Just Got a Starter Kit, Need Help!!

Ok. I haven't smoked for 5 years. I chew nicorette and love it.

HOWEVER my wife can't find alternative to Marlboro Lights. So we just got an e-cig from South Beach. My first reaction, and her's too, is that the 'hit' is weak. She is dragging on that thing like it was a joint to get some satisfaction.

1) So my question is, altho she realizes a vapor won't be like real smoke, is there a brand of ecig that delivers a stronger 'hit'. Seems she puffs 3 times to get it warm and full before an inhale. Then of course nothing comes out as would be expected with water vapor.

2) Is a stronger mg, say 12 vs 6, going to deliver a more full hit, or does it just deliver more nicotine.

I'm not good with all the terminology at this point, but if non-marketers could respond with real experiences as to what brand, 2 part vs 3 part cig, strength, etc.. they find to be the most accurate simulation of the real thing, or are we wishing for something that isn't possible.

Thanks.

I do believe higher nicotine makes for a better hit but that's just me. ^^^ what basilray said because you'll always get less than what the MG level is, so 6 mg is very low. I started with 11 and it wasn't nearly enough for me. I still use 24mg in the mornings and between 18 and 12 the rest of the day. the nic mg level is per milliliter of liquid, so you'd have to vape an entire ml before getting up to 6mg of nicotine, if that helps explain the levels a bit for you.

6 is way low on nic, for someone who's been smoking. 12 or 18 mg is fairly normal for a lights smoker.

I know lots of folks love the 510 and ego, but I started with a KR808D-1, have stayed with them, been really happy. It's a classic 2-piece unit, and delivers a full 3.7V (510/ego/etc. generally run at 3.2V, I've been told -- 33% less delivered power for a given resistance on the atomizer = less vapor production).

An 808 starter kit, two batteries, charger, initial cartos, runs $50 - $60. Pick up some extra pre-filled cartomizers (cartos, combined cartridge and atomizer), or some blank cartos and e-juice, and you should see improvement. In the 808 family, the XL battery is about an inch longer, delivers noticeably greater time between charges than the standard 808 battery, while the G400 battery from Greeworld is a biggie, 900mAh (which directly leads to a long time between recharges).

Quick answer.
I'm not certain what e-cig starter kit you got from South Beach and the type of PV (Personal Vaporer) is very important.

Some PV's are more difficult to vape than others i.e. harder draw, etc. I started with 510's which are very easy to use, take some fiddling to keep carts filled with juice and batteries need charging every 2-4 hours depending of how much you vape.

I still use my 510's after a year AND have fairly recently added eGo's (like Riva's). The eGo's regular batts go for 6+hours and the 900mAh batts go for 9-10 hours. All the 510 attys, carts, cartomizers also work on the eGo's.
Aside from which PV you have (or get), the e-juice is the key to vaping satisfaction. There are lots of reviews of juices on ECF and the general consensus is that each person has different tastes and must try a variety or juices from different suppliers to find some that suit them the best.

As far as "accurate simulation" of the stinkies, once you have vaped for a very short while, you will forget about the "simulation" and realize you have just discovered a whole new world of enjoying the act of smoking without the 4000 chemicals, side-effects of the quit-smoking drugs, stomach aches from nicorette, allergic reactions to the patch etc. (results may vary).

Hope this helps a little.
Welcome to the Wonderful World of Vaping and ECF.
Stick with it because it is truly great to not have those "smoke" cravings anymore.

Welcome!

Yeah, 6-12mg? That'd be way too low for just about anyone, even on a better model. I've looked at the southbeach site... overpriced and underpowered, IMHO. You're better off replacing it. Any of the aforementioned models would be preferable.

As far as juice, get some in different (higher) strengths, and some plain PG or VG to thin it if you have some that's too strong. I'd try 18mg and maybe a little 24mg as well. The higher strength is good for those "hump" times when you *reallyreallyreally* crave an analog, especially when you're just starting out.

+1 on the MistressNomad vids... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html

Reputable suppliers that I have ordered from with fast shipping: Cignot, Ecigexpress, VaporJunction, Madvapes, Vaporescence. These are just a few; look some up in the suppliers area here and comparison-shop :)

Good luck!

