I've been vap'ing for about a week now...was a 2PAD smoker prior to that and was really happy about the fact that I was able to stay away from the regular cigs nearly from the first day that I received my 510 kit..

I was vaping 24 mg juice for the first couple days, then went down to 18 mg and have been doing pretty well with that. Would get the occasional nic craving, but if I vaped 24 mg for a bit, the craving would normally vanish.

Today, I was happily vap'ing along on 18 mg while I went about doing errands and such...then, tonight, I got hit with a major craving. Right away, I brought out the 24 mg and vaped my brains out with it...very little to no help, unfortunately, and I finally caved in and had an analog...and now I'm kicking the hell out of myself for it :(

I know I probably shouldn't...but damn...will these cravings ever really go away? The other thing that concerns me is this...when I was smoking the analog a short while ago, I expected it to taste horrible...well, it didn't....not that it necessarily tasted good, but it didn't taste bad either...the other thing I've noticed is that my taste buds and sense of smell haven't really kicked back in yet (not that I've noticed, anyway)...so I'm not really being turned off when I'm around others who are smoking regular cigarettes, or noticing any odors in my house (where I used to smoke constantly) or on my clothing, etc...it's been a week since I've been on ecigs...shouldn't I have noticed a difference by now??

Yeah, I'm rambling now....*sigh*...anyway, just needed to vent...am going back to my vaping and hoping for the best for the rest of tonight anyway...

Hi and stop kicking yourself.....No law says you have to switch immediately.....for some it takes time. Smell and taste buds come back with the 1st month,,,nothing you can push or rush,,,your body will do the deed. It might be time for you to look into a battery that is a little stronger one that can hit like an analog did. Let us know and we will make recommendations.

Thanks everyone...I do have a Riva 510 on order, which shipped yesterday I believe...hopefully the stronger battery will help. In the meantime, I brushed my teeth really well afterwards and so far, I am doing ok...sitting here vaping on the 24 mg juice and hoping that one analog is all that I needed for awhile!

x2, i'm with canoeist on this. Don't be kicking yourself now.

You've gone from 2 packs a day to.......none ...in a week. Tonight you've had one cigarette. Seems to me you should be celebrating the massive gains you've made this week. And not spending more than a passing regret at having had one cigarette.

I must admit. The first week for me was sooooo easy that i thought i'd cracked it for sure. Then came day 8. And bizzarly i started to get very tetchy.

A good technique to help you mentally would be to welcome any cravings you get. Welcome them. Laugh at them. Every craving that passes is a victory. On average a craving will pass in seconds ....if you let it pass.

I would take a few more weeks before i tried to start cutting my mg's. The call of Cigarettes can be very loud if you leave yourself short.

Dust yourself off...... Get back on your horse..... Ride out of there..... And stop looking back.

I'd also advise keeping your nic level at 24mg or higher until you're confident it's safe to lower it. I vaped @ 36mg for a few months when I started, then gradually eased my way down to 24mg. I still have the 36mg in the morning and I keep 18mg on hand for evenings when I'm chain-vaping. A couple of months ago I tried to vape only 18mg and I found myself craving cigarettes - after over a year of not smoking! That scared me, so I've scooted back up to 24mg.

I don't want to encourage anyone seriously trying to quit to give in... but, the first couple of days I vaped, I finished up the pack of smokes I had open. Then, I quit for five days... then gave in and bought two packs. I vaped and smoked, carefully comparing the two. I then quit for six days, then bought two more packs. Again, I vaped and smoked.

More and more, I began to realize that I wasn't missing anything with cigarettes and gaining a lot with vaping. I reached the paradigm shift.

Yes, I still sometimes have this thing where I think how great Pall Malls were... just like sometimes I remember great memories of an ex-girlfriend. Then I really think about it and remember that both relationships were never as good as I sometimes remember them. It's not that I hate Pall Malls or her... I just know that if I got involved with either again, it would end unhappily for both parties, just as it always did before.

I've been vaping for a about a week, and I have had one strong craving. I focused on something else for the few minutes it took to pass, and I really haven't had any since.
OP I think its awesome that you where able to go without smoking at all for two weeks from two packs a day! Just remember these are habit changing choices we are all making, and it takes some time to find a new routine replace the old one.
