Just got my first one. I went for the 510 starter kit from cloud 9.
I like the taste but im not sure if the nicotine is strong enough as its not satisfying my craving. Is that normal?
Also what can i do to improve the throat hit?
What kind of juice are you vaping? What is the nic content and PG/VG ratio?

They should be telling you what the nic level and PG/VG ratio is. You will experience a stronger throat hit with higher levels of nicotine. Everyone is different but the majority of vapers are generally in the 12 - 18mg range. As for PG/VG, the PG will give you a tad more flavor and a stronger throat hit. The VG will give you more vapor. Many juices will give you an option to blend the PG/VG so you can pick from the best of both worlds. I think you need to start by finding out what nic level and PG/VG ration you have with your current juice. Then you might want to get juice with higher nic and PG content.

I struggled for 4 months with the lil 510 type e-cigs... Not to discourage you, but going to a bigger mod last month was fanfreakingtastic!

Somewhere on the box or elsewhere it should give you the specifics... It is probably best to start with high nicotine and move to lesser later. I topped off a tank with some of my buddies e-juice at trivia last week. Smoked it all the next day, loved the flavor but wasn't getting my nic... Then I remembered he uses 5-6mg juice and I normally use 18mg ... Oooppppsss...

I started on a 50/50 PG/VG and at 12mg but I'm starting to think I should keep my dose at 18mg to satisfy my nic.

I have heard its best to start with a higher dose since nicotine absorbs allot less with vaping compared to cigs
Flexx, I have been vaping for 3yrs and I have much more respect for nicotine since i have begun vaping. My experience is you will absorb much more nicotine vaping verus analogs, so be careful. When I first started vaping I was overwhelmed by the ease of ecigs and got sick several times from to much nicotine, so be careful. I would recommend starting low and move up slightly just enough to satisfy your craving and BESURE to take breaks from vaping again the superb taste and ease of using can be hard to put the ecig down. Good luck and happy vaping.

Wow. Got one side saying start high and work your way low and another side saying start low and work your way high. I'm not saying either side hasn't got merit in what they are suggesting. Yes, if it is too high you will get head rushes, dizziness and nausia. If you start out too low, it will not satisfy and you will risk going back to cigs. This is why we should work from wherever the OP is at now and move forward on that basis. Short of knowing, a 12 - 18mg nic level is generally moderate and in a safe zone. He isn't getting nausiated so he can likely move up in nic content versus what he is currently vaping.

I was a very heavy chain smoker. I started high at 24mg and am working lower now using some 18mg and still some leftover 24mg. The 24mg got me off cigs right away (the cravings do come and go for awhile) but I'm finding the 18mg is working better and I'm considering getting some 12mg. I think I agree with Bwig...if you find a good flavor you can over vape so to speak. But everyone is different in their needs and their vaping habits. I work at home so I can vape whenever....others may only be able to vape during a break at work...so I imagine lifestyle has a good deal of effect. It takes some time to work it all out and I'm still doing that.

If you're getting right off cigarettes, my opinion is that you should start at 18 nicotine generic tobacco. I know that when I'm vaping tobacco flavors, 12 nicotine and you get too much flavor and it just slides through your throat, and 24 nicotine, the throat hit just overpowers the whole experience and feels like it is grabbing your throat as it goes down. Some people like my brother likes that, but he says that it feels like that. 18 seems like a good place to start when right off analog cigarettes.

Well I found out the strength. It was written on the cartridge packing all along. My bad. I was using a medium strength. I put ib a high to try and its better. Still not sure of the mg amount though

Going forward, stick with a vendor who lists both their nic level and PG/VG ratio. Just saying hi, lo, med. is not adequate. Almost all provide it and there is no reason not to. My guess is you're around 18mg nic so when you go to another vendor, start there. Also try around a 50/50 PG/VG blend. The only way you will find out is to sample different levels.

The cartridge was the technology of the past. It morphed into being a "starter" technology. Quite truthfully, it is past its usefulness. The next "starter" route was the cartomizer. And it is still widely used and works fine for many people in many situations. I largely skipped cartomizers and went straight to clearomizers. This is perhaps the most popular style of vaping. The options are endless and when you get on a thread like this you typically will get inundated with everyone's advice and suggestions of which is the best clearo and mod. It will make your head spin. I personally cannot work with anyone in those conditions and I all too often feel sorry for the newbie trying to figure it all out. There are many good options. I would be more than happy to help you get set up with some gear and juice that will greatly accelerate your vaping experience and improve your odds of quitting smoking. But I wont do it on a thread and fight all the traffic of good-intentioned people giving you advice that sometimes serves only to add frustration instead of solving frustration. If you want, I will give you some one on one help in Private Messaging where we can have a quieter conversation. It's up to you. Let me know.

Hi Andrew. Cloud 9 are a good vendor and I am sure would provide you with any further information you need. However, they are closed until November 26th as the owner is getting married!
Here is a list of good UK vendors with discount codes:

ALL ABOUT E-CIGARETTES UK - E-cigarette/E-liquid Vendors List + discount codes

I'd definitely suggest you try a cartomiser rather than the atomiser/ cart combination. The other thing that is very popular with people starting off is a Vision eGo clearomiser, in one of its various forms.
