Just bought snus... how well does it work?

I've been vaping for over a month and have been cheating at night when I get home with hookah. I don't want to but I needed the MOAIs or whatever they're called. Either way I want to quit smoked tobacco so I got snus. I have VG and I know I need to drench the snus with it and so on. I just want to have a few general questions answered...

I bought Discreet Snus and it didn't say the amount of nicotine that was found in it. So how much is in it?

How well has it worked for others?

Is it dangerous to vape it? If so, by how much more than tradition vaping?

Can you add flavored nic juice to the snus to give it extra flavor?

The Discreet snus is 7.4mg nic, although I've found the Swedish snus @ 8mg to be much more potent in its effects. Vaping snus will give a good flavor, but not much nic and maoi effects. It's as safe as anything else we've been vaping and can be soaked in e-liquid for more satisfaction. That said, through much experimentation by Tropical Bob and other forum members, if you need the other goodies for the relaxing focus of a smoke, you'll have to use the snus as intended .

Well the only point of me buying the snus was to be able to vape it to get my relaxation and MAOI's so was the purchase I just made a waste?

The Holy Grail for some of us is being able to vape the whole alkaloids from tobacco (which have MAOI effects but we really don't fully understand what else they do to relax us, because there are quite a few other alkaloids besides the beta-carboline MAOIs).
Sadly, there isn't anything commercially available that can do that....*

Honestly, you ought to try the snus as intended. I find when it's been under my upper lip for ~20-30 minutes, the relaxation begins to set in, and even vaping then is more relaxing. If you find the taste off-putting, know that it gets a lot more tolerable with time.

If you want the tobacco alkaloids in more convenient format, try Ariva dissolvable tablets (another one discussed in the Smokeless Tobacco forum).

It works if you work it.


*Read DVap's blog for his chronicle of isolating a Whole Tobacco Alkaloid liquid with his chemistry expertise -- which has gone through positive preliminary testing, but understandably he has not been interested in selling it. He may yet find a way for us regular cowboys-and-girls to make it at home without a chem degree, but that's in limbo right now.

Well since I smoked hookah to begin with, and hookah is much different then ciggs... hookah tobacco is cooked because it's smothered in VG. So therefore might I experience just about the same feelings that I had when smoking hookah if I smother the snus in VG and vape it?

Just my 2c worth Bogalu but try a General Mini Mint under the lip now and then. Good flavour and good feeling of wellbeing too. 4mg so you could use it as a treat in between vaping.

PS I would regard snus-vaping as a last resort, good if we had an E-Liquid ban to deal with, which seems unlikely in US or UK but is alas the case in other countries.

Try it Bogalu.
From my understanding of how the hookah applies heat, cook vs burn, I honestly can't see where there would be any harm.

Let us know how it works for ya but also, you'll probably get much more satisfaction by just putting the snus under your lip.

Simpler way to go and darn sure effective!

Is $1.50 a pack for discreet Snus a good deal? I hope so because I bought about 30 packs. lol

I haven't played around with snus, but one idea would be to soak several packets in a predetermined ammount of VG or PG and then extract the liquid by compression in a syringe. Soaking it for an extended time (several days) would transfer more of the chemicals to the liquid.

Price on the Northerner site is $ 0.99 a pack, Bogalu, but then postage will add considerably to that.

Good advice is to open several snus site pages - for example northerner, getsnus.com, buysnus.com - and compare pricing, not forgetting what can be quite steep postage costs.
I like the Cool Mint and Strawberry Discreet, but the Original has not been great for me!
