Go ahead and make fun of my mod if you so desire. Not much going on today so i thought I would give everyone a free shot at me. It did feel good to get it all working though. Never made a PV before, and I suck at it. Maybe some people can be inspired by the fact that I stink at this, but here it is and working like a champ. Guess if I can do it then anyone else can. :vapor:

I cant take all the credit on this though. SteelJan was the brains behind it. I just did what she did. I tried to take my time and do a decent job. Guess I am just doing good, to get it working. If I could do it again I would have wired it to show battery voltage. Now I have to take the cover off with a screwdriver, and test with a multi meter. That or test the protection in the battery's every time. Would be easy to fix that though. All I need is a 3 way switch and a new meeter cause I butchered this one. Its only two pins now. I had component arrangement issues and just wanted it done.

Glad ya got it working. I don't know how important it is to show battery voltge. I use a similar assembly and just vape till it stops, which is at about 6.5V.

Too bad SteelJan didn't give Mamu some props. She was the first to find, use and post a nice guide using that assembly in a VV mod. Not in some toy though. :)

Thanks. It makes me feel better about doing the same with the battery's. I had it in my mind somehow that doing that was not acceptable. Guess its better to be overly cautious.

I never heard of Mamu. I just seen Jan's video on YT and my little girl had the same toy. It was already broke too. The video was very easy to follow and she even linked people to places to buy it all. Was very helpful to a novice like me. So I ordered all the parts and before they got here she left the community. I never asked why. In the mean time I posted a SOS on YT and she found it and responded. She has gone out of her way to help me with multiple PM's here and on YT and even sent me the video. This is why I am so grateful towards her. Not sure about all the drama and don't much care to get involved. She is A1 in my book. I don't feel like everyone would have been as helpful as she was. That means something where I come from.

The whole having an in-built meter thing is a rather new development. Many hundreds of mods of have been made and sold without them. Cute and convenient but hardly a necessity.

Here's Mamu's original.

Good luck.

Actually, I'd never seen either one of those posts til right now, or don't remember it. Didn't know who Mamu was til a couple of months ago.

My original vv mod video I did in Feb 2011, Mamu's Dena link you give is from Dec 2011, nearly a year later and uses a completely different regulator. I found the TI unit I used for my first vv mod because I'm on several electronics distributor mailing lists and got a free sample, figured I'd whip up a vv ecig mod out of it. If you watch my video, I hand draw the schematic and explain each part of it as I go, why and how I chose each component. I got a lot of feedback on that video from folks telling me they could not follow schematics, and etc. Here is that video:

So I decided to try and do the simplest vv mod I could think up... went on ebay, poured through the regulator boards there, found one that would work just fine, went to a thrift shop, found the Elmo toy and figured it would be big enough that it would show up good and simple on the video, and voila, the Elmo Mod video.

So, um, yeah, I don't see any controversy. I do not sell mods, do not make any money off of anything vaping related. Just helping folks. If you've seen all my videos then you must know that when I do get an idea from someone else, I definitely give them credit.
