Just Getting Started - Looking for Suggestions

Hello,

I've been smoking for almost a decade now and have found it extremely difficult to quit. I tend to get very agitated and it is difficult to live with me when I do try to quit smoking. I know I need to quit because of the danger of analog smoking but nothing seems to have worked for me. I am hoping that you all will be able to help me quit/continue with some form of E-Cigarette.

I do have a few criterion though.

1. Company must provide an e-cigarette that is manually refillable.
2. Must offer regular sized e-cigarettes (not a fan of the king sizes).
a. As a bonus I would prefer the diameter of the e-cigarette to be the same as a regular analog cigarette.
3. Must have good and reliable service/product.

I also have a preference for white cigarettes (so the battery would have to be white), though its not a deal breaker for me if its black.

Preferably I'm looking for a professional company that designs and/or manufactures their own product. I've come across quite a few resellers and I just don't feel comfortable going with them.

I came across a couple sites that look okay to me:
myluci.dotcom

greensmoke.dotcom

(can't post URLs till 15 posts )

Can you help me?

I would advise you to read up on the 2 most popular models i've listed below, and see which one floats your boat more.

3-piece : Joye 510

2-piece : KR808D-1

You can refill the carts on both models, the 3-piece requires attention and frequent filling, but it's worth it to some people for the extra vapor production and slightly better hit. I personally use a KR808D-1, but everybody feels different about what they want, so do a bit of reading up on those 2 and see what you think ;)

Also bear in mind the starter kits of the 2 models i mentioned are under 40 bux each, don't fall for any dodgy sites on the internet claiming their product is better than the next persons because it's all a fad and a ripoff.

Hmmm.... comes with "6 x Cartomizers in Marlboro 16mg(high)"

I imagine that's a pretty large amount of nicotine. I smoke American Spirit Regular (Cyan/Blue-green box), so I'm not sure what would be best.

Am I correct in assuming that the Marlboro flavor tastes like ... Marlboro reds? Ugh hate those.

Also is the
KR808D-1 Mini e-Cigarette automatically activated or do you need to press a button?

Kit's always come with crappy cartridge flavors, it's the norm lol, that's why you have to buy decent cartridges / juice to go with them.

16 - 18mg is a good base to start off at, that's medium strength, high is 24mg and fierce is 36mg. Of course you can get lower right the way down to 0 nicotine but that wouldn't help you with your cravings :)

The small KR808D-1 batterys are automatic, only regular size and XL are available in manual and automatic.

If you tell us exactly what you're looking for then we can recommend trusty vendors for you.

That's a lot of specific-yet-vague criteria! You will quickly discover that how it looks is not as important as how it vapes.

The real question you need to answer is, do you want a 3-piece or a 2-piece? Are you ok with a bit of tinkering or would you prefer something that is lower maintenance?

I usually recommend a Joye 510 (3-piece) or a KR808D-1 (2-piece) and my preferred vendor for the KR8 is Vapor4Life, but because so many of your must-have's are about how it looks and not how it performs, I'm not sure that either of these models are what you're looking for. They are, however, the models that I see used most often - which means that they work best, I think.

I second the post that advises you to do a bit of research in the stickie'd guide to e-cigs before you make any firm decisions.

Okay. I would prefer something that is reliable. It sounds like the Joye 510 is better than the KR808D-1. I read and watched a couple reviews that said that the Joye 510 cartridges are more reliable and tend to be more uniform in the experience. It also appears that a manual e-cigarette is better for a throat hit.

I would prefer an automatic though, as I am used to holding the cigarette by the filter and not the paper, and am wondering if the experience with a manual is all that different from an automatic.

I know you said looks are unimportant but I would also prefer a regular sized battery.

Hiya

Just to let you know...the 510 and kr808 are both "mini sized" that means they are bigger than a real cig...

If you want a "super mini" you will have a reduced battery time and amt of liquid that can go in your cart which gets annoying reallll quick...

Just in case you thought 510 and kr8 were cig size they arent...

i wanted the same as u but found after 30 mins of using these ecigs you wont mind the extra length that much or the color...

even the batterys on these models annoy me a bit because of short battery life so im getting a bigger battery(a mod called the protege)

if someone has already mentioned the size thing or you already knew that sorry for the double post...

