I bought a eGo kit that came with 2 joyetech batteries, but the charger was a knockoff. A week later the charger broke so I bought an actual Joyetech model. Now it seems that my batteries are dying way quicker. I should add that around the time I started using the new charger I modded my tanks with SS mesh wicks. I can't imagine it's the new charger so that leaves the new coils as the culprit. Any thoughts?

Yup, I also think it's due to the modding. Check the resistance of the coil/wicks you are making and the original ones. If they come in at below about 1.5 ohms, your batts will not like them and might actually be shutting down with charge left in them. If they are above 1.5 but lower than the resistance of the original setup, the batts might just be being used up much faster.

Thanks Ryedan, I knew it couldn't be the new charger. Problem is, I don't have an apv or anything else that shows things like resistance. I'm on my way to getting one very soon though.

I agree with Switched ^^^. If you are going to be moding stuff, re-wicking and/or making coils, a digital multi meter will be invaluable. They are cheap and accurate. I think I got mine off eBay for about $20. This will also allow you to check battery voltage, which you may end up wanting to do sooner than you may think right now.

Also
The 510 contact area will heat up a bit more if they are dirty
and your losing a lot of battery juice to that resistance area
my 1100mah twist last the same as it did since the day purchased
with a diy 1.5Ω coil ss mesh.

But when my contacts are dirty it does not I get 8-10 hours instead of normal 11 sometimes 12 hours..
stable voltage is needed and keeping it clean will give ya best results
this may not be your issue, its just a reminder to clean your contacts daily
or every other day, its amazing how fast they get dirty
