Hi Kids... I abandoned tobacco and began vaping only 5 & 1/2 weeks ago. But, now I'm looking at a domestic (US) trip via air tomorrow. So, I get the feeling that if at least the batteries are not in my checked bag, there will be no problems? Makes me think I should just keep all in my carry-on from what I've read. Thanks in advance for any tips if I'm misguided. Ask my wife... it's not unprecedented.

;)

Put everything in your carry-on, and you'll be fine. If you have liquids, put them in your quart baggie with the rest of your liquids so the TSA agent can see it. For the rest of your gear, organize it into baggies. For example, if you have a lot of gear, put chargers/cords in one baggie and devices, batteries, atomizers/cartomizers in another. If they think it looks questionable on the scanner, you'll be able to easily get it out and tell them what it is. I recently took an international trip and was questioned only once in Munich on the way home. When I told the security agent it was an e-cig, he was satisfied, put it back in my bag, and sent me on my way.

Thanks, Greg... I really appreciate the tips. There's lots of great material in the forum, but I just needed some really current info so as not to lose my *stash* tomorrow. Appreciate it, man.

Follow what GregH posted and you will be all set. I fly all the time and have never had a problem. I was asked about my Darwin in China and an eGo in Holland and as soon as I showed them I was on my way.

Sorry, Liv... was afk for a bit, but I thank you for your affirmation of Greg's advice. If it all goes to hell, I'll let you guys know.

I'm going to be flying cross country in a few weeks and figured I'd just put my stuff in checked baggage. It sounds like it's better to put it in carry on. I was wondering why?
Also, I'd like to take my Silver Bullet but thought I'd be better off with a couple of cheap boxmods instead, just in case they get lost. Any advice?

cskent - It is better to keep them in carryon. In checked luggage you are not there to explain what the unit is and they will open it up to see it. One member had half his MOD missing upon arriving at destination since TSA opened bag to check it. I fly with a p-10 for stealth on board, 2 Darwins and a handfull of ego batts. All go in my carryon bag.

Btw, my trip went great. All was in the carry-on as suggested (separate clear bags) and no one ever asked a question. I got the feeeling they'd seen this stuff before. Cskent; they don't want to find lithium batteries stored in your checked bag (there is a valid safety reason) and you will lose them.

Happy to hear all worked out.

Thank you all so much for this helpful thread. I have stockpiled a lot (like 20) cartomizers from Vapor4Life for a trip I will be taking to Vietnam. I plan to bring the batteries in my purse and chargers in my laptop bag. Do you think it is okay to put the cartomizers in my checked luggage or do they need to go in the computer bag as well?

It shouldn't be a problem having those in your checked luggage. It's just that batteries (for any device) are a no-no in checked bags. And like another poster said, it's better to have your actual device with you to keep your eyes on it and be able to explain it rather than being at the mercy of an inspection when you're not there. But you shouldn't have any problems with them in your carry-on either. Just put them in a baggie to keep them organized. I went through security with about 7 cartomizers and 5 atomizers. No one batted an eye about those. The only PV-related stuff I checked were 2 extra bottles of liquid in case I suffered a spillage while on my trip. On my way home, I put those in my carry-on liquid baggie too.

My recent experence flying San Francisco to San Antonio - no questions in San Francisco. San Antonio A Gates - no questions; San Antonio B Gates I was asked about "Flash Drives" that resembled pens??? I took them out of my bag, showed the TSA agent, and explained what they were. He replied that he had heard about e-cigs, but had never seen on. I demonstrated how it worked right there at the security check point. I also gave him a coupon card for mypvshop.com. He said he'd give it a try.
