With all these cool PV's being sold, seems VW/VV is the way everything will be in 2013. Since I'm new at this still I troll every site looking reading and watching videos. What I was wondering about is Hybrid mechanical devices.. They cost a lot of money but look really cool.. What's the appeal with these comparing it to something like a ZMAX or any VV/VW unit..

I like my mechanicals because of the "no wire, chip or solder" thing...and because (at least in the case of a fully mechanical like the LavaFire) you can disassemble EVERYTHING and clean it. The firing pin in the connection is solid...not press fitted. If you need to adjust it, you use a screw underneath to raise or lower it. Nothing is going to break or malfunction. Battery springs can be easily replaced. There's a sense of security in that. As for the "unregulated" nature of the batteries; when using the 18650 size the "drain" takes soooo long that it's hardly noticeable. I've been guilty of running one too long and later discovering (to my shock) I'd run the thing down to 3v and didn't even realize it. At least for me...the vape is just THAT good! Solid full bodied hits...no switches or wires to slow things down! lol!!!

The Siam Cube is a good example of a mechanical mod. There is a drop off in power...it is something you either get use to it and are willing to live with it or you don't. But as long as you keep them clean the mechanical mod should be working 50 years from now. I also have regulated devices in 3.7 and 5 volt. Great devices as the provide a consistent power till it shuts off when the batteries drain down.

VV and VW devices are more complicated. I can make a mechanical mod that would last for many years but once you add the electronics in it becomes a different game. Build quality become much more important. I have a ProVari and it has been going great for a year now. But I know every time I fire it I age the electronics in it. Of course ProVape will fix it for a nominal fee. Currently they will upgrade a Version 1 to a Version 2 for $20. I imagine they will be willing to continue to upgrade as long as the tube design remains the same.

I think there will be a place for all three types of PVs well into the future, each type has a base of supporters and many vapers are like myself and like all three types.

Well the way I'm going with buying PV's and stuff lately I will look into a mechanical for sure.. I see the kick in a lot of mods, that's for wattage? What I would like to own is a solid built, short mech pv with a nice RBA.. Something that I can take anywhere, not worry about flipping to different settings and hits like a truck.. Just not going to drop a few hundred atm.. I know a device like this is out there, can someone give me some names so when I'm waiting for the world to end tonight I can troll their site..
