Heyo,

Big, big fan of vaping, and an equally big fan of IPAs. Was wondering if any other hopheads out there have certain pairs that they enjoy together, or that tend to 'go together' (a la wine and cheese).

Since my current stockpile has dwindled down to 100mL of Boba's for the time being, I have found that Bell's Two Hearted Ale goes great with it; then again, that beer is just incredible.

Anyone have any juices that just 'go' with IPAs? I'm sure RY4s or 555s are great, just like any tobacco-base would, but I wanna hear your favorite and most interesting.

I'll second the awesomeness of Bell's Two Hearted! Showing some Michigan beer love Whut Whut! However, tonight I was enjoying one of my last cans of The Alchemist's "Heady Topper" that my wife smuggled back on the plane from a recent trip to Vermont. This is likely the greatest IPA I've ever had, and dare I say the greatest on earth! (Yes, I have had the fabled Pliney the Elder as well) Very, very hop forward while remaining light and ridiculously smooth and almost creamy without a trace of bitterness.

My go to juices for pairing with IPAs are "Patriot" by Good e Juice, and "Sahara Blend" by Ahlusion. Both are tobaccos that have a certain dry characteristic that compliments the extra hops in an IPA really well.

Thanks for the reply Dustmight; I'm hoping this thread will eventually develop some breadth to it.

I still haven't had a Heady Topper (nor the Elder, nor the Younger), and if you were to check out Beer Advocate's top 100 IPAs, I've probably only had 20-25 of them total. I need to start a checklist!

I am also compiling an e-juice list in the occurrence of an FDA meltdown resulting in the ban of online sales. Putting Patriot and Sahara Blend both on that list. Keep vaping my friend :D

Would be nice to find a nice grapefruit. It would seem to match well to me. Even though I am more of a malt-head (love me some Belgian tripels and quads), I don't mind downing the occasional Dogfishhead 120.

The new Five Pawns line that comes out next week includes a grapefruit based juice. I think it's called Sixty-Four.

The 120 minute IPA tends to be a little sweet for my taste depending on the batch. Some years it's hoppier than others. Try a Black and Tan using Dogfish Head's 120 minute IPA and their Worldwide Stout.

i need to find some of their Fort raspberry ale. It's just as strong as the 120 but comes in 750ml bottles.

Beer Advocate rates Heady Topper 100/100, a world class beer and for good reason. I also really enjoy several varieties from Founders Brewery in Michigan but I just can't seem to get my hands on any Kentucky Breakfast Stout (or the legendary Canadian Breakfast Stout).

I'll have to try a citrus juice with my IPA's.

man o man have you hit on one of my favorite topics. so much to discuss. :toast:

IPA has got to be my favorite style. followed closely by sour ales.
ive tried lots of different vapes with my IPAs. the best ones IMO are fruits- citrus in particular.
i gravitate toward Mt Baker's Raspberry Lemonade, Jiucy Vaopr's Ecto Plasma, Citrus Punch from Quick Nic, and One on One's (DIY) Rainbow Sherbet.
Mt Baker's Spring Break and various Mtn Dew vapes also go smashingly with big IPAs.

i prefer very fresh, explosive hop flavor IPAs. i stress freshness because as we all (as hopheads) know, once your IPA is exposed to oxidation (be it through poor storage or just flat-out old brew [3+ months old]), the hop flavor greatly diminishes and the character of the brew suffers immensely. this is a big reason why ive gravitated toward sours, but thats another story. if my IPA is nice n fresh, i find the citrus vapes compliment it well. if the brew has become aged, i find it becomes sweeter, stickier, and not floral or piney like it should be. at this point, i go for a completely different vape, like an RY4 or a bakery vape. basically i aim for something id normally vape with my brown ales, alt beers, or siasons.

anyway, i have to 100% echo the sentiments about Heady Topper. The Alchemist is a genius outfit. one of the best IPAs ive ever had, and ive tried them all :D . exaggeration of course, but i seriously feel like ive tried more IPAs that any one person should. some brews that havent yet been mentioned that im sure you guys love too, that go amazingly well with my citrus vapes:

Oskar Blues: Gubna, GNight (formerly Gordon)
Lagunitas: Hop Stoopid, Sumthin' Somethin', Lagunitas Sucks
New England: Ghandi Bot
Founders: All Day
Dogfish Head: 90 minute (my favorite out of the 60, 90 and 120)

there is a grapefruit/Fresca style ejucie that i ran across the other day. it was on vapor joes and smokie901 reviewed it.
its called Full Hallow by MAP (Most Angry Pirate). i havent tried it yet, but i fully expect it to rock socks off.

Three Forged eLiquids Reviewed made by The Legend Most Angry Pirate - YouTube

also, i will try to find the vape pairing thread that was made a while back. some good really stuff in there.

I love stouts and porters too. With those I like coffee vapes. J-Vapes Cinillia Coffee is my go to.

for sweeter and/or more robust malt-forward brewing styles, i dive straight for Nite Lite Vapor. IMO it doesnt get any better than a stout with Bounty Hunter, a porter with Line Rider, or practically any malty brew (preferably the more basic ones) with Gold. Gold might just be the most enticing flavor a vape has ever embodied. very mind-blowing vape. STL Gooey Butter Cake from Vapealicious is also another great vape for robust stouts and porters. its even better with tripels and quads.

Three 90 minute IPAs will turn the most alcohol tolerant person into a completely unfunctioning, mumbling, drooling mess. I limit myself to two and only if sacked out on the sofa with no plans for the night.

When i do, i like something with a little bite, and on the dryer side since 90 minute is so ridiculously smooth and flavorful going down. Ahlusions Cherry Wood high PG fits that bill for me.

i really like the reserve flavors with IPAs, specifically the castle long reserve from five pawns, or the clone from thesteamco.

i don't get into fruity vapes. If i had a citrus taste in my IPAs I'd freak out a bit

what type of IPAs do you like?
what do the reserve eliquids taste like?
