Juice Problem - throat hit

My local shop has been mixing my "recipe" for a few weeks. We have been tweaking the flavor and finally gotten a perfect, delicious result. This last Saturday they mixed up another bottle but there is a problem. I actually had them cut down the nicotine from 18mg to 6mg (or maybe it was 8mg).

In my clearomizer, I had about 1/3 left of the previous batch and topped it off with the new batch. Normally I have been letting it steep for about a week, but this was all I had of this particular flavor so I topped off. The new stuff is supposed to be lower nicotine. I also put straight "new" juice into a new clearomizer to see if mixing old with new was the problem.

The problem: The new stuff throat hits so hard it is actually painful, and there is less of a cloud or vapor it seems. The old batch I could toke on all day and the flavor was great and very slight throat hit. I'll add another note that I have some old stuff in a K101 (straight battery mod) that hits extremely pleasant. The new stuff I put on my VV 3.0 and cranked the watts and volts as low as possible and I nearly choke and burn my throat with how hard the juice hits.

When the old batches were mixed, they dripped the flavorings in, then added a premixed pg/vg with nicotine already in it. The new batch, which was supposed to be less nicotine, she put nicotine out of a bottle and added the pg/vg separately. My initial feeling is possibly the nicotine is too high.

Question: What would be the most likely issue with the new juice? I know there are alot of factors here and could be any combination of things, just looking for ideas on what might be the most likely problem.

Thanks alot for any help!

What was the ratio of PG/VG in the nicotine premix from the previous order? Maybe she added more PG because that along with nicotine carry the majority of the throat hit. So it's either the nicotine or the PG that is the difference I would imagine.

I honestly don't know what ration it is or was. In the new batch, she added nicotine and the added the pg/vg. I'm going down there in a couple hours and maybe they will have some insight.

Rule of thumb is PG = throat hit and VG = vapor production. There is a whole lot more to it - much of which I don't yet undrestand but that's the 50,000 foot view. Talking to people at my local vape store and cruising the forums, the 'default' mix is usually 70/30 (PG/VG - pg always comes first) - so if you don't specify, that's what you get. Find out what they used and if you want less throat hit, adjust as needed.

Hi beano52, the exact thing happened to me in my dripper. Tons of throat hit w/ little or no vapor. I found out that my coil was not lined up with the airhole. I can't advice on clearomizers as I haven't used one but nevertheless you might want to take a look at your coil... or try your juice in another setup. If it's still the same then I would say it's gotta be the nic. or something just went wrong with that batch.
