Hi,

It seems that whenever I type a vape question into Google that the search results always end up bringing me to ECF. Given this scenario I figured it was about time I signed up.

My wife and I have been vaping for 3 months after 30 years of smoking. We started out with several 1100 mah EGO sticks, but quickly graduated to a couple of VAMO 5s and a Tesla Sidewinder battery. We are also mixing our own e-liquid and rebuilding Protank 3 heads, regular & mini, with single coils(2.0 to 2.8 ohms) rather than the stock dual coil format. Sub ohm vaping is of no interest.

At this point our interest is in buying or building a variable voltage passthrough device.

Welcome Jeff (and wife!)

I'm with Joe - I have 3 MVPs. However, the rumor mill indicates that the MVP3 should be coming out around Christmas. I've heard decent comments on the iStick, but it appears to have some slight disgruntlement among a few of its users. Many folks, however, have multiples of the iSticks and swear by them.

The MVP is a box form - the iStick is supposed to be about 1/2 the MVP size (just a touch bigger than a bic lighter?) I see a bunch of folks who build mods with the DNA30 chipset. I personally haven't gone that route, nor have I thought about it. Don't know nuthin' 'bout it, but I thought I'd throw it out. When you get a few more posts in, you should be able to get into the modders threads. I think there's a whole world they discuss over there.

Good luck and happy vaping :vapor:

Thank ya'll for the welcome. I considered the MVP 2 and ended up going the Vamo v5 route. Im using the stainless steel version and my wife uses an aluminum version. I like the firmware on mine really well, however the firmware on my wife's is different in that it doesn't show the battery charge bar. Mine was from a U.S. seller and hers was purchased from FT and apparently was made by a different company.

I'm not ready to build yet, so I ordered a Sigelei V8 as a back up. It is out for delivery as I type this reply. We shall see how that goes. After reading the V8 thread I have some concern that it may be a bit fragile. If it breaks I will probably just get a Vamo V2 board for 8 bucks from FT to put in the housing and get one of those passthroughs without a battery. Im not looking for a hobby, Im just frugal.
