Was going to get a couple batteries in black, but I would like to know how durable the black paint is? will it chip off easily or will it not chip off at all?
I might have the batteries in the same pocket as my keys, so I need a paint that is atleast some what durable.

I got some Xpower batteries in black and the paint chipped off in less then 2 weeks.. so if I was to get a battery that the paint was just going to chip off, I will just get the stainless steel version instead.

No problems at all with the paint chipping off of my Ego or Riva batteries.

Now the cones.....different story. They all started peeling or chipping after about 6 months. Fortunately, I had some flat black paint in the cabinet. Roughed up the surface a little bit and repainted them. Look good as new now.

I have to add, I never put the Egos in my pocket with my keys. I can see that being a problem with scratching the paint. So, yeah, stainless would be the way to go.

Well I have a stainless setup now and kinda getting tired of looking at it, so wanting a new look. The paint on my Xpower was very thin, kinda reminds me of cheap fish flake food when it chipped off..
From what everyone is saying so far, it does sound alot more durable then what I had, and I love the rubberized finish look.

Hi, let me tell you about my experience with the 6 black eGo batteries I have: they all become stainless steel and it is not easy to clean the paint from them and not nice to look at them now, they're all scratched and ugly. After this experience (and switching to GG) I believe that bare steel is the best material so far. Easy to clean: tissue with alcohol on one end and dry it with the other end of the tissue. Due to the juice eventually getting out of the atomizer, the rubberized finish will become more rubbery and sticky to the touch. Although black is very nice steel is more practical. Furthermore, the ego-T atomizer I have in stainless was cooling a bit faster than the painted one (no measurements here to support my claim though). Finally, you never know the source of the device (unless is a well known mod) and I can say that 2 (out of 6) batteries held more to juice than the others and I had them all in a rotation schedule. Good luck with your purchase.

My ego/rivas that are about a year old have the paint chipping off. The ones I got about 6 months ago are just starting to chip now. If you keep them in your pockets with change and keys (like I do) they will eventually start chipping away. By the time they really start to chip, they seem to die on me anyways... But, that being said, the paint is a lot more durable than regular 510's that chip almost immediately.
