My personal rant is that I think makers should formulate a juice the way they think it should be. Extra flavor shots change the entire construction of the flavor. I recently ordered a flavor that was ok with an extra flavor shot and when it came in it tasted completely different. I don't go through enough juice from any particular vendor to figure out where their sweet spot is. Just make the damn juice. As long as I am ranting, one thing that is going to have to happen before this thing really goes mainstream is pre-steeping...we live in a society that is all about immediate gratification.

I have seen a few vendors who do offer the extra "shot" of flavoring and always thought it was silly. Sort of like a movie where the guy bellies up to the bar and orders a single, then quickly changes his mind and tells the bartender to make it a double. Make up your mind!!! lol
More of something is not always better, but in our society, many times it is considered to be that way. The same thing with instant gratification. Drives me nuts. Maybe it's all the technology we are surrounded by. When I make juice, I always try to let it steep. Best way I have found to do that is make either one big bottle or two bottles and put one away.

Some companies do pre steep, but that doesn't make the flavors great. I've learned who makes the best juices for my taste buds and order in time so I can steep them before using. Price is not a issue for me simply because saving a buck or two isn't a savings when it gets poured down the drain.

I agree. I like strong flavor but attempts at extra flavor shots have not worked. I do much better finding vendors that mix in line with my taste. One exception though. My favorite is 100% VG. I've asked Highbrow to use their judgment on flavor when ordering this option and the results have been great, flavor equal to their standard PG/VG mix.

i’m discovering that i don’t like strong flavor. i have a preferred brand of juices but lately i’ve been experimenting with other brands and so far found the others to be almost obnoxious both in smell and flavor.

though i’ll continue to experiment with other brands it’s helped me figure out that what i may like about my preferred brand is the consistent smoothness of their juices with that hint of flavor with every vape.

I wonder if taste in e-juice is like wine.... the idea of "juvenile taste" when first starting to learn about different types of wines? Maybe we like stronger flavor when we start vaping and move toward more subtle flavoring as we proceed. (Wow.... I'm sure in a pensive mood today -- housebound due to rain?...lol.)

I must have permanent juvenile taste buds. 1 year into vaping & I still prefer strong. Makes sense because I like strong red wine, dark thick beer & the spiciest food I can get.

I'm the same way. I was thinking it was maybe the 20+ year pad habit had wrecked my taste buds...still waiting on some taste to return.

along that line of thought i like smooth wines and, coincidentally, it seems my preferences in ejuices lean in that direction too. never made that connection before but maybe there’s something to it.

In all fairness, I understand the problem juice makers have. The same flavorings at different PG/VG ratios taste different and the same flavorings in the same PG/VG base will taste different depending on how long they've steeped.

To add more confusion, you can't just increase/decrease the flavorings depending on the PG/VG blend. When I went from 70/30 to 50/50, the different ratio seems to affect different flavors differently. In other words, you have to actually adjust the whole recipe.

Given all the variables, it's impossible for a vendor to pre-steep all their juices (and their various permutations).

If they did try to pre-steep every permutation of juice they sold, they would need a rather large facility. I'm sure the juice vendors do well selling their wares, but that would be an expense above and beyond so to speak. Purchasers of juice can steep at home easily once they are satisfied with a particular mix and hopefully buy ahead far enough to always have a supply of ready juice on hand.

Just reading this thread and just can't believe the luck you Americans have. I am not being critical, but you've no idea just how good you've got it. I live on a small windswept island in the Irish Sea, between the UK and Ireland, you can just pick it up on Google Earth. My local e liquid supplier B&M is a second hand shop with a tiny display of e liquid of roughly 12 flavours, all of which are awful 13 miles away (26 mile round trip). I end up ordering online, from the USA and with the shipping cost it's the same price as buying local. Just ordered a Russian 91 from the US, because the it's half the price I can get one but I've got a two week wait for delivery. If you lot would only consider calling soccer football instead I'd move there in the beat of a heart. So here's to the US and their consumer based economy. God you fella's have got it good.

Never thought I would say it after wanting huge flavour, but Vapetriks may just be too much for me :D Seriously intense if you can get on with the flavours. I order most of my liquid from the US too, very few from select UK vendors. Local B&M's are a no no for me. Wayyy overpriced for cheap nasty stuff (worse than you could imagine!).

Sometimes you need to adjust for new equipment. We recently switched from cigalikes with cartos to Evod setups with Evod tanks and Protank 2 minis. What was a perfect balance for us of nicotine, pg and vg in the cartos now results in slightly muted flavor and harsher hit in the Evods and Protanks. We are now in the process of adjusting pg/vg ratios and nicotine, and trying flavor shots (1 at a time) until we again hit what works best for us.

As much as I like having options, when I go to a restaurant and order something, I don't want the cook to ask me how to tailor the food to suit me; I want him to put his best foot forward and give me what he thinks is the best possible combination of ingredients.

Being able to select a PG/VG ratio I'm okay with. When they start to throw me curveballs like menthol, sweetener, sour flavor, extra flavor shots, I start to feel that they don't really have any confidence in their products.

+1 for that! I got a very good list of vendor recommendations for strong flavor from a member here. Vapetriks, way too intense!
