Greetings to all enthusiasts like myself.
I am hunting down some details on a basic coil:

I watched the 7 year old YouTube "Good vs Bad Clapton coils Explained video. It was very
informative and I'm wondering if I can use get the likes of that Pegasus on my Vaporesso gtx RBA coil base decks.

I own 2 Vaporesso mod-pods. LUXE RX (80 watt).... and ....Luxe X (40 watt.)

They both take interchangeable coils that install into pods.
The kit for this gtxRBA coil says the coil must have a heating wire of between 0.3 to 0.5 mm.
The coil's outer diameter and Length should be less than 3.5mm and 5.5mm.

Question 1 ;
Which Pegasus coil do you recommend that can work for both models ??
Or,
do you recommend a different coil size for each?

Also; question 2,
Can you advise me on where to order these Pegasus coils ??

Thanks for any help..... The video information was great but perhaps out dated.?

Hi and welcome,

Tell us about the best coils you currently build for each device: 40w/80w.
Id, od, Wire awg, material, wraps, resistance, wick. Please.

What is your preferred wattage for each device?

Do you use the same nicotine level juice in both devices?

Will you buy pre-wrapped coils or spooled clapton wire and make them yourself?

Where in the wide world of vape are you located?

Cheers
I

Thanks for the welcome. I don't build. Yet. Just bought the kit (pictured.) it comes w/one premade coil shown.
I'm looking to buy pre-made coils like the kind of coils mentioned in the Youtube video I viewed. These are stainless steel called Pegasus
Oh, those coils, from That video...YEAH !

My local has a few; Tienda de Vapeo. Compra tu vaper al mejor precio

Cheers

I bought a bunch of various types of laptops online a few weeks ago. I also bought some fuse claptons from iirc Eleaf, though they only had one resistance. Making claptons is a pita but very doable. An electric drill and a fishing swivel are very useful. What type, diameter, and ohm rating are you looking for? The ones I bought were fused claptons at .3 ohm. Most claptons are sub ohm.

Thanks for your input. I was going to first try for a 0.7ohm as that's the rate that came with the kit assembly and most likely to work. Even though I don't know exactly what gauge that translates to, They always note the Ohms.
Don't know the meaning of fused vs not fused but I'm looking for Stainless steel.
I will look at Eleaf. thanks.

There are coil builder apps that can help you. There are a bunch of kinds of claptons. Fused claptons (which you may have a hard time getting up to .7) aliens, etc. at its heart a clapton coil is a thicker wire with a thinner wire coiled around it so it looks a bit like a guitar string (hence Clapton I suspect) but what that wire is, how many of them are there, and how it is done, varies quite a bit. The variety pack I bought recently on eBay was all Claptons, but various types. I think I counted 8. The classic Clapton was .85 all the others were much lower. I think the next down was a hive at .5. Fused is more than 1 core wire, generally laid flat. All the other types are variations of what sort or number of twist wires or core wires are used.

Very informative. Thanks for your help. That variety pack - or something like it in SS - may be just what I need to get a handle on what I like best.

Do you have a link to one that reads in English??
If you go back to that website, Tienda de Vapeo. Compra tu vaper al mejor precio, a box will pop up that lets you change the wording from Spanish to English. I don't see any Pegasus coils that are made with SS wire there though.

Also, there are several different brands that produce wheel-like variety packs of coils, like the Sea Wolf ones shown above. GeekVape makes some, Demon Killer is another, as well as Alien. Several US vendors still sell them, but very few of the coils in the wheel are 0.5 ohms or above. I don't remember seeing any in the wheel variety packs that were SS.

There are still some vendors who sell smaller, round, screw-on-top, plastic containers of pre-wound coils though...with 4-10 coils in the container. Each type is usually available in several different styles, ohms, and wire material, too.

Here's a US vendor that has pre-wound coil options in a wheel-like variety pack and a bunch of different ones in the little round containers, by Alien. They have a 25% off coupon code, too.

They should be quite findable retail at any place that is or used to be a real vape store (rather than a tobacconist that sells some vape stuff. It use to be the prevalence of smok brand name stuff was enough to differentiate. If you saw smok anything you weren’t dealing with a real vape store. Nowadays it’s more complex. They will likely be in a drawer somewhere if they got em.

I can’t use that on just any atty anymore and keep up with pods and cartridges volume and flavor wise. My aromamizer will do it though. I bought a bunch of fused clapton pre-mades lately as they will in most things I’m running single coil squonkers with em atm. Seems ok and about par. The aromamizer was a double with a gigantic chamber (so 2 big diys will do it) thing is flat out ungainly though. Plus it seems a 21700 has enough juice to ape 2 18650s so single battery 21700 squonkers seemed like a win. I’ve got a 4 coil RDA that I drill squonked, but it’s a ..... to build (tiny wire) and I haven’t bothered. Might beat pods/disposables/cartriges with it though.

I watched that Pegasus Vapor Academy video and then did a little poking around as I'm not familiar with the Vaporesso GTX RBA.
The PVA branded coils are two-core fused Claptons with either 24, 26, or 28g SS 316 inner core and all are 40g SS 316 outer.
It looks like the included coils with the RBA are just single round wire builds. I only did a quick search but didn't find the wire type or gauge that comes out to the 0.7 ohm reading.

Going with the fused Claptons, it will be a bit difficult to fit in a build that matches the 0.7 ohm reading of the round wire.
Using a simple SS 316 round wire build instead of fused Claptons would probably achieve that number easier.

But, you don't have to necessarily shoot for that number.
Looking at other GTX coils available, it seems that your devices will indeed support a lower resistance build than the 0.7 ohm, although the Luxe X may be more limiting with only 40 watts output.

WireOptim is one wire retailer that sells 2*28SS + 40SS fused Clapton wire by the spool (25') or premade coils with options for inner diameter and number of wraps in packages of 10 coils. This should be equivalent to one of the wire options sold by Pegasus Vapor Academy if their wires are no longer available.

The wire by the spool would give you the option of winding coils of varying inner diameter and wraps to dial in what build works for each device, if you have any interest in doing so instead of the premade.

I am sure there are other wire retailers that would have comparable product.

I am not the most experienced builder by any means but hope this may be of some help to you.

If I've goofed anything here, hopefully those of more knowledge will correct me or clarify further.

Good luck :)

With fused claptons it will be very very hard. They usually start sub ohm. The ones I had were I think .85 so a two coil setup with them would be .425. To get .7 you’re going to need 2 coils of 1.4ohms. So big and hair fine wire. I don’t wanna wrap those. If 1+ ohm premade coils can be found it would at least be close. Iirc there may be some 1.2s around, you could do that perhaps.

Yes. That looks like the size that came with the coil kit. Thanks
