I'm really late to the party (this thread), LOL. As to the OP's original question: No contest for me, the eGo-type. Doesn't have to be Joye, could be a Tornado or any number of rebranded/clones. One look at the LEO was all it took. I don't care if they sell them for $5 apiece, no thank you. But, that's just ME. Clearly, the OP doesn't have the same gut reaction.

I know we're talking about personal preferences here, but why the negative reaction to your leo? I'm just curious, since I'm still waiting for mine to show up.

You misunderstood one thing. I don't own one, have never considered one. I still use the KR808D-1 sometimes. But, my primary criticism of that PV is the LED tip. The LEO's extra large rhinestone highlighted LED is an absolute deal breaker for me. Again, this is just my opinion. But, I can't help it.

The eGo-type, on the other hand is completely free of end tip LED, a huge PLUS in my way of thinking.

I did misunderstand you, but it seems you also misunderstand the Leo.

The plastic jewel on the end of the Leo is absolutely not an LED, and doesn't light up in any way. It's purely decoration.

One of the first things I intend to do when I receive my Leo (should be tomorrow since it wasn't today) is remove the stupid plastic jewels and replace them with something more tasteful. I'll be sure to post a thread with pictures when I'm done, as I think it will seriously improve the look of the Leo.

I'm hoping that it's smooth metal underneath and they're just glued on. If that's the case, all I'll need is a little acetone or some other solvent to clean up the glue. Otherwise I'll have to make something else out of some other materials I have handy.

*Edit - I just wanted to add, if it was actually an LED, it would be a deal breaker for me too. They're detract from the overall look enough as it is. If those jewels lit up, it would look like I was vaping a flashlight.

Well, I stand corrected about the LED. Still, not something I would want to be seen with. I can understand why you would want to improve it upon delivery. I would just buy something I wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen with, out of the box. :) Different strokes. I don't recall ever saying anything critical of the LEO before ... but, since the topic was tossed up I figured I'd offer my take on it. JMHO.

To give perspective - From left to right: Boge Leo (note battery end jewel cap off so I could stand it up), 650mah eGo w/ standard 510 and drip tip, Super-T P10 with reg E2 R4 carto and short drip tip (just noticed it isn't in all the way!), and the Super-T P-18 w/ same carto on it.

I agree with the NCC (you a Chief by chance?), I don't like the jewel either. In fact I leave mine off usually. The thing is rather large in comparison. I remember seeing the Mega eGos and was like no way!!! But the battery sits nicely in the hand with my pinky covering the batt end and the atomizer exposed when vaping. It's all opinion, but I believe the flavor and vapor from the atomizer is hands down better then the 510. Realize please I have never tried a mega huge 510 eGo atty or cart (only because they don't fit my mods).

As far as looks...who needs to be so serious all the time? LOL.
Hmmm. I'm equally puzzled when people speak of mods such as my Precise 18650. I think it looks GREAT! Other people feel they would be uncomfortable with anything like it. Again, different strokes, different tastes and interests.

Thank you! That's exactly what I was looking for. I realize it's not that important since I just got my ego today and should get my Leo tomorrow, but I was dieing to see a good side-by-side. Besides, it may be really helpful to others.

It looks like it's actually longer than my old Vgo 900mah was, which I'm okay with. I'm really 99% sure that I'll be able to find a good way to remove and replace the jewels, and that will help a lot.

Well with a brand new eGo kit and a brand new Leo kit, you tell me your opinion on the difference in taste after a little break in between the 510 and the Leo atty. It took me about 5 drags on the Leo atty to wake it up, after that I was very happy with it. Now to be honest, I am not a cartridge fan, as you can see drip tips in my photos, but the cartridge is doing really well if I set the Leo up on end as pictured. I may not go out and purchase $200 of Leo gear, but I am not planning on gifting this one out either. I am gonne use it to see what kind of life I get with the atomizer. I have been discusted of late with 510 atomizers and their short lives, hence why I have been using R4 cartomizers a lot lately. Those things just keep trucking.

You can be sure I'll share my opinion as soon as I've tried both. I've been using one of the egos all day, so that atty is starting to break in, and in terms of flavor, there's almost no different between it and the Revolver Vgo I was using previously. I'll let you all know how I think the Leo stacks up in a few days.

I can't wait to see your Ego vs Leo. I was all set on getting the Riva but then I saw the Leo. Omg it looks awesome. Ok, what I like about the Leo is the looks, I love the jeweled bottom, and the fact it has the mini USB right on the bottom. BUT it is a lot bigger than the eGo/Riva so now I'm torn! Urg! Guess it's back to reading reviews and watching videos! ;)

LMAO. Do you use that thing in public?! ;) I feel dumb using my KR808D-1 in public, the Leo can't be much worse right? At least it's pretty. ;)

Well hell...I go out in public. I really don't care what people think of me or my personal business....LOL

Keep on vaping (proud!)

LED = dealbreaker for me. Most suppliers seem to be out of the woodgrain Leo so I'm waiting for them to restock. In the meantime, I'm really intent on just getting an eGo just because they're more readily available.

The craft nerd in me really wants to pick off the plastic rhinestone and do a bubble resin of a raptor in its place.

Yea, but do you drive a 65 VW beetle? I owned a 66, 70, and 71 through my years... and the 66 was a VeeDub! Lowered, with Porsche rims, big engine, weber carbs, nicely redone interior... I ummm... sold it for a minivan.

You WHAT?! :'( Do you at least have pretty pretty pictures to share with the class?
