Decided to go with the 510.

There were cartridges already filled, that said "high".."med"..." low" .."no". lol cant remember what they were for, the guy told me on the phone a week ago...is it something about how much nicotine gets delivered?

Actually didnt even see those at first and thought I had to fill up my own cartridge..that didnt work out too good. Filled it up the right way( looked on youtube), but barely any vapor came out..and not a strong hit. Eventually I will have to use those, but for now using the ones that were already made.

Like I said I watched a vid on youtube how to use it, but any advice about the cartridges would be appreciated. 18mg seems to be strong enough for my dad( pack a day, marlboro lights/30 years) so that's good.

I hope you bought liquid! If you didn't go order now! Most people use 3ml a day, so plan on that amount and get enough for a month if you can.

Put a few drops of liquid on the atomizer bridge (inside the atomizer) and a few drops to top off the cartridge (even the prefilled one) after a bit.

If you get the slightest hint of a burned flavor or lack of flavor, top off the cartridge right away with a few drops until it looks like glass on top of the filler in the cart and ALSO put a drop on the atomizer bridge each time you do this and you'll always have great vapor.

Don't forget the battery is only good for an hour on a stock kit, so keep them charged up! If they are low, vapor can suffer.

Also keep your connections cleaned (between the battery and atomizer) if they get liquid on them, it will diminish your vapor output. A microfiber cloth works great. Check and clean them a few times a day and clean your battery connection before putting it in the charger.

Hang in there... there's a learning curve with these.

Oh and High is probably 24-18mg, Medium 16-11mg and low 8-6mg depending on who made the kit. Pay no mind, use them and refill them!

Depends on who you bought from - high from cignot is usually 26mg (the prefilled carts) but high from SE was 18mg (not really that high lol) - thats why most of us buy juice to add to the carts - we know what we're getting lol
If you can say who you bought your kit from perhaps someone can help - or jsut email your vendor and ask :)

also, it says on the instructions that cartridges are suited for one time use only. Not sure what that means since you have to refill them
That's supplier talk for "Come back with your Credit Card and buy more cartridges." :p

Go ahead and refill them. You should get endless refills from them (the plastic mouth piece and white cartridge).

The filler (polyfill) inside them needs to be replaced once in a while or at least rinsed out and refluffed (it starts to slump after a bit... so use a toothpick, needle or straightened paper clip to pick it back up to the top of the cartridge so it wicks your liquid well and keeps the atomizer wet).

You can replace the polyfill in them by purchasing some at any craft store or modify the filling with another material such as these: Blue MarineLand foam (aquarium foam), Buff Puffs, Lipton Pyramid Tea Bag (and my favorite) is the AquaClear Foam (aquarium foam). There are also several "Plug" modifications and a simple small coffee straw modification that can help carts wick well: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/11421-cart-mod-better-refilling.html

You can search the forum for information on these alternatives for filler replacement or PM me if you can't find anything and I'll send you some links. All of these are easy to clean, hold their shape in cartridges well without slumping and can be reused many, many times.

I refill mine several times before I dispose of them

I haven't actually thrown away a cartridge yet. Have polyfill and fluval foam to replace what's in the carts originally and just take out what's in there, wash them out to remove any left over flavors, rinse and then put new poly in and go merrily along.

Hi Hurricane. Michigan is a fairly large state and I'm not sure where you're located but there's going to be a Michigan vaper's get together at the White Lake Inn in White Lake next saturday starting at 3:00 pm. Lots of experienced vapers will be there and a few venders as well. It'd be a good oportunity to talk face to face with people who have been through it all. I understand some guys from Vaporbomb (juice supplier) will be coming up from Ohio with juice samples. Should be a good time and you could learn a lot. I live about 20 miles south of Jackson and I'm going. I've been talking to a guy in Toledo (Drozd) who's probably driving up from there.
Just a thought. Welcome to the forum and to vaping.

(ah, I"m jealous yall get to go to a meetup!)

Hellen has some great advice!! Keep on reading, it's all over this forum and ask as many questions as you need :)

The mg strength is not really the amount you are getting. I've lost my links, but the actual absorbtion rate is much lower. That being said, most new vapers think they need a higher mg, and often can do fine with a lower one. It all depends on how often you draw on your PV (personal vaporizer). That has a difference on how much nic you are getting.
Pay attention to your body signs. If you start feeling pretty jittery and wired, you are most likely getting TOO much! :) If you find yourself craving nic, and a cig, like crazy, maybe you aren't getting enough. Some people do well with different amounts different times of the day. Nicotine can make it harder to sleep too, so some people vape lower mgs in the evening. I prefer a higher jolt, to 'calm' my nic nerves, and then a low one, while I chain vape.

HTH!
