Hang on.. be patient.. you will get vapor. I had the exact same problem when I got my KR808D-1. They need to break in a little bit. It also depends on the juice and carto's you have. I got 'Kamel-WOW' carto's and 'Kamel -Cool carts' from V4L.

I believe the throat hit you feel is just the heat from the atty inside the cartomizer. If you keep going, it should break in and you'll get lots of vapor.
Also another thing I noticed when I first started is you have to get used to it. It doesn't take long, soon you'll be able to take larger 'drags' and produce plenty of vapor.
HANG IN THERE! You'll get it. Good choice on the KR808D-1. It's a nice unit. I also have an eGo, everyone raves about those but I use my KR808D-1 way more. I love it.

Another thing, is I have absolutely no resistance when "Dragging" on the unit. I don't hear any of the fizzling to indicate that the atomizer part of the cartomizer is working. I'm cycling through batteries now to see if its just the battery. If that doesn't work, I'll try a different carto. I tried unscrewing it a little, and that didn't work. I'll just keep persisting until I get vapor!

Well if there's no resistance then it's obviously not an airflow problem. It could be a bad carto... you run into those here and there. Try a different carto.
The one that's not working for you... pop the white cap off and take a peek inside.. does it have polyfill in it? You may have ended up with an empty one...
These things are mass produced I think in China so you're bound to run into a lot of 'funky' ones...

WHOOPS! I see by the above post that it looks like you've got it figured out. Once you get these KR808's going they pump out the vapor pretty good.

Yeah, that's what you gotta do. I'm used to atty's, so the drag off of a carto is a bit tight for me. I still like them though. Just like the above poster says, they gotta break in a bit. Something else I noticed with them is you can clear them out a bit by blowing them out a bit into a paper towel. Not to much, or you willl get rid of to much juice. I hope you get it figured out soon.

Hi Aryadna. I use cartos, too. Cartos do seem to need a few priming puffs to get them going. Then they just plume away... Some don't plume as much as others, even given the same PG/VG ratios. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the interaction of the flavoring syrups.

I'm very new to all of this; have only used Cartos, so have nothing else to compare to. Hope you get yours to Peacock Tail soon =}.

Yep! Bad carto. I changed and I got clouds of delicious vapor on the first pull! Thank you so much for all your help!

Way to go Aryadna. I knew you'd get it going. KR808D-1's are the best 2-piece unit out there, I've heard. I absolutely love mine, and as I said before, I use it more than my eGo!

Glad you got it figured out! :)

No problem. I'm sure some folks have had lots o luck with cleaning. I've hardly ever had any noticeable change in a near dead atty, so I just toss them if they give me any s^%#. When I need a drag, I need it now lol. If I blow them out completely dry, dry burn for just a sec, and still get nothing that sucker is in the garbage can. This can be frustrating if an atty only lasted a day or so, but in the end you get a better hit with a newer atty anyways, and that's what it's all about imo.

Thanks! I tried some of my old e-liquid in the carto to see how it would taste, and it tastes SO MUCH BETTER than it ever did with the knock off VK three piece thinger. I absolutely love, love, love it! Now, I want to get started on my DIY juicing! I figured out that 13mg is a good dose for me. 11 isn't enough, and 16 is too much. So! On with the Mad Scientist experiments! I have TONS of flavorings that I bought at Wal-mart, and I can't wait to try them ALL!

Wal-mart? So the flavoring in e-juice is just regular ol' food flavorings? You mean I can grab the vanilla flavor out of the kitchen and add it to my juice?
I'm sorry, I feel really stupid here, I am still pretty much a noob. But is this true?

Yep! I'm vaping rootbeer right now. I use LorAnn's Oils flavorings from Wal-Mart. It tastes awesome! Just the regular hard-tack candy flavorings. That's what I was sent in the DIY kit from One Stop DIY Shop.

wOw! really impressive. Can you do me a favor and take a pic of the stuff you mixed to get root beer? you just blew my mind!
