So I just got my first PV a Kgo.

The instructions say to charge the battery for 8 hours (even if light turns green).

Use for 20 minutes. Then charge for 1 hour (even if light turns green).

Then it is ready for normal use.

So I go to plug it in and the light on the charger is RED. However, it has a speckle of Flashing Green?

Is this bad?

Thanks.

That is normal. It will eventually become solid green.
Yep. Blinking means charging. Green means good & fully charged. Disregard the instructions about the 8 hours. Thise Instructions are wrong. Leftover instructions from old ni-cad batteries. What we have are li-ion batteries. For detailed info see ECF sticky under battery issues titled "battery TRUTH".
Love my kgo
What color did you get?

The idea of charging the first time is in regards to older battery tech. From what I have researched in the forum I found that this charger has circuitry to turn off charging once it turns green to prevent overcharging. Other chargers may not provide this same safety feature. I would recommend to never ever use a different charger except the same model provided with the unit.

Some overcharging is fine, just don't leave it hooked up for days.
Once the battery is filled to capacity the only thing that happens is you create heat, heat will eventually build up and shorten the life of the battery.

The charger uses a pulse width on/off charging circuit, when it's red power is flowing into the battery, when it flashes green is when the charger is measuring the amount of charge on the battery.

I got a black one, I can't wait to try it out, but I'm on lunch and don't want to leave it charging unattended. Heard about explosions. Think I need to get a Li-po charging bag too to be safe according to some other ECF members.

From what I've read it is safe as long as you use the correct charger. Though I am paranoid as well. Basically what I do is make sure I only have it on the charger while I am at home and not asleep.

Excellent point. I concur.
I have even labeled my chargers & adapters so I don't make mistakes.

I also own a pair of KGO batteries, and I might also add that sometimes the charger gives a green light even though the battery is depleted. If and when that happens, try unscrewing it and re-attaching while applying light pressure from the palm of your hand on the opposite end as you twist (see below). Stop twisting when the light starts blinking, even if it's not all the way in.

You're welcome. Just remember that chip is in ALL chargers, not just Ecig batt chargers. I knew this many yrs ago working in construction with sometimes having up to 30 chargers going. Some think this only has to do with PV chargers.
Happy Vaping.

Thanks for explaining, Vapoor. I've noticed that even when I've left my KGO on the charger after the light has turned green, the battery isn't the least bit warm. That explains it.
