Just read on the chimney interesting couldn't you spin the base of the deck by rotating the screw that holds it all together? It should be adjustable from there I'll take the bottom apart and try maybe on the ones where two holes are blocked by the chimney benefit somehow from having the air screw out

Right now my chimney has two holes next to the deck completely on the side

If the deck was 9 and three and the widest parts were 12 and 6 that's exactly where my holes are

So I have two air holes that basically feed the side of the deck

That also explains why some people find a loose draw and some a tight one

Who makes the egrip by the way I thought it was eleaf but I was wrong

Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk

The screw just holds the smallest post in. The other post seems to be fixed

I just went the other way. Really small wick and I swapped chimneys for the other broken rba one which has three holes in a reasonable are. The holes on this one are not at right angles. One is off. Anyway between short wick the normal way and the new chimney base it does seem to be doing better

So another theory is don't cover the holes with cotton deliberately. It settles where it needs with a few draws and seats properly with a (by most standards) very short wick

Ah right. Duh

Below--- just realized when I checked.

I'm definitely giving some thought to whether it's the holes or wicking method. I think the holes don't matter that much if you go very small with the cotton. Like take off 2/3 the non coil covered cotton on the stock coils. It looked flat out stumpy when I wicked but seems to be working better. It's such a small wick. Guess it goes with the small deck

Yes, small and fluffy seems to be the key. Too much wick and it clogs up and gurgles for me.

I've only had the one problem with anything leaking after putting the rba base on. My chimney is like yours and two of the holes are behind the post/screws. Other than checking all the seals I just cut a longer wick then what was premade and have had no problems since. Other than that just make sure everything is tightened up. Cap chimney and the base in the egrip. After I pull the wick up and fit the chimney on I took a safety pin and kinda combed through the ends of the wick fluffing it up a little rather then just having a clump. I dunno its working for me though.

Also after cutting a strip of cotton in the width you want peel that piece apart in about half or less so its not so thick. Again just something that is working for me.

Using ... cotton pads like kgd I remove the crusty outer layers from both sides and just use the fluffy stuff inside. The crusty outer layers don't wick all that well and alter the uniformity of the wicking if left on.

Of course you can always use cotton bacon. I get mine from this guy.

Is the wire that came with the rba base just to referred to as 28 guage or 28 kanthal? I'm just looking at a site that shows how many times you go around a drill bit or screwdriver. All I really have as of now will be the blue screwdriver that came with it to wrap coils, if I were to go buy extra wire what kind do you guys recommend. My 510 adapter hasn't came in the mail yet but I just wanna know what stuff I'll need in the future. Also any chance the size wire I get will be compatible with building coils for the mini subtank that I also ordered? My drill bit set I have has markings on the big bits but the smalls don't say what size bits they are. I imagine I would want to stay within 1.2 - 1.5 ohms on both setups.

FWIW...I have temporarily set aside the RBA. I am a bit frustrated with the small leak that comes out of the air hole in spite of all kinds of builds. That said, I will return to it at some point.

However, I am having good luck with the stock heads. But, in order to not get dry hits, I have removed one layer of the cotton wrap. There are two thin wraps of cotton surrounding the coil. Simply remove the head, remove one wrap of cotton and put the cap back on with just one layer. So far...all is great - no leaks, no dry hits!

How do ya do that?

Nevermind, just watched the video from above post and see how tobtake stock coil apart!

I'm still waiting on my 510 adapter to come in the mail. Its been 5 days already. Hope fully then I can start tinkering with the coil to get it to calm its popping at the beginning. Still vaping like a champ day after day on this prebuilt coil that came in the rba.

Yeah, I've got that pop too. I rewicked but it didn't help. I'm not that worried about it though. I'm over a month in on the original coil. Can't complain.

Reads 1.3 ohm. I'm not even gonna mess with it. Vaping good.

Good idea... I had the best vape going and I got anxious wanting to fiddle and it took me 2 days and a million questions to get back to that flavorful vape :-/ Seems like I am learning a few things. However, I usually only score 2 out of 3 things when I want to rewick or clean my coils. Like: no leak and flavor but low vapor production or great vapor, no leak but no flavor... or flavor, vapor and a horrible gurgle... I hope to eventually get all goid things at once. Great airflow, lots of flavor, lots of vapor and no leaks or gurgles... I know it's possible but it is a fine line... lol

Maybe all those, except the gurgle after heavier vaping sessions or laying the device on its side. Earlier in the thread many discovered the collection of liquid under the drip tip; on the very top of the airtube. That one I don't think we can do much about except placing some cotton between those two parts to absorb the condensate. Laying the device on its side prevents the condensate from running back down into the atty; gurgle. Even if it does run back down it can flood the atty a bit; gurgle.

So what to do? When the gurgling bugs me I just fling it out through the drip tip with a quick downward motion; "thermometer flick" into a napkin, my jeans, on my arm or wherever. I'm a guy, so I really don't care where it flings too...lol. My wife? Different story there.

All things tried and true, wick it heavier. All of my RTAs seem to like that. Keep it fluffy and cover all the juice holes that are accessible.

So far, more wick is definetly helping in all areas.. it's no wonder each of my issues was getting worse with each try as I was using less wick each time... I am so glad I spoke up about my problem, I might have given up... And, the flick it down is the best way I've dound for the inevitable gurgle... :) I also figured out my wick was covering the top of the coil after it got totally saturated... all along I thought I was choking the holes by covering them too much....

Yeah, the four holes in the chimney are just for juice to flow out of tank and for air to enter the tank forming the bubbles you see rising after each vape.

Someone incorrectly posted earlier about restricting the draw by covering the chimney holes; I should have said something then to stave off confusion.

I rewicked after probably a little over a week of using the rba and dry fired the coil. Didn't seem it even needed it but I was bored and wow brings new life to it. Not really sure why though. Japanese Cotton was still pretty well clean some small gunky spots by the coil. How long do you guys go before changing the wick? I only use 40vg/60pg. High VG makes me feel weird.
