Hello all!

I have been lurking around this forum and several other websites doing research about e-cigs and vaping. Finally had the courage to sign up. (The image verification part of registration was a pain! Took me nearly 10 tries. Anyone else experienced that? Or is it just me?)

Although i've done hours of reading online, i do still have a couple of questions that i hope you guys can help me with. I'm planning to get a DCT (a 3ml one to start with and upgrade to a 6ml one) with a drip tip and a battery.

1. What kind of battery should i get? I understand that Dual coils require pretty high voltages so most LI-ON batteries are out of the question. Professional VVs like the ProVari and LavaTube are too huge/thick for my tastes. Or do i not have a choice if i decide to go DCT?

2. I would be trying out different juices and nicotine flavours. Is it possible to wash DCTs? If so, can i do it with water and just let it dry? I mean, i can't be just topping up with another flavour right? It would produce a strange mixed taste?

3. If i turn an e-cig upside down, will the juice leak out from the drip tip? I'm curious. It affects how i'm able to carry my (future) PV around.

Please try not to give me the "use the search option" flame. Although i have been lurking and reading most posts and googling for the answer, i have yet (at least to my abilities) been able to find the answers to my question.

Thanks for the time guys!

1. You need either a variable voltage device or a 5 volt mod to use dual coil cartos and get any kind of performance out of them. A regulated ego is barely going to hit 3.63 watts per coil, an unregulated ego(kgo, epower, riva etc.) is going to push 4.56 watts per coil most of the time. These aren't even in the low range for good performance, much less the 8 to 10 watt target range.

2. You can clean them with water, personally I don't care if they taste mixed a little while, so unless they are just horribly opposed flavors I just fill up the tank with the new flavor. But if you are tasting new flavors you probably should go with an option that holds less. Carto tanks are really designed for someone who has found and settled on an all day vape liquid.

3. It can leak, yes.

4. DCC rated at 1.5 ohm is actually two 3ohm coils. If you were using an ohm's law calculator to work out the wattage of your vape you would use 3ohm as the resistance.

Honestly, dual coil cartomizers are over used under performers. You're much better of using the same tank with an extra long single coil carto in it

imsoenthused, thanks a lot! That is very enlightening!

It looks like i'm going to have to go for a VV like a ProVari Mini or Lavatube Mini or a box mod. I was actually hoping that some of the smaller sized batteries would be able to power DCTs properly while looking aesthetically pleasing. I supposed i have yet to reach the "vaping stage" where bigger, more powerful and function-decked out batteries appeal to me.

What do you mean when you say dual coil cartos are overused under performers? Do single coil cartos produce the same results with a lower voltage requirement?

Yes, a good single coil extra long carto will work perfectly in a tank, in fact they work better as tanks do a much better job of keeping the bottom of a carto wet than they do the top. Many people use resurrectors or boge cartos in their tanks. I prefer single coils even on my provari.

What I meant about them being over used is that they insist on selling those smoktech tanks with them instead of a decent single coil, when the vast majority of people buying them are running PVs that just can't make them perform well.

Personally, i would say buy the tanks with out a carto from discount vapers, then buy good cartos from wherever you like. I'm fond of the fifteen pack deals at crystal clear vaping.
