I have GG Grant and GG Trans. I use both and am a 6v CR2 user 95+% of the time. I have say I use the GG Grant more in this configuration. It's smaller, so easier to carry out and about and just so well balanced. So why do I still end up using both? I ocasionaly find my atty endcaps jam and then I have to immerse in hot water to release them which can be a ten minute procedure. The Trans also unscrews midway so although jamming can occur in the end cap I can still change batteries. My preference is the hold on the Grant, however. Have to say I would like a 6v pass-thru device since battery charging /juggling is a pain which could be minimised if battery use was left only for outdoor use.

I never quite understood why so many people wanted a passthrough option when the battery life is so good with whatever options you choose on the GG. However, I do understand that everyone has different needs and sometimes you're waiting for batts to charge or for whatever other reason.

If the people want it, Imeo will make it - he has always done this, hasn't he? :):)

If he does do a passthrough, it will be very interesting to see how he does it......

Are you putting your caps on really really tight if you keep getting this issue Vaugh?
Maybe you want to put a bit of lubricant (not that kind, naughty!) on the threads before putting the caps on your Grant?

Well, quite, all my problems started when I tried using Crisco on the threads :)

Don't think this is because of over tightening the caps. O.K. I will try an appropriate lubbie (it had crossed my mind). Thanks for the tip..

Vaug, try to clean the threads first. Take a wet soft paper and go inside every thread about 2-3 times. If this not work, try to sand the threads of the cap first with a 1000 sandpaper. If you see that it doesnt work as you want, then sand the internal tube threads too. The cap will fit for sure. And dont overtight any thread on GG, its useless and dangerous together.

Since current goes through the shell, it might make sense to use something like: <http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/1UYE2> or <http://www.mgchemicals.com/products/8463.html>

I'm sure there's enough surface area for proper conduction without it but you can never have too good a connection and hey, GG owners are perfectionists, aren't they?:)
