Comes in a nice tin. Looks like two 18650 will fit on the sides, but I plan to use it as a PT with a high amp power source.

These big gun regs look cool (especially the one with the watt meter) but just thinking about ohms law and wondering...with the increased size (and cost) of these regs, wouldn't a reasonable alternative be to stick with usual reg but run an 11V Lipoly and just run your voltage up instead of the current?...size of the batt would off-set the size of a 5A+ reg, the size of the conductors going to our atty cons are smaller and would be considerably safer...I mean, I'm just as guilty, I love the 28, it's great for re-wicking, lasts forever...but we're approaching the current draw of a small kitchen appliance...that we put in our mouth...just thinking

That would work, but I like my PTs..
Even with batteries if I run my 1.8 28g 10 wraps at 5.5 volts that's the limit of 3 amps on most of my units.

So how many wraps of 28G would I need around a 2mm wick to keep the coil above 2ohms? Worse question, how many amps would this require? Something tells me I had better try some 30G instead. :)

I read that 6 coils is about 1 ohm so around 12 coils to get around 2 ohms. 2 ohms is 2 ohms no matter the thickness of the wire it is going to use the same amount of amps. OHMS LAW says 2 ohms at 5 volts would be 2.5 amps.

When you go to 28g the wire temp per mm of wire is very important and in a 12 wrap you will need more amps to get the wire temp up to the ideal temp for the juice used.

What i got from reading that is even though the wire temp will be lower per a mm with the 28g wire the vapor is is better.
from my subjective experience, I get more vapor, more consistent taste from the 28g coil at the same wattage but lower wire temperature. I can even say that at 14 watts (I am using a Provari so I am limited) that the 28g coil producing .15 watts per mm is more robust than 8.5 watts on a 32g coil at .20 watts per mm and the .25 watt per mm at a total of 10 watts.

But yes if you wanted to match wire temps it would take more amps

Looking at the amp limits on the lm2596 boards i see 2 amp limits, if i am looking to pull more in the 3 amp range, will i need a heat sink for these boards?

I think the LM2596 chip is spec'd at 3A :?: A heat sink would only be needed for the board if current was being run through it for longer than what vaping uses (~< 5 seconds at a time).

I have this KIS-3r33 'plug-n-play' module in my Desktop Mod; it's about the size of the larger, square LM2596 modules - Kis 3R33S DC DC Step Down Power Module 4A 4 75 24V to 0 93 18V for LED GPS MP3 | eBay
