Well, got my 510 one week ago. Novelty is wearing off and so is the good taste. Have times of very odd metallic or plasticy taste.... Well going to try some other flavorful (I hope) juices before I give up. Saw a sample pack at Besteciggy.....but also read on some forum that the 3ml samples are very weak on flavor.... True? False?

The same thing happened to me. I ended up soaking my attys in vodka for an hour, then letting them air dry. You'll see a lot of brownish gunk in the bottom of the container you soak them in. Some people say never soak your attys, but that taste was killing it for me. I thought I would rather shorten the life of the atty and keep good taste.
I also changed out the filling of my cartridges with Lipton pyramid tea bag material. There are several threads on how to do this.
Anyhow, that solved my yucky burned plastic taste. Also, I just got some juice from Totally Wicked that tastes fantastic!! I love menthol and I am loving this juice!

I got two samplers from Besteciggy. I only use 0 nic liquids so it's possible this accounts for my experience but I found the flavors to me much more intense than those I've gotten from most other sources. I especially liked the Kent and Cigar.
I don't know what strength you are using but the flavors that Nhaler has in the High Voltage line is wonderful. It is designed to burn better with manual units like the 510 and high voltage mods. There are alot of flavors to choose from. By the way, the HV liquid is 12mg but he also has 24mg that I use also and it is very good too.

Not sure about the atty, it still had the same taste with a new one. Might be the carts, don't know. I have used the teabag trick. Can't remember if I got that taste or not.
I got the menthol flavor from www.totallywicked-eliquid.com. I got 18mg and also the 36mg for first thing in the morning. The taste is great and it comes in a cool looking glass dropper. They also sent me small plastic droppers, for carrying around I suppose. I also ordered spearmint, but I haven't tried that one yet. I may try that one tonight.
It could be that the plastic taste you are having trouble with is from stray bits of the polyester stuffing in the cart getting burned onto the atomizer. You might try examining the atomizer bridge (the arched metal structure) with a magnifying glass to see if there are little bits of that stuff attached to it, and if there are, removing them carefully with tweezers. Using lipton teabags , instead of the stock stuffing, seems to cause less trouble and is quite popular. Myself, I use rolled up coffee filters which seem to work very well, too.
That taste you are getting is due to a dry atomizer. You will find that if you drop two drops directly on the atty and top off your cart you will notice it go away. I dropped the filler material out of the picture months ago and drip only now. It is a little more of a pain but the taste is much better in the long run.

I have ordered samples before and I don't think they are lacking in flavor at all. However, my advice to you is try a lot of different flavors and don't rely on what others here say about flavors. What one of us considers to be a great flavor can be nasty to another. Eventually you will find a flavor or flavors that you really like, so try a lot.
This is the best advice you can get... I tried many many different flavors before I decided on one that I could vape all day. I would have never thought that Peanut Butter Cup would have been a good one for all day.. but it is... lol
Then there is the RY4 too ... but you may hate both of those... never know till you try..

I think I'll try a 10 pack of 3ml samples from the besteciggy place... I should hit on something I like! The samples there are the best price per ml I have seen. The filler on the addy sounds logical for that nasty taste... Isn't there today, maybe it burnt off.
