Liberty Flights currently has the $40 eGo starter kit (2 batt, 2 atty, 2 cones, charger w/USB, 2 empty carts, 5 prefilled carts, 2 button covers)

That's the one I bought this morning. I had a Revolver Vgo that fried itself in the car yesterday, and then one of my 2 super-mini batts died later that afternoon leaving me with nothing but a single super-mini batt for christmas.

I still gotta say, even though I've already got an ego on the way, and there are so many options on the ego, that Leo still really does something for me. The only thing that would make it better were if the cap covered the button and had a pen-clip.

To answer your other question a cartomizer is an atomizer and cartridge combined. They were originally made to be used once and tossed. Of course vapors being the cheapskates that they are immediately started to refill these things and make them last longer. With some success, they are getting better. Personally I use cartomizers most of the time.

The Leo (with a unique 801-type atomizer, not a 901 atomizer) and the eGO (based on the 510 atomizer) are two very different models. About the only thing they have in common is that they both are examples of the new wider diameter, high mAh e-cig.

My personal favorite (of all the many e-cig atomizers I have tried) is the Leo. [See my review.] I love the feel of the vape. But I have always preferred the penstyle (e.g., 801) atomizer over any other, including the massively popular 510. With the protective cap on, the Leo looks like this:

fourassembledLeosdifferentcolors.jpg

With the cap off (i.e., when you are vaping it), it looks like this:

cigarLeocapoff.jpg

However, I do not necessarily recommend it as a first e-cig. The Leo is not compatible with anything else (including with other penstyle atomizers). The eGO (and its many 510-based brethren) are compatible with each other, with the 510 and 306 atomizers (and the LR versions of those attys), and with enhancements such as higher-mAh XL batteries, mega eGO atomizers/cartridges and cartomizers.

Of the eGO-type e-cigs, the Joye eGO/Tornado (launched by Janty and Totally Wicked) was the first and therefore deserves top honors. It was the most significant innovation in vaping since e-cigs were invented. However, it also tends to be the most expensive. There are also the Riva, Hello 016, T-Rex, Inferno, KGO, at least two different models called "VGO", and "eGo" knock-offs. I think the Riva, Inferno, and VGO (JSB's is the one I'm most familiar with) are the most interesting choices. I would steer you away from the T-Rex and the knock-offs; I don't know enough about the KGO and Royal Smokers VGO to comment; and the Hello 016 is clunky looking (and is less available than it once was).

Of all of them, I agree with roxics: the Riva (original 510 version rather than 901) is the most cost-effective (and it is fully compatible with the eGO and all its enhancements). It came out shortly after the eGO/Tornado and has stood the test of time. At either of two lengths, it has a bit more mAh than the eGO (750 vs. 650 and 1100 vs. 900 or 1000). If you use 20% off discount code "ecf", $30 will indeed get you a two battery/two atomizer 750 mAh Riva kit ("LITE BUNDLE") from Liberty-Flights. It really is a great deal.

If you would prefer higher mAh and/or a longer PV, BreezEsmokes is the first U.S. supplier (to my knowledge) to sell the Riva 1100 (guess what the mAh is). It costs $48 (again two batts/two attys).

With a mega eGO atomizer and cartridge, it would look a bit longer than the top model in this photo of eGO configurations:

I own an ego set and if I had to do it all over again I would go with what Don has stated about the RIVA. It has a LARGER battery and the ONLY other difference that I can tell is that the ignition button is rubber instead of a hard plastic. Also, as Don stated, with Liberty-Flights discount right now...you can purchase this one for $30...that's a heck of a deal. I purchased one in the chrome (or stainless, I can't remember right offhand) but when I brought it to work, I had it sold in less than 5 minutes!) *trying to convert all of my co-workers over to vaping instead of analogs, lol)

I am taking the plunge on the Leo because I can afford it and may like it. It goes against all my PV attitude, which is non proprietary batts and the ability to get atomizers anywhere...but I just couldn't resist trying it cause I have had bad luck with 510 atomizers of late. Only thing, if I like it, I worry about getting parts because so many that carried it initially are starting to drop it from inventory.

Hmmmm. This is interesting. Who has dropped it? On the other hand I hear they have improved it by introducing a passthrough version and cartos are will be available soon. So boge is improving and supporting the product. Maybe they will eventually introduce some connectors for some compatibility????

All I know is the Leo was my first REAL e-cig and I have zero desire for an analog. Used to smoke 3 ppd.
It has done some real heavy lifting for me.

