I just picked up some tobacco absolute and being that I've never used it any hints, suggestions or precautions would be very appreciated.

I would like to add some to my 555, ry4 and other tobacco recipes but not sure of amounts or if there is anything special I need to know.

I use the TFA tobacco blend which is already diluted and a little goes a long way. I like it with a couple of FA tobaccos but that's about all I use it with. The TFA and Hangsen tobaccos I have don't seem to need it.

Edit: One drop per ml but it's a small drop, so I'd guess that to be about 2.5 percent.

I read in the boba's thread that you should dilute it to like 1 or 2 drops per 10mls of VG or PG and then use that as your concentrate. I could be misquoting, though. Hopefully the poster in that thread will visit this one.

I tried that then dropped it into an atty and it didn't have hardly any flavor. I'm upping the mix by 2 drops till I can get an idea of what it really tastes like. Anyone have a better concentrate recipe?

If you got pure TA, that comes in an 8ml bottle and looks like tar :) here is what you do:

First you need to warm it, place a cup of water in the microwave and get it to almost boiling, then place the TA bottle in the hot water. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Now remove it and use a diposible pipette, use 1 drop per 10ml. The heat will make it thin enough to work with easily. I usually make a Mar tobbaco flavor as such:

2.5ml of TA warmered
500ml TFA Cotton candy (EM @ 10% in PG)
500ml of seedmans commercial tobbaco flavor TOB506

If you want to do it the simple and cheap way use...

8 drops of TA
2.5 oz (75ml) TFA Cotton Candy
2.5 oz (75ml) of seedmans commercial tobbaco flavor TOB506

Use at 6-10% in your juice mix.

Hope this helps.

That's exactly what I got in a 4ml vile. Its dark and thick like tar. Thank you for your input it makes a lot of sense. I'll have to experiment. So if I have it right I just warm it up and use 1 drop to 10ml PG base.

Now just to clearfy 1 drop TA to 10ml PG. Is that to dilute it to a usable concentrate which I then add to my final mix base at 6 - 10%?

Danny, let us know what works out best. I have some in the mail and am a bit confused myself. The TFA website recommends 1-2 drops per 10ml PG and adding some EM, but I'm not sure if thats for vaping as-is or if that results in a concentrate that you would then add to your recipes. Ah, this confusion reminds me of the tobacco extraction sub-forums where people were mixing their concentrates at like 30%+ and I had no clue how to go about sampling my own NETs.

Just mixed my concentrate and it definitely needs to be used as a concentrate. I think 1 drop per 10 ml is a bit light and would recommend 2 drops per 10 ml. Also waiting for my steep to complete (Ultrasonic steep) to see how my 7% to 5ml base comes out but I have a feeling I'll need to add more.

If you get the TFA cotton candy, it is 10% EM in PG :)

I've got EM from TFA. I have a batch of base with 7% absolute ready to sample. Going to try it straight so I have an idea of flavor then will add other flavors to it such as AP, EM, TMP, Caramel etc as I experiment.

Thanks for sharing your experience Danny. If you're thinking that 7% may be a bit low, wouldn't it be possible to go 3 or 4 drops per 10ml in order to get a lower mix percentage in recipes?

Well if your mixing 10ml juice batch, then I would use 1ml of flavor concentrate + 9ml nic, pg and vg. Then your flavoring at 10%.
If you are trying to run by drops only, you need to know how many drops = 1ml so you can calculate your low mixes and extrapolate for larger mixes so the flavoring scales correctly.

That would be one way or make the concentrate using 2 drops and then it would be good at 7%. Either way would be OK. It's what ever works for you. I've only made one batch so far and haven't really gone back to do adjustments. This is just my initial assessment. And of course taste is subjective. I like strong tobacco taste you may like it milder.

Correct. I like working with ml's and percentages when possible. When using the created concentrate I measure via a 1 ml syringe and .05ml = 1% per 5ml base which is drawable via a 1 ml syringe. So if you wanted 5% per 5ml you would add .25ml.

Now I did make an exception and used drops to create the concentrate because such a small amount is needed. So I will always stick with the same pipette when doing this. I remade the concentrate adding another drop per 10 ml base and found it to be the proper Strength for my needs. I don't think it's worth trying to convert this to ml's because the fluid is so viscus. But I do feel this is repeatable if using the same pipette each time.
