So I bought a kanger kbox mini off a friend a while back and I've had it for a while now. I got tired of buying new coils every 2-3 weeks, so I decided to buy a Zephyrus RBA. the coil it came with was very nice but soon burnt out, I am now trying to build my first one. when I purchased my new tank I got some pre-made coils for free with the purchase. they are Comp Tiger Wire (.5mm, 24 GA, 0.3-0.4 OHM per coil) I tried to install these but my box keeps flashing 0.1 ohms when I try to heat the coil up. I got some 28 GA wire and wrapped my own coil, installed them, tried to fire it and the same flashing of 0.1 ohms happens. Not sure what's wrong. if anyone can help me it would be much appreciated

Easy (if this is what's going on, but I think it is): Your coils are simply too small and too low resistance... you need to test them properly

Your mod cannot fire at such low reading... you need coils that are at least 0.2ohms for most mods. Try making a larger coil (as large as the deck can hold without touching the sides).

As like someone else stated, they might be touching the sides or each other (if you're doing a dual setup) and creating a short.

I did 7 wraps and i didn't check resistance
You need to be aware that too many talk about the whole "low ohm" as being better.. it's not.

Second, if you look up that particular mod, you will find that:

The KBOX Mini can fire atomizers as low as 0.3 ohm
(Source: Kanger Subox Review - Vaping360)

So as I stated already, your build is simply too low.

You have to remember that when you do a dual coil deck, the resistance (OHMs) are cut in half.

So, those 0.5ohm coils, two of those on a deck equals to a total of 0.25ohms, which is under what this mod can do.

So you should build for (my recommendation) at least a total of 0.6ohms, so each coil should be 1.2ohm (for a dual setup), or if you have the option, just use a single coil (which then can be a bit smaller, but still stay around 0.5ohm).

If you make your own coils, learn to use the calculator and get and use a tester.
Coil wrapping

Note that if you are going to use TC with SS, be aware that you actually need enough wire mass for the mod to register the TCR of the metal to work correctly, so again, larger coils is better. As long as you stay at around the 0.5 to 0.8 ohm range, you should be fine.

I know it was a typo, don't take any offense.

Two .5Ω coils = .25Ω

Why don't you start with a simple non sub Ω coil before you jump in the fire. I recommend a 1.3 to 1.4, master that then work your way to where you want to be. It will lessen the learning curve and keep you safe at the same time.

Of course he could always keep the coil and ditch the mod which in the long run is likely the better route.

Welcome and glad you joined. Hang in there, you are understandably struggling with an advanced vaper device. You might want to look at the information below and it may help you understand vaping a little more.
