Four years after my wife and I both quit smoking she has recently started again. I have been interested in e-cigs for a while now but stayed away so she wouldn't feel the urge to smoke again (quitting was much more difficult for her than it was me). I am also really worried about her health. She has really bad asthma and the reason we quite years ago was because smoking and her asthma actually put her in the hospital, plus we now have a baby.

I convinced her to try e-cigs and yesterday I went out and bought the evod 2 2pack starter kit and a few different juices. I am loving it, but she hates it and was wanting to go buy a pack of cigarettes last night. So that is pretty disappointing, but hopefully I can get her to come around.

I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.

if she's got a "reactive airway" (asthma) she might not be able to, unless she's well controlled on meds/nebulizers, anything allergens etc can set some folks "off" into an asthma attack. I was wheezing like hell, using steroid pills and inhalers (post flu secondary reactive airway due to infection since Thanksgiving of last year) for a week or so into the ecig thing I had to use my nebulizer (not the rescue inhaler) a couple times that first week, and not once since then. (May 30th quit date) so depending on how bad hers is, she may or may not be able to.

a friend of ours had really bad asthma and couldn't be around our smoke, the ecigs didn't bother her at all.

if she's tempted to smoke, then by all means the ecig is going to be better, have her hold it in her mouth before inhaling or just mouth to nose, the mucous membranes will absorb some of the nicotine, not as well as "lunging" it...but it's better than the smokes!

good luck!

I was having the same problem with my older brother and my son. When I started diy'ing juices I had them keep trying all different flavors. Once they found "their" go to flavor I convinced them to at least start using ecig while at home or driving. It wasn't long after that they completely converted. I think the right juice and getting use to the normal maintenance is the key to converting the stubborn ones. lol

Hopefully we will all hear good news back soon..

Yo and welcome! From my experience you can't force someone to try ecigs and defo cant force someone to quit if they don't want to - my dad tried for ages pressuring me to try it but in the end i only decided to do it when I wanted to.

My GF had a sly little trick that defo helped persuade me to do it, she found my favourite dessert (lemon meringue) in e-liquid form and it tasted like the real thing! Try finding your wife's favourite drink/fruit/dessert in vape form and you might have a bit more luck :)

Also, maybe try going into a vape shop if you have any around you as many of them will let you have a go with different devices and liquids, this might help her to find the design, flavour and overall vape she enjoys and can run with?

Last resort just bribe her, a shopping trip on the last day of every month she cig free until she's off for good. There's very little I can't get from my girl if i'm offering to take her shopping haha

Her asthma really isn't that bad, as long as she isn't smoking or doing anything really physically exerting. Since she stopped smoking she has been able to come off of all meds and was just very occasionally using the emergency inhaler. So I don't think the asthma would stop her from being able to correctly vape.

I would like to get her into the local shop to try some other flavors since I really just had to guess as what she might like. I don't know if they will let you try or test out of set ups though. It is hard for both of us to get in there though since we have a 4 month old daughter and I wouldn't bring her with us.

You definitely can't pressure her into it. I was in a similar situation with the wife, when I started vaping she had zero interest in it. She thought it was "silly" and just a fad. She continued to smoke while I happily vaped away with the goal of trying every device and juice known to man. She would go outside to smoke and I would go out with her and Vape, I don't remember what juice it was but she thought it smelled good and wanted to try so I obliged, She liked the taste but still thought it was weird so I got her some cheap purple gear and some different fruity juices and she actually used it on occasion while she was at work or whatever. This went on for a while and one night she decided she would Vape the whole next day but if she wanted to smoke she would go smoke, that way there seemed to be less pressure on herself to quit. A week or two later she went all day without a cig because tegu started tasting and smelling really to her so bought her an iTaste VV and a purple mini Protank 2 which she loved.

I guess my point is we all know how hard it can be to switch, she was able to do it but is extremely picky about her juice, it has to be at least 50/50 PG/VG, the higher PG irritated her throat. Going to a B&M is a great idea, that's a lot easier/cheaper than ordering 29 different kinds of watermelon and strawberry juice. But hey it all worked out so far, now she has a purple Sigelei Mini Zmax that's attached to her hand and we are both smoke free, me for 14 months her for 7. Good luck to you, you're for sure in the right place for help. I wish I'd found ECF in the beginning