Hi there, just to give you my 2 pence worth (haha am a brit so 'funny money :D)

How the unit looks is an odd one... My first e-cig looked very close to a real cigarette (brown 'filter' coloured bit and white battery) but really was not that satisfying.... then once I had bought that, THEN found this forum, I decided to go for a 510. I deliberately went away from a cigarette appearence and went blue on my 510. This was a move to really try and break the connection with cigarettes.

I am now looking for a mod that will give me higher vapour at a price I can afford (threpence ha'penny :D) but it really does not take long before vapour production becomes the more important factor. I have also found that manual batteries again provide a far more satisfying vapour as you have some control over the atomiser temperature (i.e. you can hold the button for 1/2 to 1 second before drawing)

I have in fact just ordered a new manual battery so the automatic battery that came in my starter kit can be kept for emergencies only.... I really prefer my manual battery. :D

Hope this helps you.

im with leonardo...i love the manual battery and have auto for emergencies only...

the manual on my 510 has the switch about halfway down the cigarette...so its close enough to atomiser(filter if thats what u mean?)...its easy enough a spot to use it...only feels weird for a half hour n u get used to it...

They apparently only sell the M401 and M402, I have read those don't give out much vapor.

They basically sell every Mseries there is and is never out of stock since they manufacture it. You have to try the customer service to know how awesome it is. I've used the Mseries exclusively for more than a year and it would be ridiculous to say that they don't give out much vapor. Batteries and atties are the most reliable imo and the designs are also attractive.

The only drawback they used to have is that they lack some common accessories. With the PCCs and USB PTs now available, they should be as complete as any other models in the market.

Hi there RichardGerardi, to give you an Idea of cost, I bought my first e-cig on 2nd of december and currently have spent £103 on bits and juice... I could have save £20 if I came here before buying my first e-cig:oops:

That includes a 510, some spares and the juice. but it also means that I do not have to buy anything now for at least 2-3 weeks now (so I can save up for a new toy :D)

to compare that with my smoking bill as it would have been, I would have spent £285 on cigarettes. To be honest, one bottle of juice (1-2 weeks worth) costs the same as a pack of cigarettes and the only reason for buying new hardware is because it is shiny and I like shiny things :D

Even so, I am £140 ahead and obviously healthier as well.... to give you an idea in USD I have spent $163, and saved (compared to smoking)$222.77

Those figures at at todays exchange rate :D

I have to agree with the others that a 510 is probably your best bet. If you would like to try one for cheap Madvapes has disposable kits for 9.99. This is an ideal kit to give another or for someone who is not sure that e-ciggs are for them. There are models that might come a little closer to what you are looking for like the 401 series. It is a smaller diameter then most others but along with the smaller diameter comes a smaller cartridge, so it is a trade off.

The first thing you will realize is that it is the difference of e-ciggs that really gives you a shot at quiting. Everything that is different about them is actually breaking a habit. Pushing a button instead of striking a lighter is a way of not associating something with a smoke (aka pleasure). The more you realize this the more you want something that is different, like the Marlboro flavor. The tobacco flavors do not taste like the flavors they are named for, this is really a good thing. When choosing a flavor of juice or cartridge you cannot know what it will taste like. RY4 is a good example of this, many think that it taste like tobacco but as many others don't.

If you want to vape less then you smoke, I would start with a 24mg cartridge or juice. You will vape less the higher nic you go with, even though it will take a few days to fall into a routine. After a while even if you just cut down on the smoking using an e-cigg, you will find that a cigarette does not taste good at all. Whatever you decide, good luck and keep at it.

Just one pov. I started out with pretty much the same criteria as you Aiden, but after a few months of fiddling constantly with the M401 (3 piece) to get it to work consistently I went with a Vapor King (KR808D) 2 piece and haven't touched the M401 since. 3 piece may be good for some people, but for me I tired quickly of inconsistent performance and got over the fact that the VK is slightly bigger and really don't care what it looks like now. Kind of like the size of a camel wide.
