Having the ego/volcano/riva...if I had to pick for a first time vaper I would recommend the inferno still, the 1000mah and 650mah batt passthrough are really an excellent combination and the one year warranty is nice. Next would probably be the eGo...if you could get it at liberty flights prices and then the Riva....the riva button just bugs the hell out of me...its very small and very cheap feeling, I have never had one break but its just something that annoys me while using it, I much prefer the ego/inferno buttons.

I don't have a leo yet, but I probably will as I like the way people describe it and I am not a huge TH person as long as the vapor is thick and good.

Yep, the eGO and compatibles sure are flexible and dominant. Thus my recommendation for a new vaper. For me, however, that is all moot. Leo does "dodge this" by providing me a smoother, richer vaping experience. And, from other posts (in this thread and elsewhere), I am not alone in feeling this way.
eGo Big Type A and Leos Atomizers don't vary too much in smoothness

BTW, from what I've been reading, the eGO-T (T for "Tank System" all-liquid cartridge, usable on any ego-type battery) has its problems. Totally Wicked is due to carry it starting next month (calling it the Tornado-T, of course), but I'm certainly not blown away by its vapor production.

well, now this is funny. now there is a promo video without excessive lightning and liquid tricks and some really think the Atomizer performs subpar.
Wrong, its on the same level as the eGo Type A which is a wonderful ( too use one of your words) Atomizing Device.

not that i like mrwicked or his shop very much, but if he manages to deliver the atomizer and tanks for a reasonable price (unlike current european sellers) i may buy one or two. . .or wait a little longer for other non-Ovale resellers.

but, i still have the feeling that the T-System like Ovale presented it to us is flawed, not because of some faulty programmed batteries, its the spike with the very little hole that feeds the liquid to the coil. if this fibre filled tube gets gunked up, the atomizer is unusable. can the path be cleared easily? if yes, fine...if not, its a very expensive atomizer for customers and suppliers.

but thats something the near future will tell us, maybe the US is lucky that europe got to use (betatest) this tank first.
if it ends in a total desaster we will tell it here.

All of you guys are so helpful!

After long debate with myself, I have decided to go with the Boge Leo. I know I know, I changed my mind, but the Leo is just too shiny to pass up; the reviews for the Leo are also pretty amazing. I figure I'd take the plunge.

More questions:
How does an e-cigarette work, what extra components should I purchase, and what components are disposable? I want to keep my waste and maintenance costs to a minimum.
Which vendors has the most reliable service and best prices for this brand?

Parts II and III and the beginning of Part IV of my Wonderful World of Vaping Version 2 might help you get a handle on some of your questions, Caexars.

For an 800 mAh PV like the Leo, I'd recommend starting with one additional atomizer. You may not need an additional battery right away unless you are a very heavy vaper. More important is to order e-liquid. I suggest starting with samplers and/or small bottles in a variety of flavors from as many different suppliers as you can afford. I list some of these in this article and talk about some of the best e-liquid (China-made and US/UK-made) in this article. [You don't have to do it all at once.] At least 30 ml total to start.

My Leo review lists/links to most of the suppliers. Since it was written, Clouds of Vapor has dropped out and VaporFlow has dropped in. All are good suppliers providing reliable service.

Who has the best price on the Leo has bounced around. Two days ago, LiteCigUSA was lowest at $40, but is back up to $50 with the rest of the pack. [A little birdie told me that Boge has threatened to cut off any supplier who sells the Leo for less than $50.] LiteCigUSA still has great prices on Leo attys and batts (matched by MadVapes on the attys).

Sonhomme, there is no right or wrong to the eGO/Leo (or any other model) preference issue. Kelemvor and I are examples of strong enthusiasts for one or the other. Certainly Liberty-Flights' great deals on the base models (650/750 mAh) of the eGO and Riva are tough to resist. And don't forget the "ecf" coupon code!

I'm not sure if any supplier has a particularly good deal on the higher mAh eGO. I'm impressed by BreezEsmokes' $48 Riva 1100. And, if you are willing to take a risk with a little-known brand, the $40 KGO 1100 is a great deal.

Personal preferences about performance aside, that Leo is super sexy looking compared to just about everything else, IMHO.
I almost purchased one based on looks alone.
Then I came to my senses and went with the Liberty Flight's Riva to see if I'd even like a bigger sized model than one I use currently.

But the Leo is mighty seductive looking. ;)

What do model do you currently use? A super-mini? The Riva (750 mAh version sold by L-F) is small (at least in length): same size as the eGO and my Elegant. You should see that teeny Elegant next to my Leo.

I'm starting to wonder whether people really appreciate how large the Leo is. Someone here thought that was what Katherine Heigl was vaping on Letterman! Katherine's SmokeStik is a mini, almost as slender and short as a 100s analog cigarette. This, my friends, is the Leo:

I may change my mind once mine arrives, but I think ditching the "jewels" for simple polished metal caps would really improve the look.

I would agree. I find the "jewels" to be gaudy. I was planning on just leaving the one over the USB port off. If you source some polished metal caps, please share.

I will definitely look for other options once mine arrives and I can see how it's put together. I actually have some old tortoise shell that might work without being quite so bedazling. (Don't worry, it's ANCIENT tortoise shell from an antique straight razor)

I use a RN4081 which is less than 4 1/4" long assembled and the same diameter as a regular cigarette.
Quite a bit smaller than a Leo, from what I can tell.

Still, Leo is a hot looking piece. I may still get one.

ETA: Thanks for all of your posts. :) I feel like I've been cyber stalking you as often as I look specifically for your posts and threads.

So the idea being to pop out the crystal and put something else more tasteful in its place. BTW, that tortoise shell is worth a lot in certain respects. I remember paying a lot for a real tortiose shell guitar pick.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I've got some tortoise shell, horn in a couple different shades, black celluloid, all sorts of stuff. (all from antique straight razors I've restored)

Plus, I suspect I could find some wood buttons for capping screw-holes and just stain&seal them. It all depends on how the buttons are attached, but I can't imagine it would be that tough to replace them.

On a side note, my fiance thinks it's hilarious that there exists a guy who is such a geek that 3/4 of his library is paperless, has more computers than suits, and uses an electronic cigarette, yet still shaves with antique straight razors.
