Hey all! You might remember me from this thread last week http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...up-ego-refillable-clearos-some-questions.html

After waiting an eternity for USPS to get here, I finally got all of my orders. I have 2 1000mAh Evod VV batteries, 2 mini ProTank IIs (with 1.8ohm coils), and a variety of juices (Wisconsin Frost from Johnson Creek and a sampler pack from Fuzion Vaper, everything I believe is using a 100% VG base).

I looked up some YouTube vids of how to properly fill the tanks, and off I went. I must say, I'm enjoying it so far! I'm a little confused with what voltage level I should push these 1.8ohm coils, though. YouTube reviewers have different answers when it comes to what voltage to set for these coils. Some are saying 3.3, others 3.6, and I found a couple going as high as 4. What do ECF members recommend? I have mine currently set at 3.6, and nothing is tasting burnt after an hour or so of vaping, but I'm not getting a ton of vapor production (although the throat hit is pretty decent). If I were to purchase higher ohm coils (say 2.2 or 2.5), would I be able to crank the voltage higher, or does it work in the opposite way?

Thanks all!

@1.8 ohm i'll usually stay at or under 3.7v or you will indeed get a burnt taste. @2.4 ohm I can push 4.2-4.5v without problems. It also depends on how well it wicks too. Most prebuilt atomizers will not wick fast enough at higher voltages resulting in a dry and burnt taste. I'm not an expert, just from experience. The best way to get what you want is to start learning about rebuildables, that way you can control ohm's and how well it wicks, otherwise you are very limited. but this is just my opinion.

What you set your voltage at is entirely up to you. We all have different likes. Between 3.6 - 4.2 is about average for 1.8 ohms coils. "They" say to add 2 to your ohm to figure out what volt to vape at, and adjust from there. With a 2.2 coil you will vape at a higher volt. I believe your pt2 minis came with 2 coils. The second coil should be a different ohms, 2.2 or 2.5 can't exactly remember. Give those same try and see if you prefer them. I personally like 2.2, although it doesn't matter much to me as I can adjust the volts to accommodate the different coils.

Sounds like a great kit...that'll do you just fine! I wish that's what I had started with...could have saved myself a lot of money!

I'm of the opinion that you don't really need to get into the ohms and volts with that kind of setup, it's a preference thing. When starting a new juice, I usually go down to the lowest setting. I then step it up in .2 volt increments until it starts to taste worse. Just below that should be your sweet spot. On most juices, I've found there's a slightly better setting than before or after it, but not always. Using this method allows you to work with different juices easily...some like it low, some like it higher, some will change (for a different flavor) with more voltage.

Now, the next step is to consider rebuilding so you can save some money on those coils! It's not that hard, kind of enjoyable for me at least.

Good luck on your journey!

Howdy neighbor,
Nice set up.
100% VG, that is thick and does not wick quickly.
How comfortable are you with messing with the coil Head?
May want to remove a flavor wick or 2 from the coil head:
Removing The Top Wick From A Bottom Coil Changeable - YouTube

This may help with the thicker juice.
From there you should be able to up the voltage.......bump it up till the burn comes, then back down one or two.
1.8 ohm coils should do good on the eVod VV batteries.
Wicking the juice..........the biggie

With any VV/VW battery, just start at the low end and take it up in small steps. When the vape starts to taste a little burned, back it off the last step you took.

Then it's "right" for you, your topper, it's resistance, and your flavor. And that's what counts, not what some reviewer or some other vaper likes.

By starting low, you avoid the risk of over-cooking the head (silicone insulators can singe, and then you're looking at a new head to get rid of that taste!)
