Just a few questions.

First question:
I ran a dual wick in my aga t2. I only had one air hole and the vapor production seemed to match that of a single wick set up. Should I bore another hole? If not, how did you guys position it to have it create more vapor? I already have my air hole bored out.
Second question:
I attempted a U wick set up with a 3/2 wrapped of 30g kanthal and it just kept heating up way too quickly. Any advice on what how to set it up? I always seem to get the "hot leg" on the top running to the positive post.
Third question:
Specifically to the aga users, what was the lowest ohm rating you were able to build that was usable? The lowest for me was around .9 on a dual wick/coil set up with 4/3 wraps of 30g kanthal.

Thank you everyone!

I'm in the habit of running a single wikicoil in the AGA. 26g wire @ .6 ohms. This requires very good wicking, or just skipping the whole wicking business altogether.

I played with dual coil u-wicks too, but didn't drill my cap over it. I'm glad I didn't, because in the end I found that I greatly preferred single wicks.

How many wrap did you do? .6 ohms on a single wick is legendary haha but i guess on a thick wire such as 26g, it seems normal. I just bought 100 ft. of 30g kanthal so im kinda stuck with 30g haha.

its funny that you mentioned the U wick and how you didnt like it. it seems to be all the rage around my area but its a PITA to set up correctly. im gonna try to set up a dual wick again because it gave me a nice amount of vapor and it kicked my throat when i hit it.

im running at around 1.9 ohms but it lights up like a .6

ahhh so i tried something today. i ran back to a dual coil/wick set up but my multimeter says im running at 1.6 ohms. i tested a single coil and it ran the same. wth is going on???? im doing 4/3 wraps on my mesh and its with 30g kanthal. i highly doubt my multimeter's broken because its brand new. i tested the dual coils both with 4/3 wraps and another trial of 3/2 wraps and it both ran to 1.6/1.5 ohms. any help on how to get it lower than 1.0 ohms? also, one coil is liting up faster than the other. is that normal?

On dual coil, the wires have to be pretty much exactly the same length. If not, the current will favor the shorter wire (lower resistance). That's why, I imagine, one of your coils is lighting up faster. Although I don't have direct experience with your resistance question; I'm going to guess that your meter is doing (invisibly) what the current is doing when you fire your coils. It's basically just reading the side/wire that lights up first.

You could accomplish similar throat hit with a single coil by moving your air hole off the wick by a few degrees.

The reason I ended up preferring the single coil is because I could accomplish clouds, TH, and quick response time better. dual coils take longer to heat up. So with a good single wikicoil, you can have it all, and complete control over air hole placement and TH.

I use 5 wraps of 26g. The coil is wrapped in a tight stack. This speeds up response time and kicks better, because the wraps heat each other. (you could get 25ft of 26g at Resistance Wire for $5 shipped). Even a 4 wrap of 28g will net you about .7Ω.

Here's some of my SLRs

This DC u-wick was SLOW

BTW you could try a dual coil wrapped in parallel down one wick with your 30g. You'll need alot of mesh to feed it.

I just bought 100 ft. of 30g kanthal from temcoindustry for 7 bucks :D shipped to me,
Can you also clarify what you mean by the set up you mentioned above? i still have about a 5x5 sheet of mesh so im guessing itll be enough lol