Well without knowing much at this point about various 'juices' or even how to fill these cartridges if they indeed can even be refilled! I think some of these ecigs are disposable cartridge only.

So I'm ordering this
Joye eGo Mega Starter Kit
from Dragonfly eCigs

The Joye eGo Starter Kit includes:
2 - Joye 510 (eGo) atomizer, 2-hole
2 - 3.7V 900mAh rechargeable batteries (manual battery)
2 - Atomizer cover
1 - AC to USB Adapter
1 - USB eGo Battery Charger
(Do not use the eGo battery charger with Joye 510 batteries)

1 - Storage Pouch
1 - Instruction Manual
5 - Cartridges prefilled with 24mg Marlboro Flavor

That last one is the important one. Many of these starter kits have various flavors and strengths with no options to change.

Sound good? $73?

Thanks.

That first one, the South Beach, required a commitment to get cartridges each month. And I don't see options for juices etc..

This Dragonfly appears to be a one time purchase. So I guess we'll learn about liquids and VGs and all that but does this one give us the ability to even have the conversations? Know what I mean?

You've all been such a great help thank you so much.

Cheaper versions of this product appear to either have no prefilled cartridges or an assortment, which we don't want.

OK
Here is a thread i made on the VERY basics... and a link to "Wonderful World of Vaping" in it...

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ular-models-comparisons-reviews-thoughts.html

What you are experiencing on the "3 puffs" is likely the auto battery taking time to activate. Get a basic understanding of models ...then choose a brand. Most newbs are tring to decide on a Brand without understanding the model they are buying...and the pros/cons of it...

Most of those mass marketed ecigs are likely an E9, perhaps an M401 or L88. But more likely an E9. AVOID any and all "mall" type ecigs. They are a waste of money.

$73 is a little high, but the kit includes a couple of things that aren't in other starter kits I've seen, so it's not a bad price. It's cheaper than what I paid for my first starter kit (from Smokeless Delite, which was way overpriced and cheap quality) and cheaper than my second starter kit (Volcano, which was way overpriced and cheaper quality than the Smokeless Delite).

The 900mah eGo should be a great battery for your wife, and 24mg should be good to start with. She might decide to switch to 18mg, but it's good to try different nicotine strengths.

I love my eGo 1000mah batteries. Each one lasts for 12 hours before needing to be recharged, and that's with vaping almost constantly.

Yesterday, thinking I should have some more backup batteries, I bought two eGo 900mAh batteries (not a kit) for $21.99 each at GoodProphets.com. I use cartomizers, so I didn't need the atomizers and cartridges. I also already have two eGo fast chargers and several 2amp wall adapters (from madvapes.com - so I don't have to recharge the batteries using my computers' USB ports).

Then, today, not being able to control my compulsivity, I bought an eGo 1300mAh kit for $59.94 total (after the coupon discount and priority mail shipping) at the following link (bought the last one he had - I couldn't resist!):

510 EGO

Hope you get your order soon and hope your wife enjoys vaping!

I smoked mediums before, about 12-18mg nic. With the e-cig 18mg is not enough, when I mix I bump it to 20mg. The nic carts I use for about 7 puffs which equals 1 analog. I went to 20mg because I want that nic hit so I can quickly tell this cart has nic and isnt an all day puff cart.

When I use it I have 2 carts, 1 nic & 1 no nic in my case. I use the nic cart for about 5-7 puffs and switch to the no nic cart for a while <-- dont count puffs on the no nic. While friends are using their analogs, I use my 510 and rarely think about wanting a real cig. Sometimes I pop the nic cart back on for a final puff or 2, that equals 1 analog to me.

yea you can definitely get that a bit cheaper liberty-flights has the riva which is...29.99? to start with and then you would have plenty of cash left over for juice and stuff

Volcano has the inferno for 52.00, which includes the usb battery and a one year warranty.

I honestly really like my kr808 smoketip (even though I have sort of went out and bought a bunch of 510 stuff recently)
I think for a first time user it is a great deal and they have lifetime warranty on the batteries which is just...mind blowing
