That is why I say things as it is. Let's take the CE2 cartos, they have improved. Are they there yet? No.

Wrt to mass production yes it may affect the mod market, but only if the units are not cheaply made for quick turn around. As long as folks buy sub-par products, mfrs will continue to produce them, it is the way of society. China can easily mfr this unit, and drastically improve the quality at a cheap cost.

Size comparison, this unit is quite the monster when compared to the eGo. (P18 purely for reference)

Also, I have some questions for your development team.
1. What is the voltage of the battery under full working load?
2. What Ohm rating is the atomizer? I ask because the 18650 should be a decent enough battery to support the use of a lower Ohm rated atomizer... say a 1.5-2.0 Ohm atomizer. The would create more wattage, somewhere between 6-8watts, which will create huge, thick plumes of vapor for the user. The 18650 is a good, hard working battery. BIG, but hard working.
3. Have your R&D team thought about making a slightly smaller version with an AW 14500 900mAh protected battery? It is a wonderful, hard working battery with great output.

Fresh battery, 4.16V
Fired no load 3.5V (off harness and off unit)
Fired loaded 3.1V
Atty resistance 2.6Ohm

Definitely not performance.

I have been vaping this unit off and on for the best part of the week. I modified the cone on a sanding disk (shortened it). This permitted the cone to be screwed on with the atty in place. Using the small silicone tube found in KR8s, I was able to seal the battery compartment. As a dripper the atty performs well but lacks in the flavour dept, which 801s usually provide. The modification permits using the unit as an eGo.

The Chinese are planning to invade North America, getting a few vapers out of the way first (pre-amble to battle) LOL.

BTW I like the new banner Gary.

I talked to Max live on skype at the time. I have suggested to them over a month ago (when I received my 1300's from them) to make the next version so that it can be opened from the bottom to replace dead batteries (like the mods). 2x 18650 protected batteries with an opening at the bottom for replacing would be ace. I wish the 3000 would have worked out myself. But Max suggested I do not carry them, now I see why. The 1300's work fine, I've had 4 1300's returned to me (out of 20) because they crapped out after a week. But still just like other ego's, you can't replace the batteries inside. The 1300's are too long IMO. This time I went with Joye's 900mah eGo's since I have never tried a genuine Joye ego. The slightly higher price should be worth it for the longer warranty. Hopefully 900 this will last me all day before recharging.

Thanks for the banner compliment... it cost me a 650 ego kit to have that made.. LOL

Wow! That's a 20% failure rate, not good.

Hence my move to Joye :)

The biggest problem for suppliers was being forced to order x number of kits and also being forced to sell them for x amount of $. I hated the look of the cone, and was against the whole thing. Why sell an ugly item marked up so much? To me it wasn't fair to customers.
The main reason I tried Bauway to begin with was less cost per kit and zero moq. For the price the products aren't bad, when you get one that works.
But now that there is lower moq I can afford to buy a few at a time and offer them at any price so I am giving Joye a shot.
I like the fact that we now can choose between a cone or a mega atty. Have you seen the mega atty's on this sucker? They're Bleepin' HUGE!

You are welcome. There is nothing like taking one for the team. I am glad I didn't buy it. I will always give accurate reviews even if it means that I will be stuck with a piece of crap. This item has only one job, to produce vapor while it can and then see its way to the compost pile. I can't even see myself offering this unit on PIF, yet alone the classifieds.

Use this as a paper weight, Bro..
Thanks for the email for this and I'm glad you did this rather than I. I would have ripped them (Bauway) BIG TIME!!:facepalm:

Funny you say that, Stubear. I DID rip Bauway on this one. Both Max and Emily, my sales rep. I never got one response to the many emails I sent them about it either. Even the juice Bauway is using lately is horrid tasting... as if they watered it down or something to double their stock. The flavors are weak, at best, and have a bitter taste.

I have several Bauway 1300mAh Egos that I've been using and they all seem fine. I even ventured into their "Mega Cartomizers" for their ego. yeah they're huge, but minimal vapor and again the taste is not good.
