Ok, so I have an odd omission. I am not a smoker and never have been but I am completely intrigued by this vaping craze. I was introduced to it in Austin and loved it! I'm a high strung business professional with a type-A personality so I live in a stressed out state of mind. vaping makes feel relaxed and its easier than meditation for me, even though meditation is free (I get distracted too easily, LOL) I have come across a lot of negative opinions from friends and family about my interest in this because they think I have no valid reason to vape or that it will hurt my reputation in some way. Lately I have been keeping it to myself for this very reason. I fashion myself as somewhat of a health nut (I advise on Holistic health and nutrition as a hobby) and that has people baffled too. I have read the health info on this and I also know a few things myself about other cultures using Vapor to cure ailments. I am only interested in the flavors and not any additives so I feel I am fine................So I guess my question is: Am I weird? Is a woman in her 30's, who has luckily avoided a smoking addiction her entire life, crazy for getting into this? I haven't even purchased any of my own equipment yet because Im trying to wrap my head around this and Im trying to research as much as possible before I make the investment (haha, there is that Type-A personality for you)

You are free to do what you want. No one questions aromatherapy... what's the difference? Its the word "cigarette" that's hated. This is a reason I like "pv" or personal vaporizer. Stress kills too - so you need to relax and if this helps then people need to respect that. I've learned judgemental people limmit their own experiences more than the people they judge.

BTW, you might be interested in "Lung Juice" that has melotonin.

look, it all comes down to are you going to do what you want or are you going to care about someone else's image of you?

Vape if you want, don't if you don't, but I wouldn't live a life dictated by others either way

I would say go with the zero nic. There's no point in developing an nicotine habit if you don't have one already.

Certainly, a non-smoker taking up vaping would be in the minority. You don't mention in your post whether you are considering nicotine or no nic e-liquid. It does sound like you may be the kind of person who would enjoy the effects of nicotine, but I cannot recommend it to someone who has so far avoided the habit.

As for the vapor itself, there still is no indication that it causes any harm, so I can't see why deciding to pick up the hobby would be such a bad thing. Sure, it would be better to avoid anything that could potentially harm you, but where do you stop with that?

My GF vapes, but never smoked. She uses no nicotine or very low (3mg) nic. She doesn't carry stuff around with her either - she uses it at home or on trips, and only minimally. If you plan to handle it the same way, I would say no problem, but I wouldn't start an addiction if you don't have it already. My two cents. :)
PS. Welcome!

I am definitely doing NON nicotine... And I already practice aromatherapy within my Holistic practices and it isn't the same. I cant explain it but there is something about the actual practice of vaping that relaxes me. Maybe its just that my mind is on something else, who knows. I have tried other things to redirect my mind with minimal success....

Yep, there's a lot to be said for the ritual. Maybe it's the taking of deep breaths. But even when I smoked, the ritual always seemed more important than the nicotine or the flavor.

You mentioned you were introduced to it. Do you know exactly what you were introduced to? My point is i am hoping you were not introduced to something with nicotine in it that made you feel this relaxed? Which is now making you crave that nic. It's just the way you were explaining it kind of sounded like a smoker who feels that relaxing feeling after having a cigarette after a meal or something lol.
All jokes aside if you were introduced to something with nicotine in it without your knowledge that is just wrong.

Maybe you can do a bit more research into what you were exactly introduced to first.

Wow this is freaky! I was literally thinking about this seconds before i read this post.
If i had never smoked, would i want to vape? Im a huge gadget freak, and i also have to try out anything new. New chocolate bar out? Im off to get one. Stick a new sticker on a pile of rocks and I'll buy one.
why the heck not? Seems like theres loads of flavours out there, go on.
Just get zero nic, seems stupid developing a nic habit when you could get the same benifits and enjoyment without doing so.

Also realize that if you are truly concerned about what is in the juices you will vape getting into DIY juices takes some research but really is not difficult. Since you will not be dealing with nic the dangerous part of DIY is removed from the start. If you make the juice yourself you know what is in it.

My initial reaction would be to say if you don't smoke, don't vape. But hey... you are a grown woman so if you really want to do it, nothing any of us can say will change that. Vaping became a "craze" as you call it because it is a way for cigarette smokers (and some dippers) get their nic fix without the many dangers of inhaling or chewing tobacco. For me, if I could get to 0 nic, I would probably quit vaping.

However, it does bring up an interesting question in my mind. How long could someone, who has never used nicotine, vape before his/her curiosity got the better of them? Could someone vape on a regular basis and NEVER have the desire to add a little "nic kick"? Then what?

I don't see a lot of difference between what you are suggesting and using the hookah. For me, I wouldn't consider the hookah, but I would never leave home without my nic juice, and double/double backups of everything. Since you are mainly talking to people here who are all highly addictive (yes, I'm sure there are some exceptions), I'm not sure we're the right group to answer your questions. Then again, maybe we are....I don't do a lot of things myself because I know I'll become addicted....like little games on my smartphone, I live in Vegas, so I don't gamble, I don't play video games, etc. Vaping both adds to and takes away from life. I hope you work this out, because the folks here are my kinda peeps, and may be yours as well. Welcome to ECF, congrats on getting here, good luck and vape on!

Welcome to the forums! You're not alone, I got into vaping the same way you did... like others have said, just do what makes you happy and try to stick to 0 nic. It's a relaxing habit and it's fun to try out all sorts of different flavors!

Since you asked about equipment, I'd recommend starting small at first. Fasttech has a great eGo bundle deal going on right now, and you can find similar kits at domestic suppliers, or you could ask one of your vaper friends for their recommendations. Just a small initial investment so you can try things out on your own, and see whether you want to get into the more complicated equipment later.