Eventually, it has become clear, I need a higher voltage PV so I can reduce nic level but maintain TH.

Just for the hell of it, when Katherine Heigl was on David Letterman about a month or two back, she was vaping the Leo and Dave seemed to enjoy it as well. If you want to have a quick look here's the LINK

Sorry, but that's not correct. She was using SmokeStik's Pitbull.

I have used The KR808D-1, Black Silver Bullet, Omega, JSB Diamond Vgo, Joye eGo, Smoore Xpower, Bauway 1300mAh Ego, Bauway 155D 3000mAh Mega Ego, Boge 510D, Kanger 1300mah Vgo, Bauway Spring, Boge Revolution and the Boge Leo.

Of them all, the Boge Leo takes the cake for vapor, flavor, TH and long lasting atomizers. Yeah, the 1300mAh types last longer (battery wise), but use 808/901 or 510 atomizers, which are all pretty much disposable. Most 510 atomizers no matter who made them die within a few weeks. I have my first Leo atomizer still going strong, 3 months later. Each of my other Leo atomizers are all still going strong.

Hi Caexars,

well i am soo new to all this but i just got my kit from this on-line company called Apollo e-Cigarette there prices are far and they had free shipping and there customer service was great they answered all my questions fast.

Rob
Oh please! The Apollo is a repackaged blu/Volcano – another overpriced, low mAh super-mini – having nothing to do with the subject at hand: high mAh fat batts.

Last Time i counted the native Atomizers there were: Joye306/Joye510/Joye510Mega/Joye eGo Big Types A and B all availlable as LR and sometimes Cisco Versions. Newest addition the eGo-T a Type A based TankoMizer without the need of a Cartfiller and very easy to refill without mess or serious leakage.

did i already mention at least 3 different main cartomizers?

dodge this, Leo :p

you can at least get starterkits with 510, eGo Big Type A and/or B or -T depending on suppliers stock.
Yep, the eGO and compatibles sure are flexible and dominant. Thus my recommendation for a new vaper. For me, however, that is all moot. Leo does "dodge this" by providing me a smoother, richer vaping experience. And, from other posts (in this thread and elsewhere), I am not alone in feeling this way.

BTW, from what I've been reading, the eGO-T (T for "Tank System" all-liquid cartridge, usable on any ego-type battery) has its problems. Totally Wicked is due to carry it starting next month (calling it the Tornado-T, of course), but I'm certainly not blown away by its vapor production.

No you are not alone, Don. We know the 510 has many types of LR, HV, Mega this mega that, sizes and shapes. But why? IMHO, the 510 atomizer just isn't enough for most people. Thus the need for all these modifications. Same with the 510 cartomizers. I know for a fact the standard 510 cartridge/atomizer combo is fairly dainty, in juice amount and its workings. Most 510 atomizers last 1-2 weeks before burning out or popping.

Unless you vape the Leo atomizer completely dry, I just don't see that happening. It is the Mac Truck of atomizers.

I guess I am going to be a real test for how the leo atty holds up. I am one of those users that the 510 atty's only last me a week to two weeks. I vape till the cart is dry and gets the empty taste and then refill. I use about 30ml's a week.

My first leo atty lasted me 7 days before it popped. I know you are going to say I run it too dry..but I vape till empty and maybe only one vape and then I can tell it is dry and then refill. I sure hope this 7 day atty life is not going to be the norm for me as the atty life is what drew me to the leo. So far atty life no better than ego atty (for me)

I just ordered a Leo this morning, and a 2-ego kit yesterday. I'll be very curious to see how it all holds up/performs compared to my Vgo that just died. I really didn't want to buy both, but I bought the ego first, and then saw all the stuff on the Leo, and it just looked too tempting. Higher voltage, unique look, doubles as a pass-through. I certainly hope that either your 7-day atty was a fluke, or you really do run things drier than I do. I've had atties that got replaced because they weren't hitting as well anymore, but I've had 510 attys on my vgo that went 3 weeks without being swapped out for a break and I've never actually popped an atty.

I have both - I'd suggest you go with an eGo - the Leo is cool, but not so versatile - more of a luxury... I enjoy my Leo,, but my eGo may be more of a staple... perhaps because I am more used to it.
I've had a leo for 2 whole days ;-)
providing me a smoother, richer vaping experience.

absolutely...

In any case, I do think the Leo is a quality e-cig...
